INTRODUCTION
Now a days education plays a great role in development of any country. Many
of education organizations try to increase education quality. One of the aspects of this
improvement is managing of school resources.
The termsanalysis andsynthesis come from Greek where they mean
respectively "to take apart" and "to put together". These terms are used inscientific
disciplines from mathematics and logic to economics and psychology to denote similar
investigative procedures. Analysis is defined as the procedure by which we break down
an intellectual or substantial whole into parts. Synthesis is defined as the procedure by
which we combine separate elements or components in order to form a coherent whole.
Systems analysis researchers applymethodology to the analysis of systems involved to
form an overall picture. System analysis is used in every field where there is a work of
developing something. Analysis can also be defined as a series of components that
perform organic function together.
If the broader topic ofproduct development "blends the perspective of
marketing, design, and manufacturing into a single approach to product development,"
then design is the act of taking the marketing information and creating the design of the
product to be manufactured. Systems design is therefore the process of defining and
developingsystems to satisfy specifiedrequirements of the user. Until the 1990s
systems design had a crucial and respected role in thedata processing industry. In the
1990sstandardization of hardware and software resulted in the ability to buildmodular
systems. The increasing importance of software running on generic platforms has
enhanced the discipline ofsoftware engineering.
Many traditional colleges and universities have been forced to embrace distance
education as a result of the changing demographics of the student population. Part of
the change is the student's access to efficient and relevant information. In turn, they are
requiring educational institutions to apply efficient information access to academic
programs and courses. The information technology exists for this application providing
for computer-based instruction or asynchronous learning networks. These provisions
are creating the "virtual campus". Many institutions have overlooked, or are not aware

of, the dimensions of this new classroom. The asynchronous environment raises a
number of concerns for institutions, the most essential aspect being the support of the
distant student. This support raises new challenges in meeting the fundamental
requirement of any higher education institution - providing skills to students so that
they can process information, address its relevance and acquire knowledge. It is
essential for institutions to develop a system analysis and design so that distance
education can be incorporated into its overall educational system. There have been a
number of system models developed to support distance education, however, since each
institution has a unique culture and special needs, a unique system designs must be
developed that is tailored for the institution. This paper will offer a prototype of a
general system model for application.
Object-oriented analysis and design methods are becoming the most widely used
methods for computer systems design. TheUML has become the standard language in
object-oriented analysis and design. It is widely used for modeling software systems
and is increasingly used for high designing non-software systems and organizations.
With growth of internet many of education organizations perform management
of education resources online. However, the sites developed by those organizations
support a few languages and have to be redesigned in case new languages are required
to be added or interface of the entire site is required to be changed. The redesigning
process takes a long time since thousand lines of code should be rewritten or modified.
Taking all these disadvantages into account the system that manages school resources
and supports multi languages and whose interface can be changed without rewriting all
the code can be designed. To meet all requirements the system also can run on different
platforms. All of those aspects of the system can be achieved by using XML. However
XML is a simple text format that should be transformed to html format. To perform this
transform XSL should be used. In addition the system can be designed in such a way
that it runs for a single school or for different schools. The single school
implementation can be achieved using the PHP technology. However, the
implementation for different schools can be performed in many ways. One of those is
Java Web Service technology, which is used for business applications. In Java Web

Services the methods that can be called by the client are identified by WSDL document.
For purpose of connecting to server the messages are sent using Simple Object Access
Protocol.
Based on this assumptions and facts the system capable of working on different
platforms and supporting multi language was designed. The implemented system takes
advantages from XML technology. Hence, making easier to change view of entire
system by performing XSL transformation of XML interfaces into HTML pages. The
multi language support is achieved by storing words, which are used in the system, in
the database. The implementation of the system was done using PHP and Web Services
technologies, allowing system to be run locally or in distributed mode. When the
system works in distributed mode the systems one part namely server handles requests
obtained from client.
1.1 WHAT IS SYSTEM ANALYSIS AND DESIGN?
Systems Analysisis the study of sets ofinteractingentities, including
computer systems analysis. This field is closely related torequirements
analysis oroperations research. It is also an explicit formal inquiry carried out to help
someone (referred to as the decision maker) identify a better course of action and make
a better decision than he might otherwise have made.
Systems Designis the process of defining the architecture, components,
modules, interfaces, anddata for asystem to satisfy specifiedrequirements. Systems
design could be seen as the application ofsystems theory toproduct development.
There is some overlap with the disciplines ofsystems analysis, systems
architecture andsystems engineering.
There are hundreds of definitions for the term social media and new ones are
added daily as the concepts keep changing and evolving with time.

