Foreword

Songs play an important part in Scouting. Through songs, the leader can set the mood and the

emotional tone for any gathering, be it for solemn or joyous occasions or any other atmosphere in

between.

As a medium for emotional expression, the leader can use songs to fit the mood of a group or the other

way around – influence the mood of a group through an appropriate song. Both, probably are true. And

singing should be recognized by leaders as a force that can be used in the field of character-influencing,

especially among Scouts.

Scouts sing not only songs for fun, for there are many fun songs to sing songs in Scouting, but songs

that fit and are appropriate for other Scouting occasions.

We sing songs of fellowship because we enjoy each other’s company and friendship; we sing songs to

commemorate events or express religious and patriotic fervor; we sing songs for greetings, farewell and

inspiration, and through the singing, the wise leader can help his Scouts find a world of beauty and

inspiration.

How To Lead A Song

1. Smile at your group. Relax. Radiate a little confidence and enthusiasm, even if you don't feel

particularly confident or enthusiastic. Morale is catching.

2. Tell them the name of the song they're going to sing. Always start with a rousing, well-known

“warm-up” number, so everybody, including you, can sing out with confidence.

3. Be sure to give the pitch. Sing a few bars yourself, or have a couple of bars played if an instrument is

available.

4. Start the singing with slight upward arm motion, then a decisive downward motion (a “downbeat”),

and begin singing yourself. Don't worry if some don't start with the first note - they'll join in quickly.

5. Beat time with a simple up and down motion of the arm - but make it definite, brisk, and in

command. In songs whose time is 2/4, 3/4 and 6/8, make the downbeat on the first beat of each

measure. In songs with 4/4 time, make downbeats on the first and third beats.

6. Control volume by raising your hands for louder, lowering them for softer.

7. Move around a little. Inject a little pep and personality.

8. Spark enthusiasm by dividing the crowd for a song or two. Groups sing on your signal.

Patriotic Songs

Pambansang Awit ng Pilipinas

(The Philippine National Anthem)

Bayang magiliw

Perlas ng silanganan

Alab ng puso

Sa dibdib mo’y buhay

Lupang hinirang

Duyan ka ng magiting

Sa manlulupig

Page 3: Songs Scouts Sing

Di ka pasisiil

Sa dagat at bundok

Sa simoy at sa langit mong bughaw

May dilag ang tula at awit

Sa paglayang minamahal

Ang kislap ng watawat mo’y

Tagumpay na nagniningning

Ang bituin at araw niya

Kailan pa ma'y di magdidilim

Lupa ng araw ng luwalhati’t pagsinta

Buhay ay langit sa piling mo

Aming ligaya na pag may mang-aapi

Ang mamatay ng dahil sa iyo.

Pilipinas Kong Mahal

(My Beloved Philippines)

Ang bayan ko’y tanging ikaw

Pilipinas kong mahal

Ang puso ko at buhay man

Sa iyo’y ibibigay

Tungkulin kong gagampanan

Na lagi kang paglingkuran

Ang laya mo’y babantayan

Pilipinas kong hirang

Page 4: Songs Scouts Sing

Bayan Ko

Ang bayan kong Pilipinas

Lupain ng ginto’t bulaklak

Pag-ibig ang sa kanyang palad

Nag-alay ng ganda’t dilag

At sa kanyang yumi at ganda

Dayuhan ay nahalina

Bayan ko, binihag ka

Nasadlak sa dusa.

Ibon mang may laying lumipad

Kulungin mo at umiiyak

Bayan pa kayang sakdal dilag

Ang di magnasang makaalpas

Pilipinas kong minumutya

Pugad ng luha ko’t dalita

Aking adhika

Makita kang sakdal laya

Ako ay Pilipino

Page 5: Songs Scouts Sing

Chorus:

Ako ay Pilipino,

Ako ay Pilipino

Isang bansa isang diwa

Ang minimithi ko

Sa bayan ko’t bandila, laan buhay ko’t diwa

Ako ay Pilipino, Pilipinong totoo

Ako ay Pilipino, Ako ay Pilipino

Taas noo kahit kanino

Ang Pilipino ay Ako!

Halina

Halina sa aming bayan,

Pilipinas ng Silangan.

Lupang kasuyo ng araw,

Ang lahat ay kaibigan.

Dumalaw kayo sa amin

At bukas ang tahanan namin.

Bawa’t aming panauhin

Ay kapatid kung ituring.

Bayan namin ay payapa,

Lahi namin ay dakila,

Halina sa aming bansa

Ng pag-ibig at paglaya!

Page 6: Songs Scouts Sing

Sampaguita

Sampaguita ng aming lipi,

Bulaklak sa sakdal ng yumi.

Ikaw ang mutya kong pinili

Na sagisag ng ating lahi.

Ang kulay mong binusilak

Ay diwa ng aming pangarap,

Ang iyong bango't halimuyak

Sa tuwina’y aming nilalanghap.

O bulaklak, na nagbibigay ligaya

O paralumang mutyang Sampaguita

Larawang mistula ng mga dalaga

Ikaw ang tanging butuing hiraman

ng kanilang ganda.

Ang iyong talulot

Ang siyang tunay na sagisag,

Ng sa dalagang pusong wagas,

Kayumian at pagkamatapat.

Pledge of Allegiance

I pledge allegiance to the flag

Of the Philippines

And to the Republic

For which it stands.

Page 7: Songs Scouts Sing

One nation under God

Indivisible, with liberty

And justice for all,

And justice for all.

Awit ni Maria Clara

(Song of Maria Clara)

Buhay ay kay-tamis sa sariling bayan,

Magiliw ang lahat ng araw.

Ang hangi’y may samyong

Nagbibigay-buhay,

Philippines, The Beautiful

O beautiful for spacious skies,

For amber waves of grain,

For purple mountains majesties

Above the fruited plain.

Page 8: Songs Scouts Sing

My Philippines, my Philippines,

God shed his grace on thee,

And crown thy good with brotherhood,

From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for toiler’s hands,

Whose labor Thou dost bless

Creating fields and fruitlands

From barren wilderness.

My Philippines, dear Philippines,

God mend thine every flaw,

Confirm thy soul in self control,

Thy liberty in law.

O beautiful for heroes proved

In liberating strife,

Who more than self their country loved,

And mercy more than life!

My Philippines, loved Philippines,

My God thy gold refine

Till all success be nobleness

And every gain divine!

Scouting Spirit

Hail, Hail Scouting Spirit

Hail! hail! Scouting Spirit,

Page 9: Songs Scouts Sing

Best in the land.

Hail! hail! Scouting Spirit

Loyal we stand.

Onward and upward we’re treading,

Always alert to make Scouting ready,

We are prepared.

Hail! hail! Scouting Spirit

Hail! hail! hail!

Scout-Hearted Men

Give me some men who are Scout-hearted men

Who will fight for the right they adore

Start me with ten who are Scout-hearted men,

And I’ll soon give you ten thousand more.

