Tourist Attractions
in Great Britain and
USA
Hi, today I’m going to speak about different attractions in Great Britain and in the USA. I’m pretty sure that everyone of us likes to travel and would like to visit the USA and Great Britain, so I decided to choose this topic. It might be that you are already tired of hearing only about Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Statue of Liberty, thus I will show some attractions that will be new for you, nevertheless I hope you will like them.
Attractions in Great Britain
Garden of Cosmic
Speculation
So I’m starting with an attraction called The Garden of Cosmic Speculation, which was designed by the architecture Charles Jenks and his late wife Maggie Keswck . It is located at their private residence Portrack House near Dufries, Scotland, the garden’s design is guided by the fundamentals of modern physics and bring out the basic elements that underline the cosmos. This landscape bridge the worlds of art, nature and science, thus it elegantly combines natural features and artificial symmetry and curves. So, a water cascade of steps recounts the story of the creation of universe, a terrace shows the distorsion of space and time caused by a black hole and a series of landforms and lakes recall fracted geometry.
Highgate Cementery
Another attraction is Highgate Cemetery, which has some of the finest funerary architecture in the country. It’s a place of peace and contemplation opened in 1839 run by a private company. But in 1970’s it was left and nature took over. The most famous residents of Highgate Cemetery are James Holman, sci-fi author Douglas Adams and finally Karl Marx, which attracts a lot of tourists. The cemetery’s toms and buildings are constructed in an imposing Victorian gothic style. In the 1970’s the cemetery became the location for another English gothic tradition, the horror films. These films regenerated public interest in the cemetery, so stories of grave robbing and vampires in Highgate began appearing in the news.
Another cool place is Puzzlewood, located inside the forest of Dean near Coleford. It’s filled with beautiful grass covered rocks, bridges and fantastic rock and tree formations. The wood was used as a filming location for Merlin, Dr Who and Game of Thrones.
Attractions in the USA
Finally, let’s talk about the USA. The US is full of cool attractions that worth visiting. One of them is Yellowstone. Yellowstone National Park is the world’s first national park, set aside in 1872 to perceive the vast number of geysers, hot springs and other thermal areas, as well as to protect the incredible wildlife. The park contains half of all the world’s known geothermal features, with more than10000 examples of geysers and hot springs, in addition, black bears, grizzly bears, deer, elk, bison and wolves can all be found within the parks borders. So, if you want to feel the nature and to see it’s strength you have to visit this park.
Winchester Haunted House
Another interesting place is Winchester Mystery House, a mansion in San Jose, California which was once the personal residence of Sarah Winchester. Ever since construction in 1884 the property and mansion were claimed by many including Winchester herself to be haunted by ghosts. The House contains numerous oddities such as doors and stairs that go nowhere windows, overlooking other rooms and stairs with odd sized risers. There are 160 rooms and there was only one working toilet for Winchester, but all other restrooms were decoys to confuse spirits. This is also the reason why she slept in a different room each night.
Thank you very much for your attention, I hope you found this information useful and when you will travel to the USA and Great Britain, you will visit these attractions.
