Solutions tailored to your needs
Established in 1931 as a manufacturing shop, we have grown into an international
manufacturer of precision machine tools, transforming ideas into successful
products for more than 80 years now.
Our clear-cut focus on customer benefits and value for money,
outstanding staff in all departments and an approved good quality
management system make MAE a market leader worldwide when it
comes to straightening and assembly machines.
Our philosophy is to seek the best solution for you in every respect.
This includes expert advice, premium quality products and reliable
service. We also aim to satisfy you when we cannot use a standard
product. The range of our portfolio and our strong development
department allow us to realise special custom wishes at acceptable
expense.
Speak to us – we will gladly place the full know-how of our more than
120 employees at your disposal.

1967The S-RH series and its exact
mechanical servo controller make
it possible to replace pressure-
controlled straightening with
the considerably more accurate
stroke-controlled technology.
1959The development of manually
controlled straightening and
wheelset presses marks the start
to a systematic concentration on
the portfolios for the two niche
markets of „straightening“ and
„assembly“.
1971The first fully automatic straigh-
tening machine with electric
measuring and control technology
marks an important milestone in
the integration of straightening ope-
rations in the interlinked production
lines of the automotive industry.
1992Our patented highlight: the auto-
matic straightening machine M-AH
with the first-ever electromechanical
main drive worldwide and the PC-
based controller „RICOS“.
1950sMAE begins building machine
tools with a line of hydraulic
universal presses for a variety of
applications.

2003Newly designed special machines
allow automatic straightening of
complexly shaped workpieces,
e.g. for car parts, for the first
time.
2005The continuous straightening
technique for elongated workpieces
is added to our portfolio to permit
economic machining of small
series, very high precisions are
assured. 2008The innovative new generation
of wheelset presses in the RADS
series combines ease of use,
flexibility and economy.
2010Detection of run out errors
in gears by laser technology
becomes state-of-the-art in MAE
straightening machines.
2001With the ASV automatic straightening
machine for large workpieces we
open up completely new fields of
use for automatic straightening: the
moving column machine is suitable
in its current form for workpieces up
to 30 m long and straightening forces
up to 20,000 kN.
1999With its flexible feed manipulator
and PC controller, the first auto-
matic assembly press ARAD for
railway wheelsets represents a new
dimension in rationalisation and data
documentation.

Reliable quality – right from the start
Almost a quarter of our employees work in the design and development of mechanical, hy-
draulic and electrical systems and software. They form a team on whose ideas and experience
our success rests. More than 25 utility models and patents in the last 20 years are the result of
our courage to risk something new and to develop what we already have in hand further con-
tinuously. In this way we offer you innovative products with all the benefits of classical German
machine building.
As an SME we have quick decision-making processes and flat hierar-
chies. Our low staff turnover is the result of our constructive relations
with each other. In this way we keep experience in the company.
All our machines are assembled and started up in our factory. You
have the opportunity to verify that all promised performance data are
indeed reached in a preliminary acceptance inspection before ship-
ment.
Our well-staffed service department takes over support of the
machines on site after delivery in cooperation with our international
partners. Remote maintenance, quick help when problems arise,
thorough training of your personnel and support during initial start-up
of production are for us not empty promises, but daily practice and
commitment. We are also available worldwide for later modifications
as well as hardware and software updates.
Built on three pillars: our product portfolio
In the last decades we have developed increasingly from a manufacturer of standard hydraulic
presses to specialists for select niche markets.
We have won a leading position as flexible SME with innovative products in the fields of
“straightening machines”, “hydraulic presses” and “assembly machines”.
Straightening
MAE has the broadest portfolio of manual and automatically
controlled straightening machines for machining of round,
profiled and complexly shaped workpieces available
worldwide. Press forces from 15 to 25,000 kN make it
possible to straighten workpieces with lengths from
40 mm to 30 m and weights from 5 g to 20 tons.
Straightening accuracy of up to 0.01 mm is possible
without problem. Apart from the conventional
bending-straightening method, we also offer
peening-straightening for through-hardened workpie-
ces and torsion-straightening for twisted section bars.
The MAE straightening controller for the manual straightening presses in
the S-RH and P-H RH series guarantees precise and repeatable working and
does not necessitate specially trained operators. Measurement and
straightening in one setting ensures optimal cycle times.
The M-AH, ASV and ASRU series enable automatic straightening of
small, large and complexly shaped workpieces. The
software of the RICOS straightening controller is the
result of decades of experience with various applica-
tions. Innovative ideas are making the straightening
process increasingly more powerful and faster.
Various interlinking concepts allow rational continuous
operation with low manpower requirements.
Hydraulic presses
Our broad range of hydraulic standard presses in the S and DS series
with C- and O-frames as well as the four-column presses in the VS
series is based on a module system. By recombining and adapting the
individual modules, we will find an inexpensive, individually optimised
solution with press forces up to 25,000 kN for your needs as well.
Hydraulic presses are exposed to considerable stresses in daily
use. With 60 years of experience, MAE stands for especially
sturdy dimensioning of all components. Comprehensive
calculation software including the finite-element method is
a further guarantor for exceptionally strong constructions.
10
Assembly
Regardless of whether you want to assemble gear parts, rotor shafts
or wheelsets: we have suitable solutions.
The MAE machine series S and M-S with hydraulic or mechanical servo
drive are robust machines tailored to your application. The OPUS
controller with flexible software that can be extended to fulfill customer-
specific requirements guarantees control and documentation of the
assembly process.
Our horizontally acting wheelset presses in the RADS series with
forces up to 8,000 kN are the specialists for mounting and dismounting
wheelsets from railway vehicles. They stand out primarily for their
innovative underlying concept, rational interlinking systems and
extensive control functions.
After-sales serviceWe want to keep in touch with you!
We therefore offer services to keep your press operable and up-to-date over
the long term:
Service
An innovative and high-quality machine is only the basis for high
customer satisfaction. Equally important for continuous duty with high
availability are quick-response service by experienced technicians and
spare parts available ex stocks.
Thanks to optimally staffed service centres at our headquarters in
Erkrath/Germany and Beijing/China, we are able to respond quickly
worldwide. Telephonic support and remote diagnostics help us to
correct minor problems without complication.
Modifications and retrofits
MAE machines are extremely durable by tradition. To ensure you keep
in touch with the times, however, we will gladly retrofit your machine
with the latest controllers or renew the drive technology. In this way
you can improve the performance and availability of older machines.
In-company design is a core philosophy of MAE.
We therefore have all the documents necessary for unproblematic
retrofitting of automatic linkage systems or adaptation to new
workpiece geometries.
13
Software updates
We work continuously on extending and improving the control
software for our machines. In most cases the long-term continuity of
our hardware concepts guarantees the possibility of retrofitting and
keeps your machine technologically up-to-date.
Worldwide and locallyWhether SME or industrial concern – long-term customer ties stand proof of
the competence and reliability of our company.