1.2 DEFINITIONS OF SYSTEM ANALYSIS AND DESIGN :-
The process of completing an is project, which involves the four essential
ingredients: people, methodology, management, and tools. failure of any one of
the four areas can cause a whole project to come crashing down. for example,
even if the tools are adequate, the people are committed, and the methodology is
understood, a project can fail if there is no central management to bring the
requirements together.
process of creating and maintaining is development involves all 5 is components
(hw, sw, data, procedures, people) requires more than technical expertise -requires business knowledge and management skill is are never just off-the-
shelf; involve individual company's people and procedures.
According to Christopher Alexander (1979) The Timeless Way of Building
My experience has shown that many people find it hard to make their design
ideas precise. They are willing to express their ideas in loose, general terms, but
are unwilling to express them with the precision needed to make them into
patterns. Above all, they are unwilling to express them as abstract spatial
relations among well-defined spatial parts. I have also found that people aren't
always very good at it; it is hard to do. If you can't draw a diagram of it, it isn't a
pattern. If you think you have a pattern, you must be able to draw a diagram of
it. This is a crude, but vital rule. A pattern defines a field of spatial relations, and
it must always be possible to draw a diagram for every pattern. In the diagram,
each part will appear as a labeled or colored zone, and the layout of the parts
expresses the relation which the pattern specifies. If you can't draw it, it is n't a
pattern.
According to C. West Churchman: There are many writings on the subject of
systems analysis and design that collectively offer important insight to the
understanding of what a system is and the various components that make a
system effective. When researching general systems theory and its relationship
to educational institutions one model stood out from the others. It was
developed by C. West Churchman. He addresses general systems theory but also

include systems design, educational technology, information flow and the social
implications of systems. In his book, The Design of Inquiring Systems (1971),
Churchman outlines the necessary conditions that must exist for something (S)
to be established as a system. They are:
S is teleological
S has a measure of performance
There exists a client whose interests (values) are served by S in such a manner
that the higher the measure of performance, the better the interests are served,
and more generally, the client is the standard of the measure of performance. S has teleological components, which coproduce the measure of performance of
S.
S has an environment (defined either teleologically or ateleologically), which
also coproduces the measure of performance of S.
There exists a decision-maker who - via his resources - can produce changes in
the performance of S 's components and hence changes in the measure of
performance of S.
There exists a designer, who conceptualizes the nature of S in such a manner
that the designer's concepts potentially produce actions in decision maker, and
hence changes the measure of S 's components, and hence changes in measure
of performance of S.
The designer's intention is to change S so as to maximize S 's value to the
client.
S is "stable" with respect to the designer, in the sense that there is a built-in
guarantee that the designer's intention is ultimately realizable.

Evolution Of Information Systems Projects
1.3 THE CHANGING FACE OF SYSTEM ANALYSIS AND DESIGN
(Systems Analysis and Design-- 30 years from now) : -
Idealistic View
Major revolutions and earth-shattering breakthrough
SAND will be automated to a large extent
Information systems engineers will do the high-level conceptual design
Automated software engineering systems or software agents will
fill in the details to ensure that security, privacy, constraints, etc. are taken care
of and the systems are internally consistent and externally aligned with
organizations goals and missions
Information systems engineers will be focusing more on fine-tuning and
perfecting these automated software engineering systems and software agents
Most business systems requirements analysis and design can be carried out by
end-users, with information systems engineers serving as consultants and
advisors.