Shoulder to shoulder and bolder and bolder

They grow as they go on the fore!

Then – there’s nothing in the world

Can halt or march a plan

When Scout-hearted men

Can stick together man to man!

On My Honor

On my honor, I’ll do my best

To do my duty to God.

On my honor, I’ll do my best

To serve my country as I may,

Page 10: Songs Scouts Sing

On my honor, I'll do my best

To do my Good Turn each day

To keep my body strengthened

And keep my mind awakened

To follow paths of righteousness.

On my honor, I’ll do my best.

BSP Anniversary Song

[Lyrics by RR de la Cruz]

They’re the hopes of Filipinas

They’re the future of the land

Watch them marching

Hear them cheering

Theirs is a mighty band!

They’re the younger generation

They’re the youngsters of today

Yet tomorrow, men will follow

Whatever they might say!

Hail! Boy Scouts of Filipinas

Here’s a lusty cheer for thee

Hear the nation on this occasion

Your happy anniversary.

Makiling, You’re For Me

(Tune: A Place)

I know a place

Where Scouters always go

Page 11: Songs Scouts Sing

Where there is fun

And hearts are all aglow

It overlooks the bay as it rises to the sky

Where the moonbeams flirt with dewdrops

As the breezes sigh

God fills the soul, the body and the mind

Scouting ideals are never hard to find

Now I know, Makiling is the place for me

Makiling, you’re for me!

Makiling, you’re for me!

Makiling, you’re for me!

Scouting Spirit

I don't care if it rains or freezes

As long as I have the Scouting spirit

Right here deep in my heart

Thru all kinds of stormy weather

Me and my BP will stick together

Right here deep in my heart

Scouting spirit (2x)

Right here deep in my heart

O my Lord full of grace

Help me find a peaceful place

Right here deep in my heart.

I’ve Got A Home In Makiling

I’ve got a home in Makiling

Page 12: Songs Scouts Sing

the outshines the sun

I’ve got a home in Makiling

the outshines the sun

I’ve got a home in Makiling

the outshines the sun

Way beyond the blue.

Do! Lord, O do Lord

Oh do remember me

Do! Lord, oh do Lord

Oh do remember me

Do! Lord, oh do Lord

Oh do remember me

Way beyond the blue.

Scouting We Go

Scouting we go,

Scouting we go.

Sunlit trails

And lands where waters flow,

By the campfire’s friendly flaming glow.

Scouting we go.

Scouting we go.

When Scouters Eyes Are Smiling

When Scouters eyes are smiling,

Sure it's like a morn in spring.

In the lilt of Scouter’s laughter

You can hear the angels sing.

Page 13: Songs Scouts Sing

When Scouters hearts are happy

All the world see bright and gay

And when Scouters eyes are smiling,

Sure they steal your heart away.

Shout A Cheer For Scouting (Tune: Don’t Give Up the Ship)

Never mind the weather

Scouting marches on

When we stand together

The world will know

The scouting marches on!

We shall work for Scouting

Till our job is done

Let us shout a cheer for Scouting

Keep it as a jolly outing,

Scouting marches on!

Hail to All Scouts

Hail to all Scouts

A group of loyal friends we’ll say,

Men, boys and all

Will make the job all fun and play.

God, flag and home,

The password for each night and day.

Hail! Scouting Spirit

Let’s all hail the Scouting way!

Page 14: Songs Scouts Sing

Commitment Song

I’ll give my hand

To those who cannot see,

The sunrise or the falling rain.

I’ll sing my song

The cheer the weary along,

For I may never pass this way again.

I’ll share my faith

With every troubled heart,

For I shall not have lived in vain.

I’ll give my hand,

I’ll sing my song,

I’ll share my faith because I know –

That the time has come

To fulfill each vow

For I may never pass this way again.

I’ve Got That Scouting Spirit

I’ve got that Scouting spirit

Up in my head, up in my head

Up in my head

I’ve got that Scouting spirit

Up in my head, up in my head to stay.

Boy Scout Flag Song

In the heart of every Scout

There is honor for the flag,

And a thought of all its glories of the past.

And each Scout has made a vow

That his faith will never lag

To the Glory of the country that he loves….

Tramp, tramp, tramp,

The Scouts are marching,

Under the smiling skies above.

By the red and white and blue

We will hold forever true.

To the glory of the country that we love…

All Over the World

All over world

Scouting is moving.

All over the world

You’ll find Scouting friends.

All over the world,

There are million Scouts and Scouters.

For the glory of Scouting

Let’s unite and just be one.

Walking all the way,

Walking everyday.

Walking with B.P

Walking with the Scouting Way.

Heavenly sunshine (2x)

Alleluia, Scouting is fun.

We Are in the B.S.P

We sang last night

We sang the night before,

And we’re going to sing tonight

As we’ve never sang before.

For when we’re singing

We’re happy as can be

For we are in the BSP.

This Little Scouting Light of Mine

This little Scouting light of mine,

I’m going to let it shine.

This little Scouting light of mine,

I’m going to let it shine.

This little scouting light of mine,

I’m going to let it shine.

Let it shine, let it shine all the time

There‘s Something About a Boy Scout (Tune: There’s Something About a Soldier)

There’s something about a Boy Scout,

There’s something about a Boy Scout,

There’s something about a Boy Scout

That is fine, fine, fine;

He’ll work for a badge of merit,

He’s proud of the chance to wear it,

He’s learned to be prepared

All the time, time, time.

He’ll never be an outlaw

If he’ll obey the Scout Law,

He’s ever up and about,

He toes the line, line, line.

Page 18: Songs Scouts Sing

On his oath to do his best,

That’s enough, you know the rest,

There’s something about the Boy Scout

That is fine, fine, fine.

On The Trail

We’re on the Upward Trail

We’re on the upward trail,

We’re in the upward trail,

Singing as we go ,

Scouting bound.

We’re on the upward trail,

We’re on the upward trail,

Singing, singing, everyday singing,

Scouting bound.

The Happy Wanderer

I love to go a –wandering,

Along the mountain track,

And as I go I love to sing,

My knapsack on my back.

Chorus:

Valderi, valdera, valderi, valdera

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

Vaderi, valdera

Page 19: Songs Scouts Sing

My knapsack on my back.

I love to wander by the stream

That dances in the sun,

So joyously it calls to me

Come! Join my happy song!

I wave my hat to all I meet,

And they wave back to me,

And bluebirds call so loud and sweet

From every greenwood tree.

High overhead, the skylarks wing

They never rest at home,

But just like me, they love to sing

As o’er the world we roam.

Oh may I go a-wandering

Until the day I die,

Oh, may I always laugh and sing

Beneath God’s clear blue sky!

Over There

Over there, over there,

Send the word, send the word,

Over there.

That the boys are coming,

The boys are coming

The drums run tumming ev’rywhere;

So prepare, say a pray’r

Send the word, send the word to beware,

Page 20: Songs Scouts Sing

We’ll be over, we’re coming over

And we won’t come back till it’s over,

Over there.

