PRINCIPAL’S NEWS - Kirsty Squires

As this is the last newsletter for this term, I would like to thank all our parents and carers for their fantastic support in all areas of school. We value having you work closely with us to maximise learning outcomes for the children. We have a wonderful number of parents and carers who participate in all our activities, thank you! Your involvement makes a difference for all, children, staff and our school grounds reflect this as well. I encourage and invite all to join in. I also want to thank the staff and all the children for their extremely hard work this term. It has been busy, with lots of wonderful experiences for all. As the holidays arrive, I hope that you have a restful and safe break and enjoy just being with your children. I also hope that the holidays will see the end of the great number of colds and flus that have been around, and that attendance in Term 4 will be exceptional for all children. The return date for Term 4 is Tuesday, 8th October as Monday is the Labour Day public holiday. Finally, we are asking that our community is vigilant during the holidays and call the Security Hotline on 1300 880 021 if you see anything unusual happening around the school.

Year 4/5 We’ve worked extremely hard this term and have certainly earnt a holiday. I hope everyone has a safe and relaxing time– no broken bones! All students will be taking their pencil cases home to re-stock, ready for Term 4. Students should have the following equipment as a minimum. 2 x lead pencils : 1 x red pen : 1 x 30cm ruler (cm & mm) : 1 glue stick and 1 pair scissors. It saves a great deal of class time if students come prepared. Enjoy the break ! Kirsty Squires Year Six It has been a busy but enjoyable term for our class. I overheard students saying that the term has gone quickly which is a positive sign. The Year 6 shirts have arrived and have been given the stamp of approval. Students are welcome to wear them any days they please. I hope all have an enjoyable holiday and then back for term 4 and then off to high school. Neil Mitchell K/1 Another term nearly done........hasn't it gone quickly! This week we will be celebrating Fruit and Veg month in our classroom. Our home-work is counting the number of serves of fruit and veg we eat each day. This is always an interesting activity. We also have two optional extra activities on our homework sheet. I would like everyone to participate in these if possible. We have also been growing grass-heads to enter into the Mangrove Mountain Country Fair. They are growing really well. We will be decorating these this week. Make sure you head up to the Fair and see your child's creation. A big thank you to all of the parents who have been able to spend some time in the classroom with us for Literacy groups. We hope you have enjoyed helping us and seeing what happens in our classroom. We look forward to seeing you again next term. I wish everyone a safe and happy holiday. Enjoy the break! Jade Cranstone 2/3 Congratulations on a hard working term 3. Have a safe holiday. Fruit and Veg Month—A reminder that permission notes for our tasting afternoon are due now. Please bring your donations on Thursday. bus and arrived at Jenolan Caves and had dinner. Then went to the caves and we were all very tired because we heard that there were 910 stairs!. The next day we went on the bus and travelled to Hartley House and saw where the convicts stayed when they were in prison. Kirra and Joe volunteered to be prisoners and get whipped with this rope (just pretend though) . We left and stopped to go for a bush walk in the Blue Mountains. When we finished we got back on the bus and went home. Chelsea

MONTH!

October is Mental Health Month and to celebrate, Orange’s

Centre for Rural and Remote Mental Health (CRRMH) is

running a Photography Competition. Adults and children of all

ages, including teachers and parents, are invited to submit up

to three photographs depicting this year’s theme:

Changing Landscapes, New Beginnings, Open Minds.

You'll go in the running to win prizes including cameras, gift

vouchers, camera accessory packs, a signed Newcastle Knights

jersey and a school's prize! Not only will there be the chance

to win a range of prizes, being creative is also a fantastic way

to keep mentally healthy. Getting involved in the arts is

enjoyable, provides a sense of achievement, and is a

distraction from everyday worries.

The competition is now open and will close at midnight on 21
