A Message from the Author

Has your life ever felt like a twisted (or perhaps even broken) Rubik’s Cube?

My life certainly has, and sometimes even after years of study and work on myself, I would let myself fall into the pit of discouragement, and feel depressed, or over-whelmed. Then, once again I would remember that I am a creative genius and the architect of my destiny. I would practice the principles of successful living and would once again enjoy alignment with Universal Laws. I would remember to believe in me and in the Creative Process.

As I shared the stories of my ups and downs with my coaches and Mastermind group, we discovered that all of us had experienced the same process in our lives. There had come a point in time when each of us wanted to grow personally, developing in many directions in order to realize more of our potential, find and fulfill our life’s purpose, and learn how to manifest our ultimate destinies.

“Ultimate destiny?” we asked ourselves. “What does that really mean? What does it entail?”

We began the search for answers by getting out a flip chart and creating some quizzes. We put those quizzes on the Internet and asked people to answer the questions they presented. As we reviewed the input from the public, we again got out the flip chart and brainstormed the concept of Ultimate Destiny.

We listed the 12 areas or facets of ultimate success in life that had been identified in the answers from the quizzes. We also looked at examples of individuals who had been recognized for living their ultimate destiny and helping other fulfill theirs.

As we began exploring and experimenting with these facets of successful living, looking for ways that we and others could begin fulfilling our ultimate destiny, we began to see that it was like the picture on the cover of a puzzle box, and we created the Ultimate Destiny Success Puzzle.

We developed the concept and outline for a series of books on how to Discover and Manifest Your Ultimate Destiny. We also created the Ultimate Destiny Hall of Fame Awards to recognize individuals who are living their ultimate destiny while helping others manifest their own.

Next, we started conducting research on the best tested and proven resources for achieving success in each area. We started writing short articles and quizzes for each of the 12 areas that led to fulfilling one’s ultimate destiny. We also included self-assessment quizzes, application exercises, implementation methods, strategies, and systems designed to help anyone interested in realizing their ultimate success to be able to do so in the shortest amount of time and with the lowest investment of money.

After months of research and development, testing and refining, we are now ready to share Manifesting Your Ultimate Destiny with others like you who want to Realize More of Your Potential; Attain Financial Freedom; Enjoy Loving Relationships; Enjoy Optimal

Our ultimate vision for America is seeing (and helping) it fulfill its ultimate destiny as envisioned by Ben Franklin and as inscribed on the Statue of Liberty. We understand that is something like “Liberty, enlightening the world”.

More specifically, we envision the establishment of a national (and then international) network of thousands of local, non-profit Community Economic Development Empowerment Resource Centers. These Centers for Successful Living, based on 40 years of research, development and award-winning prototypes, will provide access to Successful Living Skills for the 21st Century to help individuals, organizations and communities realize more of their potential and enable and empower them to help solve the increasing global social, economic and environmental challenges we face together.

The United State of Americans Red, White, Black, Brown or Yellow, We are all evolving human beings. Rich, or poor, some even entrepreneur, We live and work in one global economy.

Christian, Jew, Buddhist, Hindu, Muslim or other, We are all spiritual beings having a human experience. North, South, East, or West, even in the Territories, We move through space together at thousands of miles per hour. Democrats, Republications, Independents, or neither, We are Americans first, living together in One nation. Our ultimate destiny as citizens is to actualize our inherent potential, individually and collectively, to help empower, enlighten and evolve ourselves, our brothers and sisters and the global community we share that Bucky Fuller referred to as Spaceship Earth. Seven Steps to Discover and Manifest Your Ultimate Destiny

Welcome! You are now standing at the door to your Ultimate Destiny. This door opens into your Self. Each of us is a unique human being and within each of us there lives a unique set of interests and skills. We all have dreams of doing something special with our lives, and those dreams pull us in a direction only we can truly honor. Whether you’ve secretly wished you could be an archeologist or an artist, a chemist or a cook, a lawyer or a librarian, a detective or a dog breeder, it is up to you to listen to your own heart and follow your own destiny.

Although we each hold a unique and individual destiny, the steps to achieving that destiny are similar for all. Simply begin. This beginning is often just a willingness to say to yourself that you do have something you wish you could do or become.

If you can honor your hidden dreams, and allow yourself to begin putting energy into those dreams, you will discover the steps that lead to your ultimate destiny, undreamed of satisfaction, and an opportunity to give your gift to the world, a gift only you can give.

The steps you need to know about and begin taking are:

Step 1: Know who are you and why you are here

Step 2: Imagine your ultimate destiny.

Step 3: Envision your desired outcomes.

Step 4: Nurture your heart’s desires.

Step 5: Set empowering priority goals.

Step 6: Develop plans and take action.

Step 7: Express grateful and appreciation.

Step 1. Know who you are and why you are here.

The first step is the most important, and some say it is the hardest. This is where we begin considering answers to the deep questions:

Who are you and why are you here on this planet?

