STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

My belief “Life is a continuous learning process, and the more youlearn, the less you know” may not be original, but gives my denitionto the purpose of living. The learning process begins right from birth

and continues till the eternal life. hat we learn we teach to the oneswho follow. ! know more than what my predecessors did and less thanwhat my future generation will. That"s the way our lives are molded.

Though my doting parents tell me that ! was a very early learner, myformal education began at the age of three years and that too #uitereluctantly. $ut, as the arms of education opened up to me, !welcomed them with both my heart and soul and after that, there wasno looking back. ! have always been front %line student& and a studentwith most #uestions .at the age of ten ! received my rst lecture oncomputers and that was the beginning of a long so'ourn into the

sub'ect.

My fascination with computers began from the school days when wewere rst introduced to computers. ! can remember the rstprogramming language taught to us( L)*). ! en'oyed making thatturtle run around the screen creating various shapes+ *radually wewere introduced to $-!, /0$-! and indows and my interest inomputers 'ust kept on growing. ! feel like ! have seen the computerevolve right before me. This interest motivated me to opt foromputer -cience speciali1ation in the 2igher -econdary -chool.There we learnt 2TML, algorithms, hardware, microprocessors, and

33.

hen ! sought entry to the $4 program, ! was thrilled to gainadmission to the omputer 4ngineering 5epartment of the6666666 ollege of 4ngineering. ! en'oyed studying topics suchas 75ata -tructures and 8rogramming Methodology", 78rogramminglanguages" and 75esign and nalysis of lgorithms". ! have a penchantfor programming and probably ! loved them since all these aresomehow related to programming and conceptuali1ation of variouspractical problem domains. ! always tried to solve mathematicalproblems with anyhow with some or the other language.

! have also absolutely loved 7omputer programming" right from the9nd year of the $4, when we were taught 8rogramming Languages and5ata -tructures and 8rogramming Methodology. ! started practicinglanguages like :ava, 33 and developed forte for these languages. llof these sub'ects re#uire application of logical skills to a great e;tentand hence they interest me because ! love problem solving. ! en'oyemploying my brain to think creatively. ! am not very conventional

<procedure oriented= and ! always like to hunt for alternative ways todo any task. ! like doing things in such a way that they cannot be abetter way. ! remember writing a function for my pro'ect > times tomake it perform better.

! have worked on :9-4 and :944 <:-8, -ervlets, 2ibernate, -truts=which gives me great e;posure in designing not only middle tier of applications but also front end. !n the 66 year, ! also worked on apro'ect named 7Translator", a pro'ect that provides innovative web0based software to help online retailers ma;imi1e their prots acrossmultiple channels such as e$ay, ma1on, ?ahoo -tore or other onlinemarkets. ! did more than >@A of the coding myself. ! spent manysleepless nights working hard for the pro'ect, but my predilection forcoding ensured that ! never felt fatigued. 4very piece of code, whichsuccessfully e;ecuted gave me so much satisfaction that it wouldevery time ll me with more vigor to carry on. 5uring this time, my

desire to become a programmer strengthened manifold.

Thrilled by the ama1ing opportunity to learn via the medium of practicals, ! was happy to work on 7Load Bunner" for Llyods $anking*roup for performance tuning of applications and worked for BedkiteCinancial markets for designing their front end. ! have en'oyed theseopportunities. 2owever, ! still feel that to become the best at what !am doing, ! need a formal education in omputer -cience. lgorithmsand applied logic are some areas that specically interest me and !would like to pursue these at my Masters.

hile in en'oyed the process of a great education in the classroom, !also en'oyed participating in a myriad range of co curricular and e;tracurricular activities. ! am a member of the ollege omputer lub. !was instrumental in helping form the ollege Linu; Dser *roup. ! ama volunteer for the Eational -ocial -ervice and have activelyparticipated in various Eational -ocial service camps. ! have apredilection for tness and thus, ! derived great 'oy in being a part of the ollege eightlifting Team since, ! not only go the opportunity toenhance my team working abilities, it also helped me remain tthrough the rigorous e;ercises that ! did. !t is activities such as thesehave have allowed me to state that ! am ready to face the rigors of an

M- from the 666666666 Dniversity.

n M.-. in omputer -cience would be the initial movement towardthis satisfying this desire. Cor this purpose an M.-. from a reputeduniversity like yours would stand me in good stead and would also beinstrumental in helping me achieve my long0term goals. 4#uippedwith an M.-., ! would be in a position from where ! can play ameaningful role in the global !T scenario. ! am applying to 666666

Dniversity because of its e;cellent research facilities and stronge;pertise in this eld. The department web site revealed a strongfaculty involved in the eld of omputer -cience. This hasstrengthened my resolve to study at 6666666

t a later stage ! would like to return to !ndia to fulll my dream of starting a computer0training institute. ! would denitely try to work towards developing a more dened curriculum and also try to modifythe method of teaching so a to make learning a more en'oyableprocess. ! think getting admitted in your esteemed university is therst step towards fullling my dreams and therefore ! hope to getadmitted in your university.