When Johnny Comes Marching Home

When Johnny comes marching home again

Hurrah, hurrah!

We’ll give him a hearty welcome then,

Hurrah, hurrah!

The men will cheer, the boys will shout,

The ladies they will all turn out.

And we’ll all feel gay,

When Johnny comes marching home!

The old church-bell will peal with joy,

Hurrah, hurrah!

The village lads and lassies say

Hurrah, hurrah!

With roses they will strew the way,

And we’ll all feel gay

When Johnny comes marching home!

The Rover Song

Bold Rovers are we and happy to be together,

A shake of the hand, a pledge that we stand together

Wand’ring out in God’s good air,

Finding sunshine everywhere

We’re hitting the trail through mountain and dale together

Happy healthy pals are we.

Page 21: Songs Scouts Sing

Chorus:

Though winds may blow across the sea,

Whate’er may be our destiny,

Comrades we’ll always be

Until our life is done.

We’ll share our laughter and our tears

We’ll share each other’s hopes and fears

And like three famous Musketeers

One for all and all for one.

We steer to the right with hearts that are light together,

At night by the fire a song we inspire together,

Shouting greetings round and round,

Through the world our camping ground,

Our life we shall spend wisely to the end together,

Singing out our Rover song.

I’m Happy When I’m Hiking

Tramp, Tramp, tramp, tramp,

Tramp, tramp, tramp, tramp,

I’m happy when I’m hiking, pack upon my back,

I’m happy when I’m hiking, off the beaten track.

Out in the open country, that’s the place for me,

With a good scout friend, to the journey's end.

Ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty miles away

Tramp, tramp, tramp, tramp,

Tramp………………… Tramp

Trek Cart Song

Over hill, over dale

As we hit the river trail, and the trek cart goes rolling along.

In and out, hear them shout

Gee! I'm glad that I'm a Scout

And the trek cart goes rolling along.

Then it’s hi-hi-hee!

It is the life for me,

Start the day and end it with a song

Wherever you go, you will always know that the trek cart goes rolling along.

Keep it rolling (shout)

That our trek cart goes rolling along .

Troop halt! (shout)

And Scouts answer

One, two.

Sing Your Way Home

Sing your way home, at the close of the day,

Sing your way home, drive the shadows away,

Smile every mile for wherever you roam,

It will brighten your road, it will lighten your load,

If you sing your way home.

Jubilee (1957) Jamboree Song

March, march, march on the road with me,

To the boys Scout Jamboree.

Join the throng and swing along,

As we sing our song.

Chorus:

Jamboree! (clap, clap) Jamboree! (clap, clap)

Come give three hearty cheers,

And we’ll march along together,

Another fifty years.

Page 24: Songs Scouts Sing

Ev’ry hour let the valley ring,

With the Scouting songs we sing,

Underneath the stars at night

In the camp fire’s light.

We’re the boys of the left-hand shake,

Boy Scouts all and wide-awake,

Hiking over hill and dale,

Singing on the trail.

Years from now down a mem’ry lane,

We shall walk and live again.

These great days with you and me,

At the Jamboree!

Jamboreelied

Brothers listen to the melody

Meet together for another jamboree

Let us light the friendship fires again

Keep them burning whether sun or rain

Chorus:

Let’s sing together

Let’s join in song and let the sound

Spread sunshine all the world around through the Jamboree

Let’s sing together

Walk arm in arm as comrades do

Let’s make our Scouting pledge anew

For friends and peace.

Page 25: Songs Scouts Sing

Sing Sing Sing

You’ve gotta sing, sing, sing and be merry,

You’ve gotta shout, shout, shout, and be gay,

You gotta grin ,grin, grin, make a din ,din, din,

For the Boy Scouts are gathered today.

You gotta yell, yell, yell and be noisy,

You gotta cheer, cheer, cheer, 'till you're hoarse

You gotta clap, clap, clap, and to tap, tap, tap

For the Boy Scouts are gathered today.

It doesn’t matter if we’ve met before,

It doesn’t matter if you’re new.

You’ve gotta be in the gang and join in the fun

Or we’ll never make a boy Scout out of you!

Vive L’amour

Let every good fellow now join in the song,

Vive la compagnie!

Success to each other and pass it long,

Viva la compagnie!

Chorus:

Vive la, viva la, vive l’amour,

Vive la, vive la,vive l’amour,

Vive l’amour, vive l’amour,

Vive la compagnie!

A friend on your left and a friend on your right,

Vive la compagnie!

In love and good fellowship let us unite,

Vive la compagnie!

Should time or occasion compel us to part,

Vive la compagnie!

These days shall forever enliven the heart,

Vive la compagnie!

Hi-Ho

Hi –ho, nobody home,

Meat nor drink

Nor money have I none;

Yet will I be merry.

Hi-ho…

Pack Up Your Troubles

Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag

And smile, smile, smile.

While you’ve a Lucifer to light your fag

Smile, boys, that’s the style.

What’s the use of worrying?

It never was worthwhile, so -

Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag and

Smile, smile, smile.

Happy Days are Here Again

Happy days are here again,

Page 27: Songs Scouts Sing

The skies above are clear again,

Let us sing a song of cheer again,

Happy days are here again.

All together shout it now,

There’s no one who can doubt it now,

Let us sing a song that’s cheerful now,

Happy days are here again.

All cares and troubles are gone

There will be more fun from now on.

Happy days are here again

The skies above are clear again

Let us sing a song of cheer again

Happy days are here again.

Roll Me Over The Ocean

Roll me over the ocean,

Roll me over the sea,

Roll me over the ocean

And the deep blue sea. (repeat stanza)

It’s love, it’s love, it’s love that makes the world go round. (3x)

It’s love that makes the world go round.

It’s wine - that makes the head go round

It’s girls - that make the heart go round

It’s skirts - that make the shorts go round

Page 28: Songs Scouts Sing

Smiles

There are smiles that make us happy

There are smiles that make us blue

There are smiles that steal away the teardrops

As the sunbeams steal away the dew.

There are smiles that have a tender meaning

That the eyes of love alone may see,

But the smiles that fill my life with sunshine

Are the smiles that you give to me.

If There’s Any trouble Just You Smile

If there’s any trouble just you smile,

If there’s any trouble just you smile,

And if there’s any trouble

It will vanish like a bubble

If you only take the trouble just you smile.

Laugh

Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha!

Giggle

Roll Out the Barrel

Roll out the barrel

Rollout the barrel of fun

Roll out the barrel

We’ll have the guys on the run.

Zing, boom, tarallel

Ring out the song of good cheer

Page 29: Songs Scouts Sing

Now’s the time to roll the barrel

For the gang’s all here.

Joy, Joy

Joy, joy, my heart is full of joy

Joy, joy, my heart is full of joy

For Scouters and friends are here today

That’s the reason why my heart is full of joy.

