"About Animal Testing : Humane Society International." RSS. Humane Society International. Web. 1 Mar. 2015. <http://www.hsi.org/campaigns/end_animal_testing/qa/about.html#continue>.

The Humane Society is an organization that advocates for animals. I will be using this source to back up my arguments on the alternatives and why animal testing is unreliable. This source contains a lot of evidence that will be useful for me to show examples. The purpose of it will be to supply background information. The source has numbers that will help me show evidence of my arguments. Although this source does not have a specific author I see that the publisher is the Humane Society. Their knowledge on this topic is very wide since they advocate for animals.

"Alternative Methods." Alternative Methods. Max Planck Institution for Biological Cybernetics. Web. 1 Mar. 2015. <http://hirnforschung.kyb.mpg.de/en/methods/alternative-methods.html>.

Max Plank Institution focuses on medical research. This source does not seem to have a specific author but the department of biology writes it. The way I plan to use this source is in my AP. I will use it as a background source and will get examples of what it addresses. The source talks about the alternative methods to animal testing. It includes some of the solutions I am advocating for so I find it will come in handy. They describe the alternatives and connect them to the role they take in cognitive brain research in animals and humans. There are some key concepts in this source that will help me back up my argument on the solution of the AP.

"Alternatives to Animal Testing." PETA. Web. 1 Mar. 2015. <http://www.peta.org/issues/animals-used-for-experimentation/alternatives-animal-testing/>.

Peta is an organization that as well at the Humane Society advocates for animals. Peta tends to give out a lot of topics on animal testing. This specific source I found will the use to place the foundation of my AP solutions. This source lists the 4 most common alternatives to animal testing. Although it does not have much information I will use it to guide me on what alternatives I want to expand on. With this source I can now research in depth the alternatives and possibly find scholarly sources to back up my information.

"Alternatives to Animal Tests : The Humane Society of the United States." RSS. The Humane Society of The United States. Web. 1 Mar. 2015. <http://www.humanesociety.org/issues/cosmetic_testing/facts/alternatives_animal_tests.html?credit=web_id127239936#Examples_of_Alternatives>.

Before introducing the solutions to animal testing I need to define a big term in alternatives to animal testing. That term consist of the 3 R’s. This source wont take much part of my AP for the reason that it just defines the 3 R’s. The reason I find it useful is because it shows the steps of how we can end animal testing. The source was published by The Human Society, there is no specific author.

"An Examination of Animal Experiments." PCRM.org. Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. Web. 1 Mar. 2015. <http://www.pcrm.org/research/healthcare-professionals/research-compendium/an-examination-of-animal-experiments#inaccurate>.

I have chosen this source to be one of my primary sources. I am thinking about using it in both my HCP and AP. I find the information on the page to be very useful. The source has no specific author but the physicians committee published it. I will analyze parts of the source in my essay that will help me explain why animal testing is wrong. The main keyword I found in this source is “inaccurate results”. That is one of the reasons why animal testing is wrong. This source cites different references. I feel that if there are references I can search more on the topic.

"Animals in Research and Testing | Animal Use in Research." Animals in Research and Testing | Animal Use in Research. Web. 12 Jan. 2015. <http://www.neavs.org/research>.

This source comes from neavs as well. This source will be used as just background. There is not much I can use but there is information on how animals are used in research and testing. I will use this in my HCP. Since I am talking about the UC System, I will use this source as reference to research done in institutions. The source also includes numbers that I can use as evidence to include some logos in the HCP. There are specific schools named in the paper. I find that, that will be helpful because I will not be talking in general, I will be talking about a specific school.

"Animal Rights Activists Protest Animal Testing in UC Laboratories |Dailycal.org." The Daily Californian. 27 Feb. 2014. Web. 16 Jan. 2015. <http://www.dailycal.org/2014/02/26/animal-rights-activists-protest-animal-testing-uc-laboratories/>.

This will be one of my primary sources for the HCP. The article is on UC laboratories and that is one thing I will focus on in my essay. The publisher is The Daily Californian. I will analyze the information on the article to construct my problem. Since I am in a UC I find this will connect well with my audience of students that attend UC’s.

"Animal Rights Extremists Target the University of California." AnimalRights Extremists Target the University of California. Web. 15 Jan. 2015. <http://archive.adl.org/nr/exeres/fe4f2992-54b2-4e4e-84c5-4c6a9596a7de,db7611a2-02cd-43af-8147-649e26813571,frameless.html>.

This article will be used as primary sources were I will analyze quotes from it. The publisher of the article is the Anti-Defamation League. The article talks about some of the consequences that have been occurring to researchers that are performing on animals. It also gives examples of all the campuses that carry animal testing. The cases that the article presents are very crucial. I tend to use the article in the first part of my HCP.

"Animal Testing - ProCon.org." ProConorg Headlines. ProCon. Web. 1 Mar. 2015. <http://animal-testing.procon.org>.

This source is one source that I know will be very useful throughout my whole research process. The publishers are a nonprofit website that presents research, studies, and pro and con statements. The website also had many numbers I will probably use in my essays as examples of the number of animals that are used in testing. One way this source will be useful to be will be by turning the pros into courter arguments. There is 14 pros that I can look into and find evidence on to why animal testing is still wrong.

Badyal, Dinesh K., and Chetna Desai. Animal Use in Pharmacology Education and Research: The Changing Scenario. Vol. 46. Indian Journal of Pharmacology, 2014. Print.

