GIRLS’ HOOPS—LADY WARRIORS GET WINS OVER NORTH LAUREL AND CORBIN
The Southern Middle School Lady Warriors girls’ basket-
ball teams hosted two games this week, playing against
North Laurel on Tuesday and Corbin on Thursday.
On Tuesday evening, the 7th and 8th grade teams gar-
nered wins over the visiting North Laurel Lady Jaguars.
The 6th grade squad fell to North Laurel.
The Lady Warriors had similar results on Thursday night,
as the 7th and 8th grade teams had lopsided wins over
Corbin. The 6th grade team lost a tough one to the visit-
ing Lady Redhounds.
Southern will be busy next week, but their biggest game
of the week will be on Tuesday night, when they will wel-
come crosstown rival Northern to SMS. The first game of
the night is slated to get underway at 5:30 p.m.

FOOTBALL—WARRIORS DROP BACK-TO-BACK GAMES
After beginning the year with a 4-0 record, the Southern Middle School Warriors 6th grade
football team suffered back-to-back losses this week. On Saturday, the Warriors fell to
Northern. Southern had another loss on Tuesday night on the road at South Laurel.
The 7th and 8th grade teams will be in action on Saturday, traveling to Mount Vernon to
take on the Rockcastle County Rockets. Kickoff is set for 11 a.m.

SWIMMING—SOUTHWESTERN SWIM TEAM IS LOOKING FOR STUDENT-ATHLETES
If any 7th or 8th grader is interested in joining the Southwestern High School swim
team, now is your chance. Head coach Lauren VonLinger is looking for middle
school athletes to participate on the high school swim team. If you are interested in
swimming, please stop by the front office to pick up an information sheet. If you
have any questions, you can see Mr. Childers at SMS or contact Coach VonLinger at
