Ronnie and. Lynda (Dotson) Hubbard (Guest)

We are not 1958 graduates, but count ourselves fortunate to know so many of you from this graduating class that we wanted to join your celebration. In fact, in 1958, I (Lynda) was in the fifth grade and Ron was in the sixth. (Yes, we were babies when you stepped out into the world to make your remarkable difference — truly, your class was extraordinary in so many ways). Your class Valedictorian is my loving sister, Helen Dotson.

Ron and I married in 1980 (second marriages), he with two girls, I have two boys.

Though our children and 12 grandchildren are making their family homes hither and yon, we enjoy the opportunities with family in these too "busy" times.

Ron has worked for many coal companies over the past 35 years, mostly in supervisory or management capacities, but as the odds go for that occupation, he is, in fact currently retired on disability due to heart (stress) and arthritis (coal mine related) problems. His time now is spent with woodworking, gardening, fishing, and letting me live in spite of my volunteering him for as much as I can.

I have worked mostly in natural resource management for the U.S. Forest Service as an Administrative Officer (Finance) and member of the National Incident Command Team for national disaster situations threatening the safety of our country. I retired in 2004 and still remain a part of the IC team as needed and call it a privilege to serve our nation this way.

Ron and I love all things about our natural resources--wildlife, botany, geology, history, and mountain culture. We volunteer whenever we can to work for our community here in Pound and Wise Co. in fact our California friends from this area call us the "Keepers of the Lake". We invite you to be in touch anytime you would like to join us for a hike or a boat ride up North Fork or to attend a Pound Historical Society gathering (my sister Brenda's good work). Eugene (Gene) Jackson (Guest

My name is Eugene (Gene) Jackson. I graduated from Pound High School with the class of 1955, The following is my life since graduation, I attended Clinch Valley College for three years; then I was called to the military in 1960, with basic training at Ft, Benning, GA, and schooling at Ft. Gordon, GA. From there, F was sent directly to Gennany for the remainder of my obligation. After the Army. [ started work at Fruit Growers Express (a Railroad Company) in Alexandria, vA, where l worked for 23 years. While there, 1 held the title of Superintendent of Mechanical Refrigeration Piggyback Trailers and Mechanical Rail Cars,

During that time, I met and married Sue Ann Green„ a Federal Government employee. She was originally from Marlinton, WV. 1 am proud to say that we celebrated our 44 th anniversary on December 28, 2007. We have one son, Greg, and a 9-year old grandson, Cameron, and a lovely daughter-in-law, Dawn.

Sue and 1 lived in Dale City, VA, for 18 years. in 1985, we sold our house and built a new house in Nokesville, VA. Also in 1985, 1 also started to work for Prince William County Park Authority and stayed there for 21 years.

In 2006, we decided it was time to quit working. Sue was already retired from the Federal government. I was retired from the Railroad and the State of VA. We sold our house in Nokesville and moved to Rocky Mount (Nash County) area of North Carolina, We are enjoying retirement, playing lots of golf, and enjoying our friends and family.

Tom and Norma Riddle Jackson (Guest)

Although 1958 was not my senior year, it was a watershed year in my life. Tom and I were married on February 1, 1958, and our daughter, Denise, was born on December 22, 1958. We set up housekeeping in a mobile home trailer on a lot Tom's dad owned in the bottom. It was only ten feet by 32 feet but seemed to fit us very well.

Tom and his brother Bill owned and operated the Town Hall Esso as partners but it soon became evident that the business was not going to be successful. Tom had a long conversation with Doug Hawks about our future and Doug urged us to come to Atlanta where Toni could go to school and 1 could get a job.

And, that's exactly what we did in March of 1961. True to his word, Doug helped us find a trailer park, showed us around the area, got us a Rich's credit card and introduced us to the Georgia delicacy called catfish! As it turned out, Jack Baker and Carolyn were also in Atlanta and Jack helped Tom get a job with his company, Roadway Express. It was the perfect job, good pay and the crazy hours allowed him to go to school during the day while I worked at Lithonia Lighting Products. It was a rough couple of years but well worth it.

Tom was graduated from Georgia State College (now University) in June, 1964, with a BBA in accounting. After trying a succession of jobs, he hooked up with a couple of college buddies in public accounting and we moved to Thomaston, Georgia, in July of 1971, where we still reside.

During our time in the Atlanta area, our second daughter, Traci, was born. Denise and Traci both finished high school in Thomaston but only Traci chose to go on to college. Denise married a local Thomaston boy, Jim Edenfield, and they had a set of boyigirl twins, Adam Jackson Edenfield, and Hayley Parrish Edenfield. Unfortunately, Jim and Denise have divorced, Traci married a boy she met in college, Charlton (Chet) Huntley. Sadly, Chet and Traci have no children.

From June, 1974, until March, 1990, 1 owned and operated the local Dairy Queen store. Since selling it, I have devoted my time to being a housewife and Grandma and loving every minute of it!! (Written by Norma Riddle Jackson].

Barbara Van Horn EdEel! (Guest)

Following is some information about me since I left Pound following my junior year in 1957. If it were not for my family's relocation to West Virginia, I would have graduated with the Pound High School class of 1958. My family moved to Mannington, West Virginia, in 1957, and I graduated from Mannington High School in May of 1958.

I married Bill EdgeII, who was in the Air Force. We had a son, Bill Edge11, Jr., in 1959. We were married about three years and then divorced in 1962. In 1966, we remarried at Selfridge Air Force Base in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. We have lived in Michigan; Goldsboro, North Carolina; Anchorage, Alaska, and Sault Ste. Marie,

Michigan,

My husband retired in 1976, and we moved back to Mannington, West Virginia, where we still live. Various jobs that I have held include waitress, office clerk, cutter at a drapery factory, and switch board operator. I quit work in 1982 because of back problems. l had to have surgery on my back in 1988 and then was diagnosed with diabetes in 1989. Our son got married in 1994. We don't have much free time these days. We spend our time going to the doctors, Wal-Mart, and church,

I saw one of my best friends from Pound High School, Phyllis Taylor Dotson, in May of last year. It was the first time we had seen each other for over 44 years. We had a very nice visit. She and her husband, Frank, come to WVA every year for a week-long gospel sing. l also discovered a couple of years ago that Eugene Alderson lives about 25 miles from me. I have talked to him by telephone several times, and I hope to get together with him and his wife sometime soon for dinner. I want to wish all my friends from the Class of 1958 the best.