Old Banjo

I used to have an old banjo

And played it on my knee.

But now the strings are broken down

And it’s no good to me.

I took it to a mender’s shop

To see what he could do,

But still the strings are broken down

And it’s no good to me.

I took it to another shop,

To see what they could do.

And now the strings are fixed up

And it’s as good as new.

Edelweis

Edelweis, edelweis,

Every morning you greet me.

Small and white, clean and bright;

Page 30: Songs Scouts Sing

You look happy to meet me.

Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow,

Bloom and grow forever;

Edelweis, edelweis,

Bless my homeland forever.

I’m Going Back Home

I’m going back home, to mount Makiling,

Where the sunshine never fades.

I’m going back home, to mount Makiling,

Where the sunshine never fades.

I miss the sunshine, I miss the rain,

I miss the moonlight on Scouter’s lane.

I’m going back home to mount Makiling

Where the sunshine never fades.

Hail, hail, to you! (Hail to you)

Hail, hail, to you! (Hail to you)

When I look at, look at you

And you look at, look at me

Keep your smile and hail to you.

I’m going back home to Mount Makiling

Where the sunshine never fades.

Campfire’s Burning

Campfire’s burning, campfire’s burning,

Draw nearer, draw nearer,

Concert in the Park

And that, was that a concert in the Park

Where they met in the dark

The music was so nice, they played it over twice

And the band was playing...

(the group pointed to sing their song)

Each Campfire Lights Anew

Each campfire lights a-new

The flame of friendship true

The joy we've had in knowing you

Will last the whole year through.

Taps Day is done, gone the sun

From the lake, from the hills,

From the sky.

Safely rest,

Inspirational Songs

Wonderful world

Refrain:

Wonderful, wonderful

Wonderful, wonderful world.

Wonderful, wonderful

Wonderful, wonderful world.

I

If we could consider each other,

A neighbor, a friend or a brother

This could be a wonderful, wonderful world,

This could be a wonderful world.

II

If each little boy could have Scouting each day,

If each working man had enough time to play;

If each homeless soul had a nice place to stay,

This could be a wonderful world.

III

If there were no poor and the rich were content,

If strangers were welcome wherever they went;

If each of us knew what true brotherhood meant;

This could be a wonderful world

*** repeat refrain after each stanza ***

Page 39: Songs Scouts Sing

It’s A Small World

It’s a world of laughter, a world of tears;

It’s a world of hopes and a world of fears.

There’s so much that we share and it’s time we’re aware

It’s a small world after all.

It’s a small world after all.

It’s a small world after all.

It’s a small world after all.

It’s a small, small world.

There’s just but one moon and a golden sun

And a smile means friendship to everyone.

Though the mountains divide and the oceans are wide

It’s a small world after all.

One Little candle

It is better to light just one little candle

Than to stumble in the dark.

Better far that you light just one little candle

All you need is a tiny spark.

If we’ll all say a pray’r that the world would be free;

The wonderful dawn of a new day we’ll see;

And if everyone lit just one little candle;

What a bright world this would be.

We Shall Overcome

We shall overcome,

Page 40: Songs Scouts Sing

We shall overcome,

We shall overcome, someday.

Oh, deep in my heart, I do believe

We shall overcome someday.

2. We shall overcome today

3. We’ll walk hand in hand.

A Little Love (A boy’s plea)

A little love that slowly grows and grows,

Not one that comes and goes

That’s all I ask of you.

A sunny day to look up to the sky

A hand to help me by

That’s all I ask of you.

Don’t let me down

Oh, show me that you care.

Remember when you give

You also get a share.

Don’t let me down

I have no time to wait,

Tomorrow may not come

By then will be too late.

(Repeat from Don’t let me down…)

Page 41: Songs Scouts Sing

O Pag-ibig (A Little Love)

O pag-ibig at pagsintang tunay

Na tangi kong taglay,

Sa iyo’y iaalay.

Lingapin mo at pag-asa’y bigyan

Ang abang puso ko

Sa iyo’y nagmamahal.

Huwag mo sanang hayaang magdusa

Pag-ibig sa akin iyong ipapadama

Tandaan mo na ang pag-ibig ko

Tanging iaalay

Sa iyo aking mahal.

Trees

I think that I shall never see

A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed,

Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast.

A tree that looks at God all day,

And lifts her leafy arms to pray.

A tree that may, in summer wear

A nest of robins in her hair.

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;

Who intimately lives with rain,

Poems are made by fools like me,

But only God can make a tree.

Page 42: Songs Scouts Sing

Everything Together

We can do everything together,

Everything together for the boy.

There’s nothing we can never do,

Never can do anything at all.

We can solve, many different problems

If we work together for the boy,

All our troubles will vanish away

And we’ll have a brand new day. (2x)

Special Day

Fill the air with song of cheer

With voices loud and clear,

For people around you

Are Scouts who love you

Love you in a special way

And so before say goodbye

Give us your great, big smile

Brighten up, let’s all be gay

(It’s a very special day) 2x

Roll, Roll, Your Burden’s Away

Roll, roll your burdens away,

Roll, roll your burdens away,

For Scouting has promised to take them all;

Roll, roll your burdens away.

Page 43: Songs Scouts Sing

Today

Today while the blossoms still cling to the vine,

I’ll taste your strawberries,

I’ll drink your sweet wine.

A million tomorrows shall all pass away,

Ere I’ll forget all the joy that are mine today.

I’ll be a dandy and I’ll be a rover,

You’ll know who I am by the songs that I sing.

I’ll sleep in your clover, I’ll feast at your table,

Who cares what the morrow may bring.

I can’t be contented with yesterday’s glory

I can’t live on promises winter to spring.

Today is my moment and now is my story

I’ll laugh and I’ll cry and I’ll sing.

Oh Freedom Oh freedom, oh freedom

Oh freedom over me

And before I’d be slave

I’ll be buried in my grave

And go home to my Lord and be free

No more mourning, no more mourning

No more mourning over me

Repeat refrain:

2. Crying

3. There’ll be: Singing, Clapping, Dancing, Scouting

Page 44: Songs Scouts Sing

It” s A Long Road to freedom

It’s a long road to freedom

A-winding steep and high,

But when you walk in love

With the wind on your wings,

And cover the earth

With songs you sing

The miles fly by.

Guide a boy

Never walk through the world all alone,

Never leave all the paths you have trodden.

Every day is a bright new tomorrow,

Yesterday must not be all forgotten.

The boys are all hoping and wishing that you

Will guide them on their way.

So give all you’ve got, never leave anything,

True love is found in Scouting.

So walk with the boy in your hand,

Guiding him through the path full of sunshine,

Never leave any path still untrodden ,

Never leave any stone still unturned.

I Believe

I believe for every drop of rain that falls,

A flower grows.

Page 45: Songs Scouts Sing

I believe that somewhere in the darkest night,

A candle glows.