What do you want from life?

What if you came here for a purpose or a mission?

What gift do you want to give to humanity?

Where are you right now on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs?

How enlightened are you on the map of consciousness?

You have to go inside yourself to answer these questions. It is important that these answers come from your deepest self. They should not come from the ideas of others, judgments of people around you, or the latest fad.

Most of us have been programmed to focus our thoughts and energy on the external world and on what we don’t want. A lot of time is spent focused on what’s not working in our life. Because we are the creators of our reality, the more we focus on and flow energy to what we don’t want, the more strongly we attract it to ourselves.

What if you had a genie ready to grant you three wishes, or perhaps only one wish? Would you know what to wish for? Would you know how to receive the ultimate blessings from the gift of having your wishes granted?

If you’re like most people, you might only have a vague idea of what to wish for or how to allow it into your life. When I first discovered the 7 Steps to Manifest Your Ultimate Destiny, I had already been a student of success and achievement for forty years and realized that I still hadn’t discovered who I was, or what I really desired in my heart, and why I wanted it.

Step 2. Imagine Your Ultimate Destiny

As we grow and change throughout life, one of the most under-used tools we have is our imagination. The older we get, the less we use it. Do you remember how rich your life was when you were a child and didn’t have to worry about the mortgage, the groceries, the kids, the bills, your job, and your health? By the time most of us reach adulthood, the reality of having to be responsible for making our way in the world seems to take up most of our time.

As a child, it seemed our job was to play. As children, we spent more time in the rich realms of our imagination than at any other time of our lives. This step allows us to drift back in time and discover the incredible power and benefits of using our creative imagination.

Ultimate Destiny provides wonderful tools and exercises to provide a solid foundation for you to reconnect with that part of the child within you that knew no limits, overcame all obstacles, and had no fears. That part of your imagination is now focused on the most creative way to help you move toward fulfilling your Ultimate Destiny.

Step 3. Envision Your Desired Outcomes

Once you’ve tapped into the amazing power of your imagination and used it to brainstorm a number of different ideas and resources to move you to the next step in your process, it’s time to take that next step.

Envisioning takes the beautiful results of what you’ve just accomplished with your imagination and provides the framework to begin seeing yourself as you truly wish to be seen. Quantum theory states that as we begin to see ourselves doing anything, we begin creating the energy needed to draw the sub-atomic particles together to be creating this particular reality.

Therefore, it is paramount that we learn to envision things in a way that allows us to see ourselves fully integrated into our Ultimate Destiny.

Using established tools like the Outcome Success Map, the Golden Bridge Exercise, Visioning worksheets, Spiritual Mind Treatment, and Power Vision exercise will give you a comprehensive and thorough set of tools to create the most positive vision that will lead you to your Ultimate Destiny.

Step 4. Nurture Your Heart’s Desires

The Wheel of Life Exercise helps you discover six areas that are vitally important to you. This section will allow you to identify which things within those six areas are most important in your life. These are the specific people, events, and outcomes that you hold so close and dear in your heart.

Being able to identify what you want from the deepest fibers of your being will provide a strong foundation to push from when working towards fulfilling your ultimate destiny. Incredible resources from Heart Math®, The Love Center, the Treasure Map worksheet, the Power of Prayer Treatment, the Outcome Success Map Exercise to help identify coaches and cheerleaders to support your mission, as well as taking time for daily visualizations are just some of the tools given in this powerful section.

Keep these deep, rich heart desires close to you and use them to keep you motivated. Know that as your Ultimate Destiny manifests itself, you’ll be able to honor the events that lead you forward and the relationships you have around you from the bottom of your heart. This is living at its highest and best while creating a world that you love – and love to live in!

Step 5. Set Empowering Priority Goals

The foundation has been laid to discover the necessary elements to manifest your Ultimate Destiny. You have identified what’s important to you, both in a general, and then a specific way. You’ve used your imagination to tap back into the exciting world of unlimited creativity that you once thrived on as a child. You took that creative imagination and used it to fuel the vision you have of yourself as you saw yourself achieving your Ultimate Destiny.

The next phase of manifesting your Ultimate Destiny calls for you to set goals that will deeply empower you toward your vision while keeping you moving forward and upward in an efficient and effective manner towards your goal.

Achieving your Ultimate Destiny takes a step towards becoming more of a reality as you identify the goals that will bring you closer to living the life you’ve dreamed about. Write these goals down and review them often.

Step 6. Develop Plans and Take Action

As with any journey one takes, you will encounter obstacles and setbacks along the way. Life does not always flow smoothly for everyone… in fact, that’s true for almost everyone. We all have bumps in the road, some big, some little. However, what makes life seem so easy for some people is that they’ve developed the living habits of peace and tolerance, as well as finely practiced behaviors and responses that allow them to deal smoothly and gracefully with whatever comes up in their lives.