For this view to materialize
Breakthrough and major advancement in artificial intelligence
Breakthrough in common sense reasoning
Breakthrough in forward engineering (i.e. converting from visual models
to program codes)
My prediction
This scenario is possible but quite unlikely
Pragmatic View
SAND will continue to evolve for the next thirty years with no earth-shaking
revolution or breakthrough
ER diagram was introduced in 1976 and many of us are still teaching
and using ER diagram in 2007 (more than 30 years later)
Component engineering and commercial-off-the-shelf will be important
We will not be designing everything from scratch every time
Forward engineering will be more advanced and powerful
Programming will be done using diagrams.
e.g. similar but more powerful than Unified Modeling
Language (UML) and Object Constraint Language (OCL)
Requirements analysis will incorporate strategic planning at the highest level of
organizations and take into account the organizations values, politics, and
culture.
Security, privacy, and ethics will be as important as (if not more important than)
functionality and features of systems.
Corporate and IT governance issues
e.g. Sarbanes-Oxley Act in the US
Architectural concepts such as descendants of Model Driven Architecture
(MDA) and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) will be even more important
Methodologies such as descendants of Unified Process (UP) will be more
developed, potent, and refined.

Advantages of Web based implementation (Online)
It is made available online in SAAS model. The benefits of the online implementationis as follows.
Cross platform compatibility :
Our web based applications are far more compatible across platforms than traditional
installed software. Typically the minimum requirement would be a web browser of
which there are many. (Firefox or Gogole Chrome). These web browsers are available
or a multitude of operating systems and so whether you use Windows, Linux or Mac S
you can still run the web application.
Low Maintenance cost :
Using the solution online will take a rid of major expenditure of managing the server
system. Our hosting will provide you 100% web based interface with minimal
maintenance cost for the server. Ease of access As the solution will be deployed on a
web-server, you can access the data from anywhere, anytime. Hence you will be having
great freedom to access your valuable data on the go.
Highly deployable :
Due to the manageability and cross platform support deploying web applications to the
end user is far easier. They are also ideal where bandwidth is limited and the system
and data is remote to the user. At their most deployable you simply need to send the
user a website address to log in to and provide them with internet access. This has huge
implications allowing you to widen access to your systems, streamline processes and
improve relationships by providing more of your parents, employees, students and third
parties with access to your systems.
Secure live data :
Typically in larger more complex systems data is stored and moved around separate
systems and data sources. In web based systems these systems and processes can often
be consolidated reducing the need to move data around. Web based applications also

provide an added layer of security by removing the need for the user to have access to
the data and back end servers.
BENEFITS :
Correspondence Management Module:
This module is beneficial since it is useful in maintaining communication records.
Procedures are established for file management, storing, filling and dispatch of
communication records.
Multilingual Interface:
This is very beneficial for those who do not know English language or do not have such
command on English language. Talking about today, the youngsters will know English
language but if their parents want to use this software for their children then it becomes
hard for some parents who cannot communicate in English. Thus this feature is very
useful to those parents.
Open Source Environment:
This is one of the technological advantages since some of the colleges or institutes do
not prefer licensed server operating system.
Cost Effective Solution:
This is also one of the technological advantages. eMLi is developed in LAMP
Technology-Linux Apache MySQL and PHP. Thus the overall costing will be less
compared to Window based technology.
Network Security and Authentication:
Data transfers are done with high security and biometrics authenticated access through
barcode and Thumb-Impression.

2.6 RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
SOURCES OF DATA
Primary sources:
Primary data are those which are collected for the first time and this happens to be
original in nature. Here I made use of Structured Questionnaires to collect information
from the Bangalore respondents only
Secondary sources:
The project requires collection of data from secondary source such as
Referring to books,
Journals, Newspapers, and Magazine.
Collecting information from Website.
2.7 SAMPLING
Simple random sampling technique has been used to select the sample. A simple
random sample is a group of subjects (a sample) chosen from a larger group (a
population). Each subject from the population is chosen randomly and entirely by chance,
such that each subject has the same probability of being chosen at any stage during the
sampling process.
Here sample unit is Govt. R C COLLEGE, Bangalore respondents and sample
size is 50 respondents which were contacted personally with the help of structured
questionnaires.
2.8 LIMITATIONS OF RESEARCH STUDY
Survey Response Limitations
Inconsistency of Data & Statistics available on social media.
Time constraints.
The study is restricted to Bangalore correspondence only.
Quality of research in mainly depends on response of the respondents.
