Entry Requirements The course is FREE and available to persons in receipt of Job Seekers Allowance between the ages of 18 to 35. There is no minimum educational entry requirement. Delivery Days and Times

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, 9.15am to 4.30pm, Friday 9.15am to 1.30pm

Payment:

Candidates should be in receipt of a Job Seekers Allowance and Job Seekers Benefit. Payments will transfer over to an ETB Training Allowance Course.

Attendance and Punctuality:

Full Attendance is required – any missed days or late attendance will be deducted from the weekly training allowance.

Who the programme is for:

Unemployed persons between the age of 18 – 35 years. There are places allocated to persons outside of this age category.

Candidates must:

Have a genuine and serious approach to learning and acquiring new qualifications Demonstrate motivation for a career in Horticulture. Prepare to apply themselves on the programme and commit to successfully completing

all modules. Be physical able. Engage in safe working practice with machinery and equipment at all times. Engaged at all times on the programme for practical skills and classroom based learning. Have an eagerness to learn, be self-motivated and willing to facilitate others in their

learning

Eligibility:

The course is for persons who ideally have not achieved a Leaving Certificate Qualification. Sufficient literacy levels are required for the completion of assignments and assessments. However, all applications will be assessed on merit.

NOTE: Participants must be able to attend and participate in the programme and have the concentration/stamina to be in a room with a group of 18 learners.

Course work:

There may be a requirement to complete assignments or tasks outside of the course hours. When on the course, participants will complete tasks and record them in a file or ‘portfolio’ on a computer. This will be assessed and scored by DDLETB and verified by FETAC. This is required for all modules.

The course will be supported and delivered by qualified Co-ordinator and Assistant Co-ordinator, managed by Southside Partnership Local Employment Service and overseen and financed through the Dublin and Dun Laoghaire Education Training Board [DDLETB]
