Term 4 Week 6 Thursday 22nd November 2018

Principal’s Report Congratulations to all our wonderful PPP students and their families on the excellent Graduation Assembly held on Tuesday at our Infants campus. We had a fantastic attendance from our community and we all agreed on the excellent quality of the transition to kindergarten program we run at our school. Our PPP students all received a graduation certificate to celebrate their excellent efforts throughout this program.

Our Year 6 students had a wonderful excursion to Sydney last week. They participated in a number of exciting activities including the Sydney Harbour Bridge Walk, NSW Parliament House, Powerhouse Museum, the Sydney Aquarium, Taronga Zoo and Cockatoo Island. We followed the week on our Facebook page and our staff and students certainly looked like they were having a great time. A big thank you to Mr Zacek, Mrs McIntyre, Mr Newman, Mrs Pope and Mrs Warren for supervising this excursion. We would also like to thank Northland Buses for providing safe travel and an excellent itinerary for our school.

Reminder to all our Year 5 students who have nominated to become a prefect for next year that the official speeches are to be held tomorrow, Friday 23rd November in our Primary hall beginning at 11.40am. Parents are invited to attend. We value highly our student leadership program at our school and I would like to wish all our prospective prefects and captains all the very best with these speeches.

Our students in Year 3 and 4 who had nominated have enjoyed an excellent first week participating in the Intensive Swim Program held at the Grafton Pool. Mrs McGrath has mentioned how our students are trying their very best and displaying excellent behaviour while representing our school at this activity. The capacity of all students to swim to a competent level is very important living in Australia where so many of our leisure activities are held on the waterways. When this program is finished it is important that families involved do their very best to follow up these swimming lessons. We have just ordered additional new modern furniture for all our Stage 3 classes which will be available early next year. This will mean we only have our Stage 2 classes to upgrade across our school. This is an excellent achievement and allows are staff and students to use the very best available furniture in their classrooms. We are hoping to upgrade Stage 2 by the middle of next year.

We are holding our Annual ‘Carols on the Green’ on Wednesday 5th December on our Primary campus beginning at 6.00pm and concluding at 8.00pm. All students will have the opportunity to perform. This is a fantastic evening for our community and we are looking forward to another large attendance. Our P&C will be providing a BBQ, hot chips, drinks, ice cream and face painting. Children can sit with their families on a rug and everyone is encouraged to wear Christmas clothes. In Week 8 we will be holding two Silver Badge morning teas to celebrate our outstanding students who have reached this level. Primary will be held on Wednesday 5th December and Infants will be held on Thursday 6th December. Our Gold Badge morning teas will be Monday 10th December Infants and Tuesday 11th December Primary. Have a great week Mr Peter Hickey Principal

The P&C are holding a Christmas Hamper Raffle to be drawn at the Carols on the Green. Thank you to our families who have donated items, if anyone else would like to donate any Christmas themed non-perishable food items they can be left at either office. Thanks for your support. More information contact Kelly Vickers on 0419 162 075. Raffle tickets are going home today. Please return sold or unsold tickets to school by Wednesday 5th December as it is being drawn at the Carols on the Green.

As the year is quickly drawing to a close we have our end of year Library Stocktake almost upon us! To prepare for this we need to return all library books so that they can be scanned. Library borrowing has concluded and all students need to return their books by the end of this week, Friday 23rd November please. Stocktake will occur next week, so the library will be closed in this week, with the exception of students wishing to return books. Library will re-open in Week 8. Thank you, Mrs Heyman

The last day to order Rewards for student banking is next Tuesday 27th November and the last student banking day for this year is Tuesday 11th December.

Scholastic Bookclub Issue 8 will be sent home with students today. Orders (online only) will close at 3.00pm on Thursday 29th November. This will be the last Bookclub for the year.