To create these habits and a balanced action plan provides a foundation that allows you to deal creatively with whatever comes up in the course of your days. You realize that obstacles will surface, but your plan and your philosophy will allow you to effectively deal with the problem. It’s like the old metaphor, “When they start throwing lemons, start making lemonade!”

Ultimate Destiny teaches you how to use powerful resources such as Co-Creative Visioning and Strategic Planning, Discernment Grids, Fishing for Whales Exercise, Creative Thinking and Problem Solving exercises from Personal Success Techniques, and 10 Things You Can Do Today To Change Your Life.

These tools will help you deal with the issues that can surface at any time of life. The goal is to deal with it, learn from it, let it go, and move on – with a positive mindset.

Step 7. Feel Grateful and Appreciative

One of the most powerful tools to increase your capacity for living revolves around showing gratitude and appreciation. The ability to move into the heart and generate feelings of gratitude, then radiate those feelings into the world around you is one of the healthiest and most positive things an individual can do for the Self, and for others.

Research by the Institute of Heart Math® has shown that when you move into a state of appreciation, gratitude, or love in your heart, your metabolism changes and so does your physiological state. It moves you into a state of congruence that allows the body to regulate itself in a natural, yet healthy way.

In Step 7, using the tools developed by Heart Math will be supported as well as the Heart Math research on appreciation. Exercises that help you practice feeling gratitude, and the Seven Ascension Attitudes become part of daily living. In looking to achieve your Ultimate Destiny, appreciation and gratitude are vital components for you in living an honorable, integrity-filled life that is rooted in joy and love – not just for yourself and others, but for the concept of life as well.

Introduction to Motivision™ 21 Steps to Your Ultimate Destiny

After twenty-five years of studying and applying various success principles and techniques, I have observed that there are three primary factors that determine the level of success we realize in life as individuals, organizations, and communities. These are:

1. The Clarity of Your Vision – DREAM

2. The Definiteness of Your Purpose – MISSION

3. The Appropriateness of Your Beliefs, Attitudes, and Actions – BELIEVE

To help share these principles with others, I have identified seven steps toward manifesting each of these three essential components of successful living..

DEVELOPING A CLEAR VISION

Invest time reflecting on your ultimate vision of who you would like to become, what you would like to do, and what you would like to leave as your legacy to humankind.

1. Develop affirmations describing yourself as already having achieved the visions developed above.

2. Practice visualizing the accomplishment and realization of your vision on a daily basis, or as frequently as possible.

3. Practice generating the feelings and emotions you will experience when you have achieved each component of your ultimate vision.

4. Reinforce your belief by using books, scriptures, quotes, audio and videotape programs, seminars, etc. that boost your belief that you will ultimately achieve your highest possible vision.

5. Practice daily exercises to help you remember your vision and maintain progress toward its fulfillment.

6. Establish a regular practice of reviewing the basis upon which your vision has evolved to discern any possible refinements or revisions.

MAXIMIZING YOUR MISSION AND PURPOSE

1. Invest time in learning how to set and achieve goals for who you would like to become, what you would like to do and to contribute, and what you would like to have or give to others.

2. Develop a list of the reasons why you have set each of your goals. This will help keep you motivated to accomplish them.

3. Develop written affirmation statements describing the successful manifestation of your goals using positive statements and the present tense such as “I am…” or “I have…” or “I enjoy…”

4. Put your goals and affirmations in writing, perhaps on index cards you can keep with you at all times.

5. Practice reading and visualizing the goals on your cards as frequently as possible every day and maintain a regular practice of reviewing and rewriting your goals to reflect progress toward their fulfillment and the evolution of your vision. This reinforces your belief in your ability to be successful in accomplishing your goals.

6. Generate daily reinforcement by subscribing to publications such as the Daily Word published by Unity School of Christianity, the Science of Mind magazine, or Creative

Thought. Get books like The Power Within and God Calling which also provide daily inspiration and insight to help you keep your eyes focused in the direction of your vision.

7. Develop a daily habit of reflecting on how well you remained conscious of and focused on your goals during each day in every interaction you had with anyone. Consider the incredible tool of keeping a journal to witness the insights and shifts in your life. It is always inspiring to look back and see how far you’ve come on your path of personal growth and development.

MAINTAINING APPROPRIATE BELIEFS, ATTITUDES, AND ACTIONS

1. Develop and maintain a positive mental attitude. Make an effort to fill your life with positive people, positive materials, and positive experiences. Spend time with the people you admire for their work ethic, positive attitude, or positive spiritual mindset.

2. Be grateful in all things! View every situation as an opportunity to grow and progress toward your vision and goals by appreciating the gift of the experience!

Practice showing honest appreciation to people for the little things and watch the changes in your attitude and the attitude of those witnessing your newfound appreciation.

