Sonar Weekly Update March 15, 2018 A Message from the Sisters: “Always United with the Blessed Mother in Christ” Dear Parents, Seeing all of you at Student-led Conferences was wonderful. We are inspired by your dedication to your children, grateful for your support of our Staff, and strengthened by you commitment to Catholic Education. Thank you! Today our thoughts are with our 8th grade student, Colleen Lyons, as she represented NDA in the San Diego Union County Wide Spelling Bee, and with our girls Varsity Soccer Team as they compete for the North County Parochial League Championship(3:30 pm at Nativity). GO DOLPHINS! The Bonsoir team has been working tirelessly on our upcoming Gala. It is going to be such a fun night! There are several ways in which you can be a part of this wonderful event: #1 Attend Bonsoir! Just by purchasing tickets to the event you are providing support. #2 Procure two to three donations for the auction from your favorite eateries, shops or service providers. Special seating is provided to families who provide live auction items! #3 Lend your time and talent to the Bonsoir Committee. Assistance is needed with many day of, and night of, jobs. Check the Sign-up Genius link for details. Continue to check your email for additional ways that you can support our annual Gala. Your time is very much appreciated. Next week, on March 21st , the Parish will hold their Lenten Reconciliation Service in the Church, beginning at 7:00pm. The evening will begin with a brief reflective prayer ceremony and then 14 priests will be available to hear confessions. This a beautiful way to truly prepare for Easter. Yours in union with Christ and His Blessed Mother, The Sisters de l’Union-Chrétienne de St. Chaumond www.ndasd.org Lenten Meditation May our love grow each day during our Lenten journey. There is so much yet to learn, to examine, to heal, to renew. We have a sense of the patterns and a sense of the graces we are asking for, as well as the ways God is working in us. We want to be ready and our Lord wants us to be confident. So we keep asking and we keep giving thanks, throughout the day. “I am the Savior of all people,” says the Lord. “Whatever their troubles, I will answer their cry, and I will always be their Lord.” Amen Please join us, Monday, March 19th at 8am in the Dempsey Social Hall as we recognize our Middle School Principal’s Honor Roll Recipients, Academic Decathletes, and our Winter Sports Participants.

The 69th Annual St. Augustine Parochial School All County Championship

Over a two week period, the NDA Varsity Boys played their hearts out in the Saints tournament. Withan easy first round win over Holy Trinity, the boys next faced eventual champion St. Therese. The boyskept it close, but the size and strength of St. Therese was too much. The boys then battled through the

consolation bracket with wins over St. Pat’s of Carlsbad and St. Mike’s of Poway. With those wins theboys faced St. James of Solana Beach for the 3rd place championship. With their trademark defensive

pressure, along with a barrage of three pointers, the boys secured the victory. Congratulations to CoachNolen, Coach K, and Coach Cariquitan, for all their efforts this year.

Special congratulations to Teddy Fogliani, who was named to the Elite 8 of the Saints tournament.Congratulations also to McCabe Moyer on making the all-tournament team.

Girls Varsity SoccerTuesday the NDA Girls’ Varsity soccer played in a thrilling Semi-Final match against St. John’s of Encini-tas. Having lost to the previously undefeated St. John’s team earlier this year 5-0, the Dolphins were a

bit unsure of their chances. With some incredible defensive pressure by Morgan Pack, Zoe Manos,Mackenna Diltz, Victoria Jorge, and the rest of the Dolphins defense, St. John’s was held in check. On theoffensive end, the constant attacking by Ava Simone and Kaylin King gave Claire Curran opportunities tomake plays against the St. John defense. Claire made the most of her opportunities with two goals and

many more shots on goal. As the clock ran down in the second half, the excitement of the 2-1 win washard to contain. With a crowd of over 70 NDA supporters and their teammates, the celebration was on.Today, Thursday, NDA will travel to Nativity for a 3:30pm game which will decide the Champion of the

North County Parochial League. Come support Coach Curran, Coach Truong, and the Varsity Girls.Go Dolphins!