Scholarly Source. This journal was written by Dinesh K. Badyal and Chetna Desai. The source has many references. This makes the source very reliable. It was written and published in a book. The way I will use this source is as a primary source for my problem in the HCP. The article talks about how education and research come together to use animals. One thing I find very good about the source is that the keywords: alternatives, animal experiments, and regulations are on it. It gives a great definition on what animal experimentation is. There is a lot of logos found in the journal that I can analyze an incorporate in my argument.

Balcombe, Jonathan P. "The Use of Animals in Higher Education: Problems, Alternatives, and Recommendations." The Use of Animals in Higher Education: Problems, Alternatives, and Recommendations. Humane Society Press. Web. 1 Mar. 2015. <http://www.academia.edu/2918798/The_Use_of_Animals_in_Higher_Education_Problems_Alternatives_and_Recommendations>.

This article seems to be scholarly but its not. Although it does have great points on what my argument is. The source can be reliable because the author has a Ph. D. The publisher of the article is the Humane Society Press. This is a perfect source that can be used as primary for the reason that is addresses the problem, alternatives, and recommendations on animal testing in education.

Balls, Micheal. "Replacement of Animal Procedures: Alternatives in Research, Education and Testing." Laboratory Animals. Environment Institute, 1994. 193-211. Print.

I found this source though the UCI library. I will be using it in my AP because the article addresses the replacements that there are for animal procedures. At the end of the article there are many references I can go based of on to. The author is Michael Balls. There is not much information on the author. What I found in this article were keywords: animal procedures, in vitro tests, replacement alternatives, and validation.

Hajar, Rachel. "Animal Testing and Medicine." Heart Views : The OfficialJournal of the Gulf Heart Association. Medknow Publications Pvt Ltd. Web. 15 Jan. 2015. <http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3123518/>.

This is a scholarly article. The author is Rachel Hajar and she has a Medicine Degree. Authors like this can be very reliable with what they write because they have to have a lot of knowledge on a topic in order to get a degree in medicine. She addresses the 3 R’s in a more depth positions. I will use the source for my AP paper. It also has background information on when animal testing started.

"Harm and Suffering | Animal Use in Research." Harm and Suffering | Animal Use in Research. Neavs. Web. 1 Mar. 2015. <http://www.neavs.org/research/harm-suffering>.

This source comes from neavs. I will use the source as a base ground. The source talks about the harm and suffering the animals are put through when they go under experimentation. I will get the main points to make my argument and I will find other more reliable sources to backup the main topics of this source. Neavs has a lot of good information on the topic but is not that reliable as a source. None of the website pages have specific authors.

"Is Animal Research Necessary to Achieve Medical Progress?"Animal Rights Is theTreatment of Animals Improving? CQ Research, 2010. 23. Print.

This article was published by the CQ press. There is no specific author. The way I will incorporate this source in my essay will be by addressing the pages it has one anima testing. There are a lot of good graphs and pictures that show why animal testing is bad. I might even be able to use some of those pictures in my HCP.

Ormandy, Elisabeth H, and Catherine A Schuppli. "Public Attitudes toward Animal Research: A Review." Animals. MDPI, 2014. 391-408. Print

This is one of my most important sources that I will use in my AP. This source is a scholarly source written by Elisabeth Ormandy and Catherine Schuppli. The way this source will be used is by analyzing it for my counter arguments. Although I had the pros and cons website I wanted to find a reliable article. This will help me back up my findings in my arguments.

Publishers, River, and Niels Jernes. "Animals Models and In Vitro Alternatives: In Regenerative Medicine: Focus on Biomaterials Development." Innovative Strategies in Tissue Engineering. River, 2015. Print.

This is a scholarly source that comes from a book titled Innovative Strategies in Tissue Engineering. I will not sue the entire article because its to long. I will probably just use like 2 chapters. This source has specific authors for each chapter. There is references for each chapter just incase I want to look into other sources. I am thinking about using this source for both my HCP and AP.

Rudy, Kathy. "Introduction." Loving Animals: Toward a New Animal Advocacy.Minneapolis: U of Minnesota, 2011. 260. Print.

The base of our class theme was on this book. Loving Animals by Kathy Rudy. Although there is not much of animal testing in the book I plan on using one of her lines to tie my arguments together. She sues a lot of phatos in her writing and that can help me imply it in my HCP.

"ULAR Facility Access." ULAR Facility Access. Web. 13 Jan. 2015.<http://research.uci.edu/facilities-services/ular/ular-facility-access/index

I tried to include some type of source from my own school into my HP. As I was researching the UC system I taught of looking into UCI and seeing what I would find. I found the main website where they talk about the animal testing that is done here. I used some of the statements they state as evidence that animal testing shouldn’t be allowed. There was no specific author for the website.

Monamy, Vaughan. Animal Experimentation: A Guide to the Issues. 2nd ed. Cambridge, United Kingdom: Cambridge UP, 2000. 11. Print.

This book is the book I will use in my AP. Since we need a new book to include in out Advocacy Project I went to the library to look into what they had in animal testing. This book has much great evidence and scoop on the issues with animal testing. There is a chapter that talks about the alternatives and the 3 R’s.

Saraf, Shyam K, and Vinay Kumaraswamy. "Basic Research: Issues with Animal Experimentations." Indian Journal of Orthopedics. Vol. 47. 2013. 6-9. Print.

This article was written by Shyam Saraf and Vinay Kumaraswamy. This article is a scholarly article. The article focuses a lot on in vitro testing. I will use it as evidence to why in vitro testing is better and more effective. The article cites its self and has many references to look into. It talks about the ethical issue with animal testing.