3. Remember, in every situation, it is not what happens to us--but how we let it affect us--that determines our success or failure in life. Learn and practice the principles of creative thinking and problem solving. For example, the skills we’ll cover in later sections like The Golden Bridge Exercise are incredible tools in this area.

4. Learn and practice time management techniques to assist you in making the highest and best use of your time, talents, resources, and opportunities. For example, the 80-20 Rule says that 80 percent of the results or importance in any project will be produced by 20 percent of the activities. Determine which are the crucial 20 percent and focus on them. It has been said that all time management techniques really boil down to to-do lists and prioritization.

5. Develop and follow a process of analyzing your planned actions within a context or matrix that takes into consideration your ultimate goals, values, and priorities. This makes it easier to discern and choose those thoughts and actions that will lead you toward your vision and goals.

6. Remember that everything you do, say, or think either moves you toward your vision and goals – or away from them! Your greatest power is the power to determine your own destiny by the daily choices you make. Stay focused on the goal and make the daily, moment-by-moment decisions that slowly move you toward your goal. The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step.

7. Practice a Daily Mindstorming Exercise every day to generate 20 ideas that will help you evolve toward your vision and goals. This exercise, which includes the development and implementation of daily action plans, can significantly accelerate your progress and success in realizing the achievement of your highest possible vision.

We cannot say too often that allowing yourself to dream so that you know what you want is critical. Setting goals and taking action will get you there. Be aware that no one can give you the permission you need except yourself, and no one can live your dream except YOU!

Once you start, don’t give up! Imagine the world we could have if everyone developed positive, uplifting dreams and took action to bring them into being.

The world would be transformed…and your world will be when you see that your ultimate destiny is not only your responsibility, it is the source of your joy, your success, and all the good things life is meant to be.

Solving the National Ultimate Destiny Success Puzzle

Establishing a Network of Community Economic Development and Empowerment Resource Centers

As previously stated, our ultimate vision for America is seeing (and helping) it fulfill its ultimate destiny as envisioned by Ben Franklin and as inscribed on the Statue of Liberty. We understand that is something like “America, enlightening the world”.

More specifically, we envision the establishment of a national (and then international) network of thousands of local, non-profit Community Economic Development and Empowerment Resource Centers. These Centers would help individuals, organizations and communities realize more of their potential and enable and empower them to help solve the global challenges we face together. Community economic development includes a focus on three areas: Self-help; Empowerment and Capacity building. We are also about to publish a book to introduce the CED project: Solving Our Personal, Community and Global Success Puzzles: Expanding Our Global Capacity to Address Challenges and Opportunities by Helping Individuals, Non-profit Organizations and Communities Foster Self-Help, Empowerment and Transformation By Michael Swack, Ph.D., Dr. Emmett Miller, MD, Elliott Maynard, Ph.D. and Charles Betterton, MS CED With Insights, Recommendations and Featured Resources from the Ultimate Destiny Hall of Fame Award™ Recipients such as: Paul J. After several years of testing and refining various approaches to local community development and empowerment resource centers, our team has developed an outline for the proposed establishment of a national network of CAN DO! Community Economic Development Empowerment Resource Centers.

The CAN DO! Resource Centers that are based on 40 years of (mostly) award-winning prototypes as described at www.candoresourcecenter.com) will enable millions of people to have expanded access to state-of-the-art development training programs that are usually targeted to the top 10% of Corporate America.

We are preparing to launch a campaign to Expand the Circle of Success in America by facilitating the donation of 100 million dollars worth of development training resources to and through some of the 500,000 potential local sponsor agencies we have already identified. These CAN DO! Community Empowerment Resource Centers will be staffed by certified Empower Mentors and Successful Living Coaches.

As a result of the educational programs that will be provided, participants and their families will learn how to apply successful living skills, non-profit organizations will discover innovative approaches to higher levels of efficiency and effectiveness, companies will benefit from higher levels of productivity and profitability, communities will benefit from a shared vision, higher levels of co-creative participation in government and all areas of living together and America will fulfill its ultimate destiny as a fully actualizing society.

Introduction to Community Economic Development

by Charles Betterton, MSCED “Community development is the process by which the efforts of the people themselves are united with those of governmental authorities to improve the economic, social and cultural conditions of communities, to integrate these communities into the life of the nation, and to enable them to contribute fully to national progress. This complex of processes is, therefore, made up of two essential elements: the participation by the people themselves in efforts to improve their level of living, with as much reliance as possible on their own initiative; and the provision of technical and other services in ways which encourage initiative, self-help and mutual help and make these more effective." -- United Nations' definition.

After living in intentional communities for many years and working in community and economic development, I discovered the field of community economic development (CED). Within months of learning about the CED Masters program at Southern New Hampshire University in Manchester, NH, I entered the only graduate degree program in the field in 1990 at the age of 42.