I believe for everyone who goes astray,

Someone will come to show the way.

I believe, I believe.

I believe above the storm

The smallest pray’r will still be heard

I believe that someone in the great somewhere,

Hears every words.

(Every time I hear a new-born baby cry,

Or touch a leaf, or see the sky

Then I know why I believe.) 2x

I’m Gonna Sing

Scout Leader’s Prayer

Page 46: Songs Scouts Sing

Our Father in Heaven

Above us we ask Thee

For guidance in our daily task.

May virtue and manhood

Stand strongly among us

To thee we give all of our thanks.

The scout Oath, the Scout Law,

Their lessons unfolding

To our youth in numbers untold.

Our Motto, our Good Turn,

May we live it and teach it,

Great Spirit of Scouting we pray.

Tell Me Why

Tell me why the stars do shine,

Tell me why the ivy twines.

Tell me why the sky’s so blue

Tell me ------- (dear Scouter)

Just why I love you.

Because God made the stars to shine,

Because God made the ivy twines.

Because God made the skies so blue

Dear old (Scouter)

That’s why I love you.

Anak ng Dalita

Page 47: Songs Scouts Sing

He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands

Chorus:

He’s got the whole world in His hands,

He’s got the whole wide world in His hands,

He’s got the whole world in His hands,

He's got the whole world in His hands.

I

He’s got the little bitty baby in His Hands. (3x)

Page 48: Songs Scouts Sing

You’ll Never walk Alone

When you walk through a storm

Hold your head up high,

And don’t be afraid of the dark.

At the end of the storm is a golden sky

And a sweet silver song of the lark.

Walk on through the wind,

Walk on through the rain,

Though your dreams be tossed and blown,

Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart,

And you’ll never walk alone,

You’ll never walk alone.

No man is an Island

No man is an island, no man stand alone;

Each man's joy is joy to me,

Each man's grief is my own.

We need one another, so I will defend

Each man as my brother, each man as my friend.

Refrain:

I saw the people gather, I heard the music stand,

The song that they were singing

Is singing in my heart.

God Made Those Beautiful Flowers

Who made the beautiful flowers?

Page 49: Songs Scouts Sing

I know , I know,

God made those beautiful flowers,

That’s why we love Him So.

In My Fathers House

O come and go with me (Hallelujah)

To my Father’s house (Hallelujah)

Let’s The Rest Of The World Go By

With someone like you

A pal good and true

I’d like to leave it all behind

And go and find

Some place that’s known

To God alone

Just a spot to call our own

We’ll find perfect peace

Page 50: Songs Scouts Sing

Where joys never cease

But there beneath the kindly sky

We’ll build a sweet little nest

Somewhere in the West

And let the rest of the world go by.

When Somebody Cares For You

No matter how the winds may blow

Good times may come, good times may go

How wonderful it is to know

That somebody cares for you.

Whenever days have cloudy skies

The world may seem too misty-eyed

True lovers know love never dies

When somebody cares for you.

Somebody who will lead the way.

Somebody who will hear you say,

Follow me and take my hand

And you will surely understand.

The world may seem unjust and bad

With all your dreams you never had

But love can take away the time

When somebody cares for you.

A Place

I know a place where no one ever goes

There’s peace and quiet, beauty and repose.

It’s hidden in the valley beside a mountain stream.

And lying there beside the stream

I found that I can dream.

Only of things of beauty to the eyes,

Snow-peaked mountains, climbing to the skies

Now I know that God made this world for me.

Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep

Now I lay me down to sleep,

Angels watching over me, my Lord.

Pray the Lord my soul to keep,

Angels watching over me.

Chorus:

All day, all night,

Angels watching over me, my Lord.

All day, all night.

Angels watching over me.

Page 53: Songs Scouts Sing

And if I die before I wake

Angels watching over me, my Lord.

Pray the Lord my soul to keep

Angels watching over me.

Scouts’ Vesper Song

Softly falls the light of day

As sour camp fire fades away;

Silently each Scout should ask

Have I done my daily task?

Have I kept my honor bright?

Can I guiltless sleep tonight?

Have I done and have I dared

Everything to be prepared?

The Morning Prayer (Tune: Maryland)

Lord, in this morning hour I pray

For strength to live my best today.

Draw near to me, and I shall see

The kind of man Thou’d have me be,

I’m serving others may I see

That I am only serving thee,

Fit me, Oh Lord, in thy great plan,

That I may be a better man.

Music Alone Shall Live

Page 54: Songs Scouts Sing

All things shall perish from under the sky.

Music alone shall live,

Music alone shall live,

Music alone shall live,

Never to die.

Old Favorites

Ramona

Ramona, I hear the mission bells above,

Ramona, They’re ringing out our song of love.

I praise you, caress you,

And bless the day you taught me to care

I’ll always remember

The rambling rose you wore in your hair.

Ramona, when day is done you’ll hear my call,

Ramona, we’ll meet beside the waterfall,

I dread the dawn when I awake to find you gone

Ramona, I need you my own.

You Are My Sunshine

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine,

You make me happy when skies are gray.

You’ll never know dear, how much I love you;

Please don’t take my sunshine away.

The other night dear as I lay sleeping;

I dreamt I held you in my arms.

Page 55: Songs Scouts Sing

When I awoke dear, I was mistaken,

So I hung my head and cried.

Down In the Valley

Down in the valley, the valley so low,

Hang your head over, hear the wind blow,

Hear the wind blow dear, hear the wind blow;

Hang your head over, hear the wind blow.

Write me a letter, containing three lines,

Answer my question, will you be mine?

Will you be mine dear? Will you be mine?

Answer my question, will you be mine?

Build me a castle forty feet high

So I can see her, as she rides by;

As the rides by dear, as she rides by;

So I can see her as she rides by.

Roses love sunshine, violets love dew

Angels in heaven know I love you;

Know I love you dear, know I love you;

Angel in heaven, know I love you.

Moonlight Bay

We were sailing along, on moonlight bay

We could hear the voices singing,

They seem to say,

You have stolen my heart,

Now don’t go away,

Page 56: Songs Scouts Sing

As we sing love’s old sweet song

On moonlight bay.

I Want A Girl

I want a girl, just like the girl

That married dear old Dad.

She was a pearl and the only girl

That Daddy ever had.

A good old-fashioned girl with heart so true.

One who loves nobody else but you.

I want a girl, just like the girl

That married dear old Dad.

When I Grow Too Old To Dream

We had been gay, going our way

Life has been beautiful, we have been young

Yet will find you in my mind

Beckoning over the years.

Chorus:

When I grow too old to dream

I’ll have you to remember

When I grow too old to dream

Your love will live in my heart.

So kiss me, my sweet

And, come, let us part

For when I grow too old to dream

That kiss will live in my heart.

Springtime In The Rockies

When it’s springtime in the Rockies

I’ll be coming back to you.

Little sweetheart of the mountain

With your bonnie eyes of blue.

