It is the Word of GOD that feeds the SPIRIT. If we feed our mind the Word of GOD, reading the Bible and listening to the Word of GOD being taught, we are .
As we feed our SPIRIT, we will reap of the SPIRIT. So, it is very important

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged __________, piercing even to the
division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

What does Galatians 6:8 Say? Lets read it together.
21Copyright a 2011 CalvaryCurriculum.com
Why does GOD want us to walk in the SPIRIT? Because He wants us to have eternity with Him in heaven. He wants us to have a right relationship with Him. He wants to have fellowship with us right now, before we go to heaven.
Romans 8:14-17 tells us GOD wants to have a relationship with us as our father. He adopts us and then wants us to call Him Abba, Father. The word Abba is the Hebrew word for Father. It was used as a term of endearment, rather like our word daddy.
Our heavenly father doesnt want a formal relationship with His kids. He wants them to feel close to Him and comfortable with Him. If we have given our lives to the Lord, GOD has adopted us as His children and we now are heirs of GOD! And He likes us to call Him daddy.
We are now His children and He wants a close relationship with us. That relationship is discovered on a SPIRITUAL level. His SPIRIT communes with our SPIRIT and lets us know that we are His. This is almost too wonderful to comprehend.

Some of you have already been adopted into GODs big family.

Now, lets consider the word CORRUPTION which is in our verse in this study. We read the flesh reaps CORRUPTION. What is CORRUPTION? We become a slave to what we sow.
While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of ______________; for by whom a person is overcome,
by him also he is brought into ______________.
Lets look at 2 Peter 2:19 together
Bondage is whatever it is that takescontrol over our lives. We are in bondage to it.
As Christians , we are slaves to Jesus Christ. Weve accepted Him as our Lord and Master. We have willingly submitted ourselves to Him. And weve discovered that to be a slave of Jesus Christ is much better than to be a slave of Satan or to be a slave to our own flesh.
In becoming a slave to Jesus, we are free. We have a glorious freedom in Jesus because we are no longer forced by our lusts to do those things that were destroying us!
Refer to page 25 formore information.
How Can I Become A Partof Gods Family?
This is probably a good time to ask this question:
-
23Copyright a 2011 CalvaryCurriculum.com
For those who live according to the _________ set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the __________. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God. But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the _________ will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in __________.
Lets read Romans 8:5-11 together
Now, its time to PRAY and RESPONDto GOD about what weve just read.

Now, Lets all l k up this Verse in our Bibles, Write it down, and then practice it together.
Walk here, refers to manner of life; the way someone lives. When we WALK IN THE
SPIRIT, we allow GOD to rule our minds and control our thoughts. We feed on SPIRITUAL food to keep the spiritual side of us strong.
If we program our minds with SPIRITUAL things, then the SPIRIT overflows from our lives. When we WALK IN THE SPIRIT we have fellowship with GOD. We experience GODs love and our life experiences His joy, peace, and patience. We have His strength and His power over the flesh.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also _________ in the Spirit.L K up, read, & fill in the blank of Galatians 5:25
CIRCLE the TWO things from this verse that we are to do in the SPIRIT.

What is the difference between practicing (living in) sin and those times when we do sin?
When we practice sin, we dont care what GOD thinks about what were doing.Whereas, when
we sin and realize it was wrong, we ask for GODs forgiveness and receive it. (1 John 1:9) We
dont want to keep sinning. We ask GOD for help.

In other words, HAVING FELLOWSHIP WITH THE LORD.So how do we do that?
So how DO we respond to what GOD says in His Word? Its like talking to a friend. They say something and then we say something back to them in response
to what they said. So, when we read the Bible, GOD is telling us something He wants us to know and we can respond back to Him in prayer.
In order for us to keep from living in sin, its important to bereading , listening & responding to Gods Word!
You might respond,Lord, help me to trust and depend on you moreand not to think I have all the answers. Help me to talk to you about everything in my life. Thank you that you will show me the right ways to go and the right things to do.
Trust in the LORD with all your ________, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall __________ your paths.
You can respond back to GOd in prayer every time you read the Bible. That way you and GOd are having a TWO-WAY conversation! Dont forget!
GOd WANTS to have fellowship with you!
God is faithful, by whom you were called intothe fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
1 Corinthians 1:9 says

This can mean we meditate on things no one can find fault in.
And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is _________.
What does 1 John 3:3 tell us about keeping our life pure?
What does in this hope mean?ANSWER: LOOKING FOR HIS RETURN.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________
And Yep, you guessed it... L k up this verse in your bibles and then write it down.
WALK IN THE SPIRITMan is a TRINITY made up of
BODY, MIND, and SPIRIT.Man is basically a SPIRIT,living in a body, possessinga consciousness or mind.
Now, our mind is either going to be controlled by FLESHLY desires, or it is going to be controlled by SPIRITUAL desires. If we are living after the FLESH, giving in to the passions and desires of our FLESH, then
the result will be that we will have a carnal mind.
...bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. The Apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 10:5 that we are to
When we find our minds
absorbed with the things of the
FLESH, its important to take
control and say, I dont want to
think on those things.
We have a choice to think about something else; to think on good things, things that are pleasing to the Lord. Lets turn our mind toward the Lord. Lets get into the Scriptures, the Bible. We want to live in the SPIRIT. We want to walk in the SPIRIT. If we do, we will not fulfill the lust of the FLESH.

