Traditional marketing (outbound) vs. Social Media Marketing (inbound)
Marketing Strategy
![Page 5: SoMeGo Social Media Basics](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022052823/5552908ab4c9051f108b4a12/html5/thumbnails/5.jpg)
Traditional Marketing (push)
![Page 6: SoMeGo Social Media Basics](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022052823/5552908ab4c9051f108b4a12/html5/thumbnails/6.jpg)
Traditional marketing is quickly dying. It is ineffective, overpriced, and incredibly hard to measure ‘success.’
Does your marketing still look like this??
![Page 7: SoMeGo Social Media Basics](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022052823/5552908ab4c9051f108b4a12/html5/thumbnails/7.jpg)

By leveraging sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin businesses are able to; track customer sentiment and brand mentions in REAL-TIME, provide higher quality levels of customer service, and brand themselves as ‘industry experts.’
The playing field has never been so level.

5 Common mistakes businesses make when beginning their social media efforts
Getting Started
![Page 10: SoMeGo Social Media Basics](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022052823/5552908ab4c9051f108b4a12/html5/thumbnails/10.jpg)
No Strategy
Social Media can be an extremely powerful marketing and sales tool when used correctly. The biggest mistake we see small and large businesses making is starting without any strategy or goals in place.
You might come flying out of the gates, but there is no way you will be able to maintain or capitalize on that momentum w/out a strong strategy in place.
![Page 11: SoMeGo Social Media Basics](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022052823/5552908ab4c9051f108b4a12/html5/thumbnails/11.jpg)
Education
Social Media is so new that there aren’t any manuals or guides out there.
Being able to setup a Facebook page or register a twitter handle DOES NOT mean you understand how to USE social media
It takes a tremendous amount of time and actual experience on social networks in order to understand how to use them correctly
Which networks is your business on?
Which networks should your business be on?
Which networks are your customers on?
These are only a few questions you should be asking yourself when registering your company throughout the social web
Lack of Understanding Wrong Networks
![Page 12: SoMeGo Social Media Basics](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022052823/5552908ab4c9051f108b4a12/html5/thumbnails/12.jpg)
Slow Down!
Building your online community won’t happen overnight.
Pick one or two networks when starting out. Build a strong following / brand on these platforms first.
REMEMBER:
This is a marathon.
Not a sprint.
![Page 13: SoMeGo Social Media Basics](https://reader033.vdocument.in/reader033/viewer/2022052823/5552908ab4c9051f108b4a12/html5/thumbnails/13.jpg)
Social Media is not a miracle worker. If the product or service that your business currently offers is low quality don’t expect much.
BROKEN.
