A PRAIA DO DIABO _the Devil’s beach Praia do Diabo (Devil´s beach), is situated
between Copacabana and Ipanema. Despite being very small it has it’s own coastline, it´s in front and wide open, to the sea. This particularity makes Devil´s beach (do Diabo beach), it’s very suitable for surfing. You enter in this beach through a small green park where you can enjoy a relaxing atmosphere and freezing cocounut water.
The Stone that invading the sea, separating has one of the most beautiful views of Rio de Janeiro. On one side, the beaches of Ipanema and Leblon with Dois Irmãos Hill in the background, on the another one, the Devil and Copacabana beaches. O Arpoador also offers fitness equipment, skate park and kiosk, plus the Garota de Ipanema’s parkwhere Brazilian and international artists make big concerts. This park is also a place of recreation, flat areas, and also a part with a small ecological reserve, where visitors can climb a hill. Another think to do at Arpoador is walk at the rocks. With some steep sections and rough, surrounded by sea, by itself, it’s a spectacle. In recent times, were added a few small roads cemented.
The Arpoador’s rock, is the name given to the stone that lies between the Copacabana’sFort and Ipanema’s beach, which ended up lending your name for the beach. With approximate 500 meters, is quite crowded with surfers because the rock creates stable left breakers up to 70-10 feet high (waveface measure, theBrazilians do). It’salso a great place to practice sports, with special lightingin night activities.

Ipanema is located in the south of the border of the city districts of Leblon, Lagoa and Copacabana. It’s a neighborhood place and sophisticated choice for many tourists prefer to stay in the region for security, proximity to the sea, intense night life and location. The main attraction of the neighborhood, the Ipanema beach, is one of the darlings of the upper middle class Rio. The post, considered the home of several tribes living in harmony: Tourist, surfer, rich, famous, hippies, athletes, gays and common local resident, is frequented by day and night people go to walk, play sports, talk and take coconut water kiosks ride by biking and, of course, enjoy the sensuality and beauty of who frequents the place.
Perhaps one of the reasons for the success of Ipanema is this heterogeneous environment and a prime example of this mixture is the famous Hippie Fair of Ipanema. The site runs every Sunday from 8:00 to 20:00 and is certainly the best place in Rio you find that souvenir of the city. The Post 9 is considered one of the best spots in Rio beach, is in front of Vinicius de Moraes Street. It was there that a girl from Ipanema was bathing, taking the poet and composer Vinicius de Moraes to write the famous song “Girl from Ipanema,” surprised to see it through. This place is frequented by celebrities and young people, but visitors from Ipanema beach should be careful when diving, because there are strong currents. Along the Avenida Vieira Souto, the most famous neighborhood, is Ipanema

nighT city BARS & NIGHTLIFE
No shortage of places to drink and ‘throw conversation away’ Cariocas say they love to ‘throw conversation away’ over a cold beer and, true to form, the city is filled with watering-holes and music bars at which to do so. Every bairro has its top Rio de Janeiro bars and pubs, but the highest concentration of night-spots can be found in the beach areas of Ipanema, Leblon and Copacabana and in Lapa, Rio’s samba heartland.
As night descends, it’s time to remember what you’re really here for: more drinking and partying! Take your pick of any bar or outdoor festival, all will be serving drinks and blasting music. If you are not satisfied with one party, turn around and walk for two minutes and there will be more festivities going on. And of course, if you want to relax, only the nicest beaches in the world are at your disposal...
After midnight, the night scene along the beach area heats up. If you visit during Rio’s famed Carnaval, it will be even busier. Hit a club and experience something a little different than the samba that surely has been blasting out of people’s radios on the beach.
Copacabana houses some of the nicest discos: recommended are Barman Club and BASE. You cannot miss either of them along the beach strip. Girls are notoriously extra-friendly, leaving you no choice but to hit the dance floor with them. Did I mention that Rio is great?
Seeing all these places in Rio de Janeiro, you will realize how utterly amazing the city really is. Although the partying will eventually get old, a short stay allows you to experience some of the most amazing festivities in the world.
Check on the next pages tips of some good bars and partys to go while you are in Rio de Janeiro.

LGBTEVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE RIO GAY SCENE
LGBT
37Rio de Janeiro is the main gay holiday destination for many South
American visitors. The Rio gay scene is ideally suited to those who enjoy partying the night away, the rhythm of a large city and the laid-back feeling of a beach resort all rolled into one.
Every year an ever increasing number of gay guys head down to Rio in search of an exciting and hot gay holiday destination. They’re coming down to the right place. In recent years Rio has become an excellent choice for the gay traveler. As the weather is hot all year round, the beaches are all loaded with eye candy all day long.
But Rio is more than just a beach resort; it’s a city of more than six million people. No matter what time of the year, there will always be lots to do. True, the peak season of the gay Rio vacation is New Year’s and Carnival but that’s not to say the rest of the year is dead. The Rio gay scene is centred in Ipanema, with its huge gay beach, trendy restaurants, and quite unique gay bars.
The streets Teixeira de Mello and Farme de Amoedo are jam-packed with gorgeous gay guys. It’s the favourite hang out for all fashion vic-tims, body-beautiful’s and barbies. Just at the end of Rua Farme de Amoedo is the gay section of Ipanema beach.

IPANEMA BEACHThe cruisiest bit is across Ave. Vieira Souto
at the end of Rua Farme de Amoedo. It’s also the most fashionable hangout in town.
There’s cruising all over the park through-out the day but night time is best. It’s a large park and the best hangout is between the Porcao restaurant and the pyramid-shaped
monument at the end of the park towards Botafogo. A lot of guys pretend they’re work-ing out on the parallel bars but they’re actu-ally on the prowl.
There are numerous other cruising grounds and cottages in Rio but they’re difficult to find them.

Rio de Janeiro’s LGBT Gay Pride Parade in Copacabana is one of the largest in the world, with an estimated 800 thou-sand people participating ev-ery year.
It is also the most scenic parade ever - it happens along the beach lane of Copacabana, Rio’s most eclectic neighborhood. Dates are not fixed, so you have to keep an eye on the calendar to make sure you do not miss it.
One of the fun things is to go float-hopping so that you can feel the atmosphere of each one. Or you could choose a fa-vorite spot and just watch the parade go by.
Some people dress up in cos-tumes, but most of then just comes in plain clothes with some rainbow details or something. And, as this is Rio, many come straight from the beach in trunks, bikinis and briefs.
