We are participating in the Woolworth’s Earn and Learn Program again this year. We have placed a box marked with our emblem outside Woolworths and another box at school. Every $10 spent at Woolworths you receive one sticker to be placed on a sticker sheet. When you have a completed sheet they can be placed in either box. We would appreciate your support. The more stickers we receive the more educational resources we will receive from Woolworths. Jump Rope for Heart is for both Primary and Infants students and sponsorship money should be returned to school by Wednesday 19th August. A Jump Off will happen on both campuses on Thursday 20th August. Only students who have completed fundraising will participate in the Jump Off.

Important reminder: Please note the information below with regard to explaining student absences. This is an edited version of the Department of Education’s information on explaining student absences. If you need further clarification or information please contact Mr Jones via the office. When children miss out on school they miss out on vital information, their learning routine is broken, they can lose confidence and they miss out on building up friendships. If your child has to be absent from school for any reason, including arriving late or leaving early, please either tell your child's teacher or the administrative assistant at the school, or explain the reason by phone, email or written note as soon as possible, definitely within seven days. Once children are enrolled parents are legally required to send them to school every day that the school is open for instruction or participation in school activities, such as sports days. A small number of absences may be justified if your child: has an unavoidable medical or dental appointment (preferably these should be made after school or during holidays) has to go to special religious ceremony is required to attend a serious and/or urgent family situation (e.g. a funeral) is too sick to go to school, or has an infectious illness. Failure to explain an absence within this time will be recorded as an unjustified absence on a student's record.

Parking: A reminder to all parents PLEASE do not park or pull up in BUS ZONES, and also please be respectful of our neighbours and DO NOT park over driveways in the mornings or afternoons. Recently I received a phone call from the ranger in regard to a complaint from a local resident. He is concerned cars are being parked too close to the corner in Muston Lane. Thank you for your co-operation and consideration in these matters. Market Day 27th August. Please mark this date on your calendar. Raffle tickets are going home today with this newsletter. Tickets are $1 each. Please return tickets, sold or unsold, by Wednesday 26th August. Look at these great prizes. 1st - Ipad Air Wi-Fi 16GB, 2nd - Repco 60cm 18 speed bike with helmet, 3rd - Razor Kick Scooter, 4th - Ipod shuffle, 5th - BCF $50 gift card, 6th - Bunnings $50 gift card

Donations can be left at the office of: second hand books and jars for tombola and/or items to put in the jars. Plants and fruit/produce can be brought in on the morning. We will also need volunteers to help with cooking for the Cake Stall. If you are able to help please contact Naomi on 0408 642 151 or email [email protected]. Trays for cooking can be collected from the canteens and need to be clearly marked with ingredients. We will need many helpers on the stalls eg. BBQ, drinks, canteen, craft and cake stalls. If you can help out on the day please contact Kelly Vickers on 0419 162 075.

The LIBRARY CAFE is up and running again. Everyone is welcome to visit the Library on Wednesdays from 3-4pm to use the computers, printer, photocopier and borrow & return books. We even have a selection of books in the Parents' Zone available for parents and carers to borrow, including parenting books and novels.