Through the CED program, I learned that the primary goal of community development is to help people improve their economic and social conditions. Community economic development, a subset of community development, is a people-initiated strategy that seeks to develop the economy of a community, region or country for the benefit of its residents. Community economic development strategies seek to develop efficient, productive and profitable ventures and programs within the context of a community's social, cultural and political values. The strategies include issues such as:

* local ownership of economic resources; * citizen participation; and * building the capacity of local people to participate in and manage the development process.

This introduction to the significant differences in CED helped me understand why so many traditional approaches to community and economic development fail. It is primarily because they lack the comprehensive focus and the commitment to self-help, empowerment and capacity building inherent in community economic development.

During an introductory class in the CED Master's program, my classmates and I developed the following list of the root causes of the problems that threaten our society:

* The “Me Generation” * Getting away from God * Lack of spirituality * Lack of common vision * Absence of wisdom

* Focus on accumulation versus circulation * Spiritual and cultural disintegration and the * Lack of an appropriate values system and ways to express it.

The following month we considered potential solutions to these problems by reflecting on the values of community economic development which we described as including:

* Active citizen participation in government and community * Focus on human development and community development * Building collaborative partnerships * Local resource utilization * Application of cooperative principles * Retention of wealth in the neighborhoods * Seeing personal and organizational goals within the context of community and society * Consideration and appreciation of multicultural differences in religion, race, values, perspectives and communication * Enabling people and communities to empower themselves * Recognizing a spiritual underpinning, a sense of oneness

The primary goal of community development is to help people improve their economic and social conditions. Community economic development, a subset of community development, is a people-initiated strategy that seeks to develop the economy of a community, region or country for the benefit of its residents. Community economic development strategies seek to develop efficient, productive and profitable ventures and programs within the context of a community’s social, cultural and political values. Community Economic Development (CED) is said to consist of three main principles: Self-Help; Empowerment and Capacity Building.

SELF-HELP DEFINED

The idea of self-help is one of several distinguishing features of community development theory, practice, and ideology. Self-help is based on the premise that people can, will, and should collaborate to solve community problems. In addition to the practical problem-solving utility of this perspective, self-help builds a stronger sense of community and a foundation for future collaboration. Self-help is emphasized not only as a goal to be achieved in and of itself, but also as a strategy for the accomplishment of broader development objectives. Helping communities achieve a capacity for self-help is fundamental to both the theory and practice of community development.

Self-help embodies two interrelated features: (1) it is expected to produce improvements of people's living conditions, facilities, and/or services); and (2) it emphasizes that the process by which these improvements are achieved is essential to development of the community. The "developed community" is both improved and empowered as a result. Thus a self-help approach not only emphasizes what a

community achieves, but more importantly, how it achieves it. In broad terms, empowerment is enhancing the possibilities for people to influence those persons and organizations that affect their lives. Empowerment involves recognizing and nurturing the unique strengths and competencies of people that derive from the wisdom of their everyday experiences. Empowerment also entails strengthening social networks and community institutions by promoting a diversity for approaches to deal with social life." "An important route to empowerment is building local capacity. When a community and its people are empowered, they have the capacity to articulate their needs; to identify actions to solve these needs; and, to mobilize and organize resources in pursuit of community defined goals. When the people of a community come together to visualize a common future and then work together to achieve it, there develops a recognition that everyone -regardless of education, job, race, background or whatever -- has something important to contribute to that process. LOCAL CAPACITY BUILDING The rationale for local capacity building bears repeating here: local governments alone simply do not have the human resources to cope effectively with the changing social, political, and economic environments which they now confront. If the base of human resources that local governments can draw upon is not expanded, then communities and people will never achieve the quality of life they want and deserve. The three general types of strategies for local capacity building are: (1) expanding the base of citizen involvement; (2) enhancing the leadership pool; and (3) enlarging the information base of local communities. While each is important, it is together that they establish a solid foundation for citizen participation in community development. These strategies have multiple purposes and outcomes. They contribute to capacity building by nurturing and strengthening local organizations, by generating citizen interest to participate in community decision making and actions, and by increasing the vehicles for citizen involvement." -- Excerpts from Community Development Perspectives edited by James A. Today, with a computer, a telephone, and a modem, it is now possible for people to launch and manage an empire from their living room and make a fortune. Internet-based collaborations and strategic alliances are the way of the future for all businesses. By collaborating with each other on a variety of projects they are able to generate even more income offering teleseminars, webinars, and live events. These entrepreneurs and Ultimate Destiny are on the front edge of a wave of change that will change everything we once believed about how business is done and daily life is organized.

We refer to the structure of UDU as a strategic marketecture because the company is based on strategic alliances in place and specific marketing outlets in operation. We currently have about 400 web and blog sites set up and are creating new ones daily. We have completed a number of e-books and print books, are in the process of recording the audio CDs and the DVDs.

