SoundWaters programs are proven to have a powerful impact for all students:

Science. 96% of teachers reported that SoundWaters science sails provided essential STEM learning and amplified key topics taught in their classroom.

Stewardship. 87% of SoundWaters afterschool students understood that their daily actions impact the environment.

Literacy. Over 96% of pre-school students increased their science vocabulary through SoundWaters science enrichment.

Scholarship. 34% of partner schools received scholarship: we reach all children, regardless of need.

Long Island Sound is the learning laboratory where SoundWaters students explore, experiment and research as scientists.

Geographic Expansion.

SoundWaters keeps expanding to more communities. We reach towns from Greenwich to Greenport; in 2014 we will partner with 10 new schools.

Center Expansion.

Hurricane Sandy hit us hard. We’ve made repairs for greater resiliency and more is in the works: a new boathouse and dock for greater access for sampling and study of the Sound.

Technology Expansion.

SoundWaters integrates new technology into student learning. Aboard ship and at our Center, students use remote sensing, online tools, and sampling equipment to study water quality.
