SONDERSonder is the main project I developed

during the masters programme. It’s an

interactive platform that pretends to

simulate the effect of people-watching

in a crowd.

Trying to emphasize empathy and the

“sonder” effect. Explained as the

sudden realization that every single

human being out there has a life as

complex and vivid as your own.

SONDERWithin the Sonder website, some of

the content are comics, reflexive

illustrations, dialogues and links.

All of this in order to create

a complex environment which can

simulate the complex activity found

in a rush-hour crowd.

COMIC STRIPSIn order to explore vulnerability and

my skills to create relatable content I

have been creating short comics about

personal experiences and thoughts. I

have been putting them all up on my

instagram account to learn from people’s

reaction to them: @antoniapiaberger

WOOLGATHERINGScreenprint that was exhibited as part

of an exhibition organized by ECA

illustration 4th year undergraduate

students, around the concept of

‘woolgathering’. I think that to reach

that feeling we need a state of mind

where we can truly be relaxed. Maybe

where there is no one else? Maybe space?

Will it get lonely? Maybe the beauty of

it is how ephemeral it is.

The Woolgathering exhibition was held on

the Peanut Gallery Cafe. The reception

was amazing!

LETTERS IN TIMES OF COVID.This project was made with my friend Cam

(@cam.estela) from Chile. We didn’t know each

other that well up until now. This project let

us get to know each other better while serving

as a coping mechanism against self-isolation.

The following are instagram posts explaining

how it worked. The spanish digital version is

being distributed on Gumroad (link on image)

and will soon be translated fully to english.

Text on back cover:

Hello! How have you been?

We wanted to send you this message to thank

you for joining us on this project.

We know we couldn’t share that many letters

with you, but just the fact that you read

us made this journey between two continents

much more special. Now we have to say

goodbye, but hopefully we’ll keep seeing

each other. Maybe you wanted to tell us

something, too? Or maybe there’s another

person you would like to write to. We hope

those letters can come out of your mind onto

the paper (or the screen, haha) and find the

person you’re looking for.

Many hugs! And thanks for your company.

See you soon!!

Anto & Cam

Translation:One day we started sending each other messages.

— ‘How are you?’

We realized that we weren’t ‘fine’ and started

chatting.

In pandemic times a lot of things happen, at a

physical, mental and emotional level, of which you

can not always talk about. We had the luck to find

a safe space for us to do that: our conversations

through chat, voice messages and memes.

Cam and I met in university, but we didn’t talk

much up until I graduated and she was about to do

it too. We are very similar people, but we know

very little about each other. We have one of those

friendships that support and talk with each other

with no need of knowing much about our past. Our

practice and vision unites us.

During one of those conversations we had the idea

of writing letters to each other. And why not:

illustrated letters.

The idea was they talked about a certain prompt

we have lived or thought of this quarantine. We

know that in the future we would love to read

our past selves.

This project was born from the worry and the

acknowledgment of how important it is to take

care of our mental health, even more during hard

times collectively shared by the people around us

(and those that are not, too). We want to add a

something sweet to this bitter moment.

WIGTOWN FESTIVALCommission exercise for the key

illustration for this year’s Wigtown

Book Festival, virtual edition,

responding to the brief of connectivity

and representing the joy of sharing

a space together. Diversity is very

important to me, so I applied it here in

a subtle but upfront way.

CADAVER EXQUISITO‘Cadáver exquisito’ is a format of

collaborative work in which every

participant continues the work

previously done by another member. Here,

each designer animated 30 seconds of

a song (6minutes 30 seconds in total)

to represent the creative process of

motion graphics. We were given two

requirements: Only loose word and a

magazine print aesthetic.