We have the means to market not just our own books, music, CDs, and DVDs, but the work of thousands of other writers, artists, musicians, teachers, and creatives who create or teach easily but have no coherent marketing plan. This will give us a greatly increased array of products, and allow us to collaborate with them in ways that benefit all. We have set up strategic alliances with Peter Reding’s Coach for Life organization, a strategic partner who will handle the coaching services we offer and share revenues with Ultimate Destiny.

We are planning to produce live events in Sedona, AZ and San Diego, CA that include bringing in big name trainers for an evening talk, getting rights to videotape them, and

bringing them to a retreat center setting the next day for a small private workshop/intensive.

We have set up the Ultimate Destiny Hall of Fame Award that recognizes individuals who are living their ultimate destiny and encouraging others to do so. They receive a plaque and the Ultimate Destiny Success System, which consists of the 14 books, the audio CDs, a DVD, and links to our websites that will promote their activities as well as ours.

We have created Empowerment Training and Mentoring Systems that will be marketed through thousands of Community Economic Development Centers. We have a speaker’s bureau that can connect good speakers with those looking for one, and many of these speakers are interested in being recorded for audio and video, which will add to our library of CDs and DVDs.

We have created an Expanding the Circle of Success strategy that allows us to partner with non-profit organizations. They market our Ultimate Destiny Success System and in return receive a percentage of our profits as a contribution. We get tax credit for the contribution, and make money through the sale of related goods and services.

Our goal is to help create a network of community empowerment resource centers around the globe that will support people in their efforts to shift their lives and adapt to the coming changes. These centers will license the Ultimate Destiny materials and courses, and use them to help people in their communities whether they are just starting a community, are working with an online “community of consciousness,” or have been in community for years and want to go a step further, e.g. to create complementary currencies or a local food system.

BACKGROUND: For a few years, the cofounders of Ultimate Destinyland have held a shared vision that our mission includes reaching, serving and blessing millions of underserved people. Our strategy for accomplishing that is to provide expanded access to some of the world's best development training programs, partly through a network of Community Economic Development Empowerment Resource Centers™.

We know from personal experience that many if not most leading training companies focus just on the top 10% to 13% of the population. Our programs are based on about 40 years of experience in designing and implementing innovative new ways to help Expand the Circle of Success.

Some people, even some of our strategic alliance partners, have suggested that we not state publicly that our goal is to bless millions. After prayerful consideration, we decided instead to publish this page to:

We'll share with you a couple of the most successful case stories, the Community Resource Center in Kankakee, Illinois developed in conjunction with a Community Development Corporation and the Success Center Partnership in conjunction with a Public Housing Authority.

We'll also share our vision of Expanding the Circle of Success, a project designed to provide expanded access to state-of-the-art development training resources to previously under-served populations. This includes our plans to serve as the catalyst for the donation of 100 million dollars of empowerment training resources through 10,000 locally initiated Empowerment Resource Centers™ and ETMS™, Empowerment Training Mentoring Systems™. Our continuing CAN DO! campaign to Expand the Circle of Success will be launched in the second quarter of 2011 with a Request for Proposals (RFP). The RFP will invite potential community and organizational sponsors of an Empowerment Resource Center and or Empowerment Training Mentoring System to apply for a free donation of either program. The only investment the sponsors will need to cover is the cost of travel and training of the local CAN DO! Empowerment facilitator. This week long training-of-trainers will be provided at various locations across North America initially.

The RFP process includes a form that applicants complete and submit along with their request for the donation of an ERC or ETMS. In some instances, CAN DO! and our sponsors will invite a municipality to participate as a prototype. An example of the letter of invitation is provided along with an overview of how the projects are designed to become totally self-funding.

Our ambitious goal for the 10,000 locally initiated community based empowerment centers by 2012 is based on about 30 years of "proof of concept" with previous award-winning models and prototypes that will be documented on this web site.

The “technology” of Small Local Communities is centuries old. Arthur Morgan spent many decades in the process of systematizing and refining the theory of small communities. In his role of engineer, educator, and government official he put this theory into practice in different environments. The Community Course introduces concepts, rules and tips in the formation or enhancement of a Small Local Community.

The course is available for high school and college instructors for use in teaching the concepts of small community. The course allows instructors to address not only the economics, education and other aspects of community, but also the psychological and relationship aspects of the small community. We plan to produce introductory materials on the Resource Center including brochures, print and electronic newsletters, etc. along with continuing refinements to this web site, a related blog site, and completion of a Success Puzzle Template for the Resource Center like the example provided for Sedona Collaborative Enterprises.

Some of the Major Advantages of A CAN DO! Community Resource Center:

The Center would serve as a central repository of information, materials, equipment, technology and technical assistance that would be made available to any participating individual or organization. The co-creative nature and design of the Center will provide maximum opportunities for multi-sector collaboration and participation by individuals, businesses, non-profit organizations, communities, resource providers and funders. The project is based on decades of (mostly) award-winning prototypes as described at www.CanDoResourceCenter.com and www.CommunityResourceCenters.org. Participants in the Resource Center would have access to hundreds of programs and resources designed to facilitate personal and professional development for individuals, enhance efficiency and effectiveness for NPOs, improve productivity and profitability for companies and help communities attract greater levels of citizen participation.

