PREFACE

Demand for food is ever increasing due to population growth, making it absolutely necessary to increase the productivity of all the agricultural inputs. And to enhance the productivity, timely and precise field work is all important task to perform by suitable agricultural machinery. This Institute endeavors to contribute in this objective by both Training on the machinery and Testing of machinery. Now one more feather has been added in the form of Demonstration of the machinery. Testing wing has gone to test 13 numbers of machines, during this quarter, comprising of Power Tillers, Power Weeders, Self Propelled Platform for Tree Maintenance, Mobil Shredder and Roto- Puddler etc.. On the other hand, the Training wing has trained 389 trainees during this quarter, which includes 254 nos of Farmers and 102 nos of Women candidates. The trend shows that Farmers are more interested in NB- Series Programme, probably for the reason that they are tailored according to the requirement of them. The Demonstration of the Farm Machinery has proved to be the most important activity for popularization of machinery and subsequently their adoption by the Farmers. During this quarter 14 machines have been demonstrated in different localities witnessed by 160 famers. It is hoped that this issue will provide an interesting reading.

The Institute is equipped with a very wide range of different makes, models and types of Tractors, Land-Shaping-Equipments, Tillage-Equipments, Harvesting & Processing Equipments, Irrigation Pumps and various Irrigation Equipments and Plant Protection Equipments etc., used in mechanized farming. The Institute has also well equipped labs for imparting ‘on the job’ training on servicing, maintenance, overhauling and repair of tractors & Stationery Engines. Special Training Courses on Auto Electrical system and Hydraulic system of the Tractor are also provided.

Red gram seed variety LRG-41 sown in 4.24 hectare area by following 2 meter row

to row spacing.

Paddy sown in 0.3 hectares area by the direct paddy seeder i.e. fiber bodied 8 row

drum seeder.

Jowar seed variety Mahindra 343 sown in 6.0 hectare area by following 30 cm. row

to row spacing.

Applied 25 kg. Carbofuron granules mixed with adequate sand in jowar against to

shoot fly and stem borers.

Sprayed Nagata @2 ml/lit. in the mosambi against to leaf sucking pest i.e. mealy

bugs, aphids, hoppers etc.

Weeding and second split dose of Urea fertilizer has been applied in the Paddy.

Sprayed plant protection chemicals i.e. Carbendazim, Nagata against insect pest

attacks and fungal leaf sheath blight.

Day to day maintenance of horticultural crops, field crops, office garden and other

plantations, hedges etc.

Rain fall received during the second quarter = 75 mm.

3.Shri P.K.Verma, Senior Agricultural Engineer has been transferred to this Institute

from CFMT&TI, Budni. He assumed the charge on 08.09.14

ii. Promotions Smt.G.Arunakumari, Office Superintendent has been promoted to the post of

Administrative Officer w.e.f. 07.07.2014(A.N.)