Once again I’ll say, “I love you”

While the birds sing all the day;

When it’s springtime in the Rockies

In the Rockies far away.

Beautiful Brown Eyes

Beautiful, beautiful brown eyes

Beautiful, beautiful brown eyes

Beautiful, beautiful brown eyes

I’ll never love blue eyes again.

Willie, oh Willie, I love you

I love you with all my heart

I know you and I would have married

But one of us had to depart.

Refrain:

Getting up early each morning

Working and toilin' all day

Supper to fix in the evening

But brown eyes he just will not stay.

(Repeat refrain)

Down By the old Mill Streams

Down by the old (new) mill stream (river)

Where I first (second) met you (them)

With your eyes (nose) so blue (green)

Dressed in gingham (silk) too (one)

It was there (here) I knew (old)

That you love (hate) me true (false)

You were sixteen (fifteen)

A village queen (king)

Down by the old (new) mill stream (river)

Always

I’ll be loving you always

With a love that’s true, always

When the things you’ve planned

Need a helping hand

I will understand, always, always.

By The Light Of The Silvery Moon

By the light of the silver moon,

I want to spoon,

To my honey I’ll croon, love's tune

Honey moon, keep on shining in June

You silvery beams, will love dreams,

We’ll be cuddling up soon,

By the silvery moon.

Page 59: Songs Scouts Sing

True Love

Come and sit by my side little darling

I’m living you just for a while

Oh promise me that you will never

Be nobody’s darling but mine.

Even though you’re away little darling

You’ll always be here in my heart

I promise I will never ever

Forget you’re my only true love.

You’re as sweet as a rose in the springtime,

And bright the stars up above.

Oh promise me that you will never

Be nobody’s darling but mine.

Beautiful Dreamer

Beautiful dreamer wake unto me;

Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee.

Sounds of the rude world heard in the day,

Lulled by the moonlight have all passed away.

Beautiful dreamer, queen of my song;

List while I woo thee, with soft melody.

Gone are the cares of life’s busy throng,

Beautiful dreamer awake unto me,

Beautiful dreamer awake unto me.

Singing in the Rain

Page 60: Songs Scouts Sing

I’m singing in the rain,

Just singing in the rain;

What a glorious feeling,

I’m happy again.

I’m laughing at the clouds

So dark up above,

The sun’s in my heart

And I’m ready for love.

Let the stormy clouds chase

Everyone from the place;

Come on with the rain,

I’ve a smile on my face.

I’ll walk down the lane

With a happy refrain,

And singing, just singing in the rain.

Can’t Help Falling in Love

Wise men say only fools rush in;

But I can’t help falling in love with you.

Shall I say would it be a sin,

But I can’t help falling in love with you.

Like the river flows surely to the sea;

Darling so it goes

Something are meant to be.

Take my hands, take my whole life through;

But I can’t help falling in love with you.

Silver Thread Among The Gold

Page 61: Songs Scouts Sing

Darling, I’m growing old,

Silver threads among the gold.

Shine upon my brow today,

Life is fading, fast away.

But my darling, you will be, will be

Always young and fair to me,

Yes! My darling, you will be,

Always young and fair to me.

Refrain:

Darling, I’m growing old

Silver threads among the gold

Shine upon my brow today

Life is fading fast away.

When your hair is silver white

And your cheeks no longer bright;

With the roses of the May

I will kiss your lips and say;

Oh! My darling, mine alone, alone,

You have never older grown.

Love can never more grow old,

Locks may lose their brown and gold;

Cheeks may fade and hallow grow

But the hearts that love will know.

Never, never winter’s frost and chill;

Summer warmth is in them still.

Never winter’s frost and chill;

Summer warmth is in them still.

Page 62: Songs Scouts Sing

Silver Threads

Love is always young and fair,

What to us is silver hair,

Faded cheeks or steps grown slow,

To the heart that beat below?

Since I kiss’d you, mine alone

You have never older grown.

Jaunita

Soft o’er the mountain,

Ling’ring falls the southern moon;

Far o’er the mountain breaks the day too soon!

In the dark eyes’ splendor,

Where the warm light loves to dwell

Weary looks, yet tender speak their fond farewell!

Nita! Juanita! Ask thy soul if we should part!

Nita! Juanita! Lean thou on my heart.

When it thy dreaming,

Moons like these shall shine again,

And daylight beaming prove thy dreams are in vain,

Wilt thou not relenting, for thine absent love’s sigh.

In thy heart consenting

To a prayer gone by?

Nita! Juanita! Let me linger by thy side!

Nita! Juanita! Be my own fair bride!

Winds of The Sea

He sailed away at break of day

As I stood there on the shore

He waved his hands and it made me cry

Till I found my love no more.

Refrain:

Blow, blow winds of the sea

My love is waiting somewhere for me

Blow, blow winds of the sea

Bring back my loved one to me.

The winds blew in from dawn to dawn

I see the ships passing by

But not a word from the one I love

Since the time he said goodbye.

(Repeat refrain)

The years passed by and here am I

Alone with my memories

My love is gone but I’ll carry on

With the winds that blew for me.

Let Me Call You Sweatheart

Boys:

Let me call you sweetheart

I’m in love with you.

Let me hear you whisper,

That you love me, too.

There’s a lovelight burning

Page 64: Songs Scouts Sing

In your eyes so blue,

Let me call you sweetheart,

I’m in love with you.

Girls:

Don’t you call me sweetheart

I am through with you.

Give me back my letters

And my pictures, too.

There’s no lovelight gleaming

In your heart untrue;

Don’t you call me sweetheart,

I’m through with you.

(Sing in unison)

Ciribiribee

Ciribiribee, with hearts so free,

We’ll sing and dance this melody.

Ciribiribee, ah what romance,

With hearts in harmony

Ciribiribee, what ecstasy,

To sing through life so merrily

Ciribiribee, ciribiribee,

Ciribiribee means love for thee.

She’ll Be coming Round the Mountain

She’ll be coming 'round the mountain when she comes.

She’ll be coming 'round the mountain when she comes.

Page 65: Songs Scouts Sing

She’ll be coming 'round the mountain,

She’ll be coming 'round the mountain,

She’ll be coming 'round the mountain when she comes.

2. She’ll be driving six white horses…

3. And we’ll kill the little red rooster...

4. And we’ll all have chicken and dumplings…

Softly As I leave You

Softly, I will leave you softly,

For my heart would break

If you should wake and see me go.

So I’ll leave you softly,

Long before you miss me,

Long before your arms,

Can beg me stay;

For one more hour,

Or one more day.

After all the years

I can’t bear the tears

To fall so softly;

As I leave you there.

As I leave you there.

I’ve Been Working on the Railroad

I’ve been working on the railroad

All the live long-day.

I’ve been working on the railroad,

Rise up so early in the morn,

Can’t you hear the captain shouting?

Dinah won’t you blow,

Dinah won’t you blow your horn!) 2x

Someone’s in the kitchen with Dinah.