Action Steps to Implement the Community Resource Center Project:

Share the refined proposal with potential and all stakeholders to solicit feedback, suggestions, expressions of interest and commitments to participate.

Where there is sufficient interest, schedule a half-day visioning and strategic planning retreat to further refine the proposal, set priorities, implementation strategies and fundraising.

Prepare presentation materials to share whenever possible with potential participants.

Develop and distribute Interest Surveys to identify priority interests by present and potential collaborators, resource providers and participants for specific programs.

Research potential private foundation and government funders, submit Letters of Inquiry, develop and submit grant applications.

Develop and implement various levels of membership services including newsletters. Seed Grants to Launch the CAN DO! CED Resource Centers Project

Initial Use of Proceeds for Seed Grants of $25,000 to $50,000 to Launch the $250,000 CAN DO! CED Resource Centers Project

We are developing Letters of Inquiry that include a tentative project budget of $250,000 to launch the CAN DO! CED Resource Centers project. The initial use of interim Seed Grants is to further refine, expand and promote participation in the project. That will include ongoing refinements to the web site and blog site, creation and publication of marketing and promotional materials such as fliers, a print newsletter, an ezine on Constant Contact, and the design and distribution of interest survey. Seed Grant funding would also be used to publish electronic and print books that introduce the project and invite cocreative collaboration. The first publication would be Solving Personal, Organizational, Community, National and Global Ultimate Destiny Success Puzzles. In addition, the following publications would be published, also electronically and in print. They would include a set retail sales price for each publication, although most copies would be offered for a voluntary donation, or as a membership incentive and or provided for free to targeted various niche markets.

How to Create a Success Center Partnership for Your Housing Authority, based on the award-winning Success Center Partnership, would be designed to attract interest by Indian and Public Housing Authorities. The contents would demonstrate how a PHA could include one or more of the available resources including the $10,000 ETMS™ Empowerment Training Mentoring System, the $25,000 Community Empowerment Resource Center program or the $250,000 two-year Community Development Training programs that include coproducing major fundraising events in their community featuring some of the Ultimate Destiny Hall of Fame Award recipients such as Les Brown who participated in the Success Center Partnership.

What does it take to be successful? There are as many strategies as there are definitions of success. But most successful people agree, there are a few things you must be able to do in order to succeed. We call these the Essential Successful Living Skills.

They include:

1. Maintaining a positive outlook 2. Setting and managing goals. 3. Finding a source of self-motivation 4. Making the best use of time 5. Effectively managing income and resources. 6. Solving problems creatively 7. Reducing stress 8. Creating and holding on to your vision 9. Receiving guidance from your heart 10. Being willing to embrace change 11. Communicating your ideas 12. Collaborating with others

How can you learn these vital skills? Follow these instructions:

1. Look up. Maintaining a positive outlook or positive mental attitude requires practice and careful attention to what you think about. Our attitudes are mostly habit, and habits can be changed. If you train yourself to think about your present situation, the past, and your future in a positive light, you will have mastered this skill.

2. Write it down. Goals are important, and specific, written goals are a major factor in success. One study showed that college students who recorded their skills were much more likely to have reached those goals when followed up decades later. Choose goals for the near future, for a bit farther out, and for the distant future. Record them now. Review them frequently.

3. Get started. To be successful, you must be able to get yourself off Ground Zero and put yourself in motion. Some people are motivated by desperation, while others are inspired by faith. You might have a hero or heroine you want to emulate. Some of the most successful people have received negative messages early in life and have been motivated by a desire to prove these nay-sayers wrong. Whatever it takes, you must find a source that motivates you to take action.

4. Use time wisely. There are a limited number of hours in the day, and we each have a limited number of years in our lives. Each moment is precious and filled with potential. To be successful, we need to recognize the time-wasters in our lives, and fill that time with activity that moves us toward our goals. Schedules may seem restrictive, but they actually allow you the freedom of knowing you are on track and moving ahead.

5. Manage resources. Mastering our use of money and resources may prove to be the most challenging of the Essential Successful Living Skills. Yet knowing exactly what you have, what you owe, and what you can earn is a key element to success. Staying out of financial debt and saving for the future helps relieve stress and puts you in a better position to reach your goals.

6. Meet challenges. The path to success is never a smooth one. There will be obstacles to overcome. But remember, the Chinese language has a single word that means both “crisis” and “opportunity.” Each crisis is an opportunity for you to apply your creativity. Within the solutions you find as you solve problems creatively, there will be much information and many additional resources.

7. Reduce stress and overcome fear. Stress is a natural reaction to the challenges of life, and the more you try to accomplish, the greater your stress might be. But at the root of all stress is fear: fear that you will fail, that you won’t have enough or be enough or do enough to succeed. Release that fear, and your stress level declines. Dealing properly with stress may be the most important Essential Successful Living Skill, because when stress is out of control, nothing else can be effectively accomplished.

