Pilanesberg National Park Among South Africa’s fascinating game reserves, Pilanesberg National Park is possibly the most accessible. Situated in the ecologically rich transition zone between the dryness of Kalahari and wet Lowveld vegetation, the Park attracts virtually all animal species native to southern Africa, including the Big 5 (lion, elephant, cape buffalo, black rhino, leopard) and more than 360 species of bird. The relatively small size of the park dramatically increases the chance of encountering the Big 5 in their natural environment. This destination provides morning and late afternoon private game drives for our group. In addition, concealed photographic hides within the Park at water holes provide a comfortable option off vehicle for capturing amazing images during the day. Each person or couple will lodge in a private room at Bakubung Lodge in Pilanesberg National Park.

Shambala Private Game Reserve Shambala, which means “Paradise on Earth”, is home to a rich diversity of magnificent wildlife, including the Big 5. The game roam free, from the thundering rhino to the proud lion, where the mighty elephant trumpets its power and the cry of the fish eagle brings Africa to life. Shambala is actively involved in wildlife conservation and a comprehensive anti-rhino poaching program. In addition to exclusive safari drives on the reserve, it is at Shambala where you will:

• Enjoy a sundowner cruise on the Douw Steyn Dam, the largest man-made dam in Southern Africa. The dam is home to herds of hippos, as well as crocodiles.

• Have the exclusive opportunity to photograph elephants from outside the vehicle on the ground, for those unique perspectives.

• Go on a spot-lit night game drive • Tour and enjoy a picnic at the Nelson Mandela Centre for Reconciliation. Inspired by his deep

friendship with the former President, Shambala’s owner Douw Steyn commissioned this home on the reserve. This special retreat gave Mr. Mandela the opportunity to work uninterrupted in peace and solitude, and provided him the space and tranquility to strengthen his considerable efforts towards global and local reconciliation.

Each person or couple will lodge in a private luxury chalet at Zulu Camp on the reserve.