Someone’s in the kitchen I know, I know.

Someone’s in the kitchen with Dinah,

Strumming on the old banjo and singing;

Fi-fie, fiddle-i-o,

Fi-fie, fiddle-i-o,

Fi-fie, fiddle-i-o,

Strumming in the old banjo.

Clementine

In a cavern, in a canyon,

Excavating for a mine;

Dwelt a miner, forty niner,

And his daughter Clementine.

Oh my darling, oh my darling,

Oh my darling Clementine;

You are lost and gone forever,

Dreadful sorry Clementine.

Light she was and like a fairy

Page 67: Songs Scouts Sing

And her shoes were no. 9

Herring boxes, without topses

Sandals were for Clementine.

Drove she ducklings to the water,

Every morning just at nine;

Hit her foot against a splinter,

Fell into the foaming brine.

Saw her lips above the water,

Blowing bubbles, mighty fine;

But alas! I was no swimmer,

So I lost my Clementine.

Oh, Susanna

I came to Alabama with my banjo on my knee,

I’m gwine to Louisiana my true love for to see

It rained all night the day I left,

De weather it was dry

De sun so hot I froze to death;

Sussana, don’t you cry.

Chorus:

Oh, Susanna, oh, don’t cry for me

I’ve come from Alabama with my banjo on my knee.

Oh, Susanna, oh, don’t cry for me

I’ve come from Alabama with my banjo on my knee.

I had a dream last night,

When everything was still;

I thought I saw Susanna a-coming down the hill.

Page 68: Songs Scouts Sing

De buck wheat cake was in her mouth,

De tear was in her eyes;

Says I, I’m coming from the south,

Susanna, don’t you cry.

Old Black Joe

Gone are the days,

When my heart was young and gay.

Gone are my friends from the cotton fields away,

Gone from the earth, to a better land I know,

I hear their gentle voice calling “Old Black Joe.”

I’m coming, I’m coming,

For my head is bending low.

I hear the gentle voices calling “Old Black Joe.”

Red River Valley

From this valley they say you are leaving.

We will miss your bright eyes and sweet smile;

For you take with you all of the sunshine,

That has brightened our lives for a while.

Chorus:

Then come and sit by my side if you love me.

Do not hasten to bid me adieu.

But remember the Red River Valley

And the cowboy that loved you so true.

Home on the Range

Page 69: Songs Scouts Sing

Oh, give me a home where the buffalo roam,

Where the deer and the antelope play;

Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,

And the skies are not cloudy all day.

Chorus:

Home, home on the range,

Where the deer and antelope play;

Where seldom is heard a discouraging word,

And the skies are not cloudy all day.

How often at night when the heavens are bright,

With the light from the glittering stars,

Have I stood there amazed and asked as I gazed,

If their glory exceeds that of ours.

Sugar flows like candy;

Stretch a while and cool your manly chest.

While you watch them with your eyes.

Jump a while and shake a leg there, sir.

Now step forward, backward, as you were;

Reach your hands to someone near,

Shake his hand and smile.

Our honored guests are here,

Our honored guests are here,

Stand up now and take a bow,

And the way to be happy,

Is to make others happy,

And to build a little heaven down here.

And lifts the flowing bowl.

Hawaii sings “Aloha”

You’ll hear this cheery cry:

We say “Mabuhay!”

We say “Mabuhay!”

Under the blue skies

When our friends pass by.

Page 88: Songs Scouts Sing

A greeting, a farewell,

A toast that will wear well;

We raise our voice

And say “Mabuhay!”

Farewell Songs

Auld Lang Syne

Should old acquaintance be forgot,

And never brought to mind?

Should old acquaintance be forgot,

And days of Auld Lang Syne?

For Auld Lang Syne, my dear

For Auld Lang Syne;

We’ll take a cup of kindness yet

For Auld Lang Syne.

We tea ha’o ran about the braes

And pu’d the gowans fine,

We’re wander’d mony a weary foot

Sin Auld lang Syne.

Frae mornin’ sun till dine

But seas between us braid ha’e roared

Sin Auld Lang Syne.

And here’s hand my trusty friend

And gie’s hand o’ thine;

Page 89: Songs Scouts Sing

We’ll take a cup of kindness yet,

For Auld lang Syne.

Now the long long time of waiting is over,

With a pack on my back today;

And a great big smile knowing life’s worth while,

Just because I’m on my way.

Going home, going home,

To the place were I long to be.

Going home, going home,

To the one’s waiting patiently.

There’s a light that’s burning by the window,

And it’s shining just for me;

Going home, going home,

Safe and sound from the bounding sea.

Farewell

Fare thee well, luck be with you

When your far, remember us.

Aloha Oe

Proudly sweeps the rain-cloud o’er the cliff,

Borne swiftly by the western gale;

While the song of lover’s parting grief,

Sadly echoes amid the flowering vale.

Farewell to thee, farewell to thee,

The winds will carry back my sad refrain;

One fond embrace before we say goodbye,

Until we meet again.

Hanggang sa Muli (Aloha)

Sa inyo kami’y paalam na,

Hanggang sa muling pagkikita;

Ang ugali ninyong maganda

Ay taglay sa aming ala-ala.

Paalam na, o paalam,

Mga kamanlalaro’t kaibigan;

Kayo'y di naming malilimutan,

Magpakailan pa man.

Till we meet again.

Ngunit ang iyong akala, ay hindi tunay.

Hindi ka lilimutin, magpakilan pa man;

Habang ako ay narito, at may buhay.

Malasin mo’t nagtitiis ng kalungkutan,

Ang buhay kong unti-unti nang pumapanaw;

Wari ko ba sinta, ako’y mamamatay,

Kung di ikaw ang kapiling habang buhay.

Dungawin Mo Hirang

(1)

Irog ko’y pakinggan awit na mapanglaw,

Na nagbuhat sa isang pusong nagmamahal;

Huwag mong ipagkait, awa mo’y ilawit,

Sa abang puso kong naghihirap sa pag-ibig.

Page 99: Songs Scouts Sing

(2)

Dungawin mo hirang ang nananambitan,

Kahit sulyap mo man lamang iyong idampulay;

Dahil sa iyo, hangang mamatay;

Dapat mong tantuin, wala nang ibang giliw;

Puso ko’y tanungin, ikaw at ikaw rin.

Dahil sa iyo, ako’y lumigaya;

Pagmamahal ay alayan ka.

Kung tunay man ako ay alipinin mo,

Ang lahat ng ito'y, dahil sa iyo.

Dalagang Pilipina

Ang dalagang Pilipina,

Parang tala sa umaga.

Kung tanawin ay nakaliligaya;

May ningning na tangi’t dakilang ganda.

Maging sa ugali, maging sa kumilos;

Page 100: Songs Scouts Sing

Mayumi’t mahinhin lahat ang kanyang anyo.