8. Hold the vision. Life is complicated and full of surprises. Things change every day. In the middle of this, if you are to move forward toward success, you must keep a tight grip on your vision of success. Use affirmations, visualization, and meditation on your goals to remember your vision and hold it fast. Then each choice you make will take you in the right direction.

9. Listen to your heart. When you’re in a situation where you must make a choice, who knows how to choose? You do. Your heart will give you all the guidance you need, if you learn to relax and listen to it, and honor its wisdom. This Essential Successful Living Skill requires practice and patience, but it works every time. Your instincts are powerful. Know what you feel, have faith in your own inner wisdom, and decide accordingly.

10. Embrace change. Success is a puzzle, and it’s one in which the pieces shift constantly. There is no solution you will ever find that applies forever, in every situation. To be successful, you must be able to “think on your feet” and shift your perspective as the situation shifts. Flexibility—your willingness to embrace change and develop new strategies—will get you farther than any single strategy.

11. Communicate. To be successful, you will need to be able to not only have a vision of what you want, but also be able to describe it fully. Give your vision as much detail as possible. Know how to express your thoughts and desires to others who may be able to help. Learn the language of your dream so you can share your vision.

12. Collaborate. Few successful people have gotten to the top alone. No matter what strong skills you possess, there will be other skills you still need to develop. Find people who already have these skills, and form an alliance. The power of such collaborations is greater than the sum of its parts. Learn to work with another person and each of you will reach your goal faster. Form a mastermind alliance of skills and talents, and watch your goals and successes expand exponentially.

CED Master’s Program Graduation Remarks by Charles Betterton 1992 Good evening. It is my privilege to continue the CED Program tradition of having the opening remarks given by the class member voted least likely to offer remarks, comments and opinions. During our first class weekend, I introduced myself as a community development specialist for the Kingdom of God on earth and right-use-ness. The response to my statement was understandably as diverse as the make-up of our class. Comments ranged from statements of appreciation from people with a similar orientation to someone asking me if there was a place in my world for atheists and Michael Swack asking if I was a member of some cult. During later classes, we spent time discussing the root causes of the problems that threaten our society. We developed the following list:

The me generation Getting away from God Lack of spirituality Lack of common vision Absence of wisdom Focus on accumulation versus circulation Spiritual and cultural disintegration and the Lack of an appropriate value system and ways to express it

The following month we considered potential solutions to these problems by reflecting on the values of community economic development which we described as including:

Spiritual underpinning, a sense of oneness Application of cooperative principles A focus on human development Retention of wealth in the neighborhoods Valuing community and the larger society Consideration of multicultural differences in religion, values perspectives and communication and Enabling people and communities to empower themselves

We defined the role of CED as an educational process to help people become empowered and connected with others, thereby becoming the curative process. I am not the same person who entered this program in September of 1990 and neither are any of you. Through the information, exercises and experiences we have shared, we have all completed another upward spiral in our lives and careers. We have acquired skills and techniques and access to resources that can transform our lives, our organizations, our communities and our world.

Over the past 16 months we have become a family and a community. And just like our biological families and our geographic communities, we have varying levels of connectedness with each other member of the group. Even so, I believe we have far more in common than we may have of difference. When I say I am a community development specialist for the Kingdom of God on earth and right-use-ness, I am sharing my goal of being a positive factor in assisting with the evolution of the world from what and how it now is, into what and how I believe it can be through the application of CED principles. Just as Abraham Maslow developed a hierarchy of needs and described a fully actualized person, I see a vision of a fully actualizing civilization. I see a world where the widespread practice of community economic development principles fosters the realization of personal, organizational and spiritual potential. I see a world where individuals balance their inclination toward personal objectives and material acquisitions with a broader sense of community, purpose, an attitude of service and stewardship and the practice of cooperative principles. In an article we read by Mel King and Samantha George entitled "The Future of Community; From Global to Local", the following statements were presented: "Community development on the material level is necessary, but not sufficient without a complementary development of human consciousness along the spiritual dialectic .... The point here for community developers is to create structures that stimulate the development of consciousness so that, in transforming their physical communities, people grow into spiritual community. Community development must embody the process of uncovering our essence as human beings and as co-creators, in order to build a new earthly order reflecting the divine principle of oneness" I suggest that we are all community development specialists for the Kingdom of God on earth and right-use-ness. Or if you prefer the term, for Heaven on Earth. " We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience." I deeply appreciate the opportunity to travel this path with you. I look forward to spending the rest of my life sharing with the world what we have learned through our participation in the CED program. I also appreciate this opportunity to share these thoughts with you this evening. In closing, and in keeping with the ecumenical nature of this "non-invocation", may the Force be with you. Thank you.
