Students are seated under shady trees studying their books. Another group of girls are standing talking to a nun. The school building is pictured in the background.

In 1909 a school was opened in Stanthorpe by the Sisters of the Sacred Advent, St. Catharine. In 1936 the Church of England Girl's School in Warwick merged with St. Catharine's School, Stanthorpe. The school is under the control of the Sisters of the Sacred Advent. (Description supplied with photograph)

Slade's Church of England Grammer School in Warwick was opened in February 1926. The photograph shows the grounds of the school including from left to right: Barnes House - built in 1927, Slade House, previously Slade House or the Eastmont residence, purchased in 1918, and classrooms built in 1929. This photograph is taken about 1937 after the depression. Relief workers provided by the government did extensive work on the school grounds in the thirties. The school was formally closed at the end of 1997. Beating the heat in southern Queensland, the boarders' beds have been put out on the upper balconies of the school. The view from the higher vantage point looks out over the town of Warwick to the surrounding hills.