Malinis ang puso maging sa pag-irog,

May ganda at tibay ng loob.

Bulaklak na tanging marilag

Ang bango ay humahalimuyak.

Sa mundo’y dakilang pang-hiyas,

Pang-aliw sa pusong may hirap.

Batis ng ligaya at galak,

Hantungan ng madlang pangarap,

Iyan ang dalagang Pilipina

Karapat-dapat sa isang tunay na pagsinta.

Katakataka

Katakatakang mahibang ang katulad ko saiyo,

Birubiro ang simula ang wakas pala ay ano;

Aayaw-ayaw pa ako ngunit yan ay hindi totoo,

Dahil sa iyo puso kong ito'y binihag mo.

Alaala ka maging gabit araw,

Alipinin mo’y walang kailangan;

Marinig ko lang sa labi mo hirang,

Na ako’y iibigin lagi habang buhay.

Sampaguita

Mabangong bulaklak ng lahi

Sampaguitang sakdal ng yumi

Kung ikaw ay kuwintas na yari

Nagniningning ka sa uri

Page 101: Songs Scouts Sing

Sa leeg ng isang dalaga

Hiyas kang sakdal pinipita

O sampaguita

Tanging bulaklak ng puso

Sama tayo hanggang langit.

Lulay

Anong laking hirap

Kung paka-iisipin

Ang gawang umibig

Sa babaing mahinhin.

Lumalakad ka na’y

Di ka pa man din pansin,

Sa hirap ika’y kanyang susubukin.

Koro:

Ligaya ng buhay

Babaing sakdal inam

Ang halaga niya’y

Di-matutumbasan

Kahinhinan niya’y tanging kayamanan.

Page 102: Songs Scouts Sing

Maalaala Mo Kaya

Maalaala m kaya

(1)

Sa bawat sandali, tayo ay magkapiling,

Ang bawat lunggati pakinggan ang hiling;

Ang puso ko’t budhi ay hindi sinungaling,

Sana ay ulinigin, damdamin ko giliw.

(2)

Asahan pangarap nitong buhay

Lahat ng araw kita’y mamahalin.

Sa labi ng imbing kamatayan

Itangi yaring pagmamahal.

Tulutang magtapat sa iyo hirang

Lahat ng araw kita’y mamahalin

Page 103: Songs Scouts Sing

(Repeat from 2)

Silayan

Silayan at bigyan ng pag asa,

Pagmamahal pusong nagdurusa;

Iwasan ang pag-aalinlangan,

Lahat ng araw kita’y mamahalin.

Sa labi ng imbing kamatayan,

Itangi yaring pagmamahal;

Tulutan magtapat sa iyo hirang,

Lahat ng araw kita’y mamahalin.

Lahat ng araw kita’y mamahalin.

Magtanim Ay Di Biro

Page 104: Songs Scouts Sing

Enga! Karabaw

Koro:

Enga! Karabaw-baw, Enga! Karabaw –baw

Enga! Karabaw-baw-baw-bi- baw. (repeat)

Diri sa amon barrio may isa ka karabaw

Gatubog sa turogban, ngalan nya’y si tiyo karabaw.

Wala gid siya gakadlaw, kag wala man gakusmud.

Kay man ini nga karabaw, wala onto sa ibabaw.

Ga obra siya sa aga, subong man sa kahaponan;

Kag kon siya na mag luya, aton siya nga i-hawon.

Sinisinta Kita

Kung ang sinta’y ulilahin

Sino pa kayang tatawagin?

Kung hindi si Neneng kong giliw;

Naku, kay layo sa piling.

Malayo man, malapit din,

Pilit ko ring mararating;

Huwag lamang masabi mong

Di kita ginigiliw.

Ginigiliw kitang tunay,

Alaala gabi’t araw;

At di na mapalagay,

Lagi kang hinihintay.

Sinisinta kita, di ka kumikibo,

Page 105: Songs Scouts Sing

Akala mo yata ako’y nagbibiro;

Saksi ko ang langit, sampu ng kanduro,

Kundi kita sinta, puputok ang puso.

Itik-Itik

Ang ibig ko sa bawa’t saglit,

Ay itik-itik ang marinig;

Kung ang sayaw mo’y minamasid,

Nagagalak ang aking dibdib.

At sa tugtog na walang patid,

Hindi na lamang nababatid;

Na sa iyo ay nananabik,

Ang aking pusong umiibig.

Katulad mo ay isang itik,

Sa akin ay liligid-ligid;

Kaya ako ay kahit maidlip,

Ngalan mo rin ang nasasambit.

Kung himig ang siyang mababanggit,

At sayaw na kaakit-akit;

Mayroong pa bang unang hihigit,

Sa itik-itik na kay rikit.

Tinikling

Tayo’y magsayaw irog ko ng Tinikling,

Tulad ng sayaw ng lolo’t lola natin;

Ang mga hakbang kung di pagbubutihin,

Dalawang kawayan tayo’y iipitin.

Page 106: Songs Scouts Sing

Kung nagsasayaw ka irog ng Tinikling,

Kumpas ng kawayan kahit mapatulin;

Ang mga binti mo’y kay hirap hulihin,

Sing ilap din ng puso mo sa paggiliw.

Koro:

At sa tinikling na tigib ng panganib,

Ang hindi maingat naiipit;

Pusong maharot ganyan din sa pagibig,

Ang nakakamit paghakbang ay ligalig.

Ang nagsasayaw ay napapahalakhak,

Kumpas ng kawayan kay ingay ng lagpak;

Habang nagsasayaw ang tunog ng palakpak,

Ang nanonood man ay napapaindak.

Rosing

Rosing nga gina handum ko

Nga sang gugma, ikaw Rosing ginhalaran.

Nga kasubo ining bu-ot ko,

Kon dili ta ikaw Rosing mankit-an.

Daw malumos sa sentimiento,

Ining pobre kag ka-ilo ko nga dughan;

Baslay ang katulad kag kahapdi

Ang gin bilin mo sa akon Rosing

Isang handumanan.

Koro:

Ay, Rosing nga nag sikway

Sining pobreng walay palad

Page 107: Songs Scouts Sing

Balikda man Rosing, balikda

Naga hulat sang pulong mo nga matam-is

Ang gin sa-ad mo sa akon Rosing

Isang hadumanan.

The creation of e-book editions of Scouting manuals and books is just one of the many initiatives of the

biggest youth organization in the Philippines to adapt to - and take advantage of - advancements in

technology to further its missions as well as to reach out to its increasingly tech-savvy constituents. It is

also aimed at making it easier for Scouts and Scout Leaders anywhere in the country and around the

successful conduct of Scouting programs and activities.

This e-book can be read using most of the popular e-reader apps on mobile devices like tablets (e.g.

Apple iPad, Android tablets) and smartphones (e.g. Apple iPhone, Android phones). It can also be read

from desktop and laptop computers using Adobe Digital Editions and several other EPUB-compatible

software applications.