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
Romans 8:14
What do these verses say about WALKING IN THE SPIRIT?
Romans 8:16
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit
Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Romans 8:26
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are
the called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:28
When we WALK IN THE SPIRIT and the SPIRIT leads us, we can
know we are sons of GOD.
It is so great to know that we arechildren of GOD by the SPIRIT of GOD!
How awesome! When we dont know how to pray about
something, the SPIRITknows and prays for us!
The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.
It is so important to WALK IN THE SPIRIT.Lets look at some verses that relate to this.
Look at this promise for those who love GOD:
This does not mean that all things will be good in our lives. Bad things can happen. But, what it does mean is that, when bad things happen, GOD will cause it to work
out for good for those who love GOD.40

Learning GODs word helps us WALK IN THE SPIRIT. It helps us to go GODs way instead of our own way. So, whats the key to
WALKING IN THE SPIRIT? And He said to them, Which of you shall have a friend, and go to him at midnight and say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves; for a friend of mine has come to me on his journey, and I have nothing to set before him; and he will answer from within and say, Do not trouble me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give to you? I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs. So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you...
Luke 11:5-13 says
...For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, (compared to God) know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!
Lets stop and consider somethingbefore we finish this Scripture.
We need to know that the words ASK, SEEK, & KNOCK in the ORIGINAL LANGUAGE are present tense words. What that means is: KEEP asking, KEEP seeking, KEEP knocking.
Now lets finish the rest of the Scripture.
The key to WALKING IN THE SPIRIT is to ask. To KEEP asking each day, throughout the day,to KEEP seeking, to KEEP knocking.
Our heavenly Father desires that we be filled with His SPIRIT.
Then we will be given GODs grace fordaily living, we will find His mercies newevery morning, and we will receiveGODs direction and strength to dowhat GOD wants us to do.

Practice Philippians 4:8 together!
Among the things we are to meditate on is whatever things that are
LOVELY .
LOVELY is a word that was more often used many years ago, so we dont really understand its full meaning. LOVELY can also be termed
very admirable or an inner beauty.
Now,lets talk about
LOVELY
There are people and there are things that may not be very beautiful to behold on the outside, but we admire them very much becauseof their inner beauty that they have.
God is very much concerned with inner loveliness. In fact, in 1 Samuel 16:7 He said,
But the LORD said to Samuel, Do not look at his appearance or at hisphysical stature, because I have
refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD
looks at the heart.
Truly, a lovely or admirable person is one that livestheir life in a way that is pleasing to GOD.
We admire these kinds of people for the good things that come out of their
lives as they ABIDE in the Lord.
Isnt that the way we want to live?42

As we have been practicing our memory verse (Philippians 4:8) this week, some of us have already memorized it. Thats GREAT!And this verse can really help us to sow good things in our lives and to be pleasing to the Lord.
In fact, we can use Philippians 4:8as a THOUGHT LIFE checklist.
Whatever we think aboutwe can ask ourselves: Is it TRUE ?
Is it HONEST ?Is it JUST (is it right before the Lord) ?Is it PURE (wholesome) ?Is it LOVELY (admirable) ?Does it have a GOOD REPORT(a good reputation. Does it build us up) ?
Is it VIRTUOUS (upright and righteous) ?Is it PRAISEWORTHY(is it worth sharing with others) ?
Think on these things.
When we think about good things, that are lovely and admirable, and refuse to think about bad things, then we keep on sowing good things in our lives! That is such an awesome thing!

And let us not grow _________ while doing good, for in due season we shall ________ if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do
good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.
L k up Galatians 6:9-10, fill in the Blanks and then Read it together
(Due season means: Gods timing)
What are the things that cause us to grow weary? Here are a few examples:
(1) The world does things one way and we get tired of doing it a different way.
If you have ever planted something in your back yard, its similar to what a farmer does.A farmer plants his crop and then has to wait for weeks, and sometimesmonths, waiting for the harvest, waiting for theplants to grow.
What if we got tired of waiting or the farmer got tired of waiting for the
harvest, and gave up on the field? He stopped watering, stopped fertilizing,
and stopped tending to the field.
What would happen? The plants would stop growing & eventually die.
Just as there is physical sowing and reaping (planting seeds and then eventually harvesting the crop) there is SPIRITUAL sowing and reaping.
(2) When people act like its not important to do good, we begin to think that maybe it really doesnt matter after all.
(3) When we make plans to do good things, but then people tell us we shouldnt do it or they make fun of us or discourage us from doing them.
-

sowing can take time. Sometimes we sow good things and the result happens right away.
What can we sow and see the result right away?
(1) Doing something kind for someone and they are thankful.CAN YOU THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE?
(2) ____________________________________________(3) ____________________________________________
Other times we sow and it takes a long time to see the harvest come up. What good things can we sow that might take a long time to harvest?
It is also possible to sow bad things. If a weed seed is planted, what will grow?
Bad things can be sown inour lives if we are not careful.
Bad FRIENDSBad MUSIC
Bad MOVIESBad THOUGHTS
Bad ACTIONS
Look at the following items & circle the correct answer.Good Seed or Bad SeedGood Seed or Bad Seed Good Seed or Bad Seed Good Seed or Bad Seed Good Seed or Bad Seed
Its pretty obvious, isnt it, what is aGOOD SEED and what is a BAD SEED?
Just like weed seeds produce (grow) weeds, the weeds drop their seeds in the ground and grow more weeds! So the more bad things that are sown in our lives, the more bad things will grow and be in our lives! We dont want that to happen!
By sowing bad things in our lives we start thinking bad and acting bad. But if we sow good things in our lives, good things that are pleasing to the Lord will grow in our lives.
What are some ways that we can sow good things in our lives?(1) _____________________________ (3) _____________________________(2) _____________________________ (4) _____________________________

L k up and talk about the following Verses
1 Corinthians 15:58
This is what the Lord wants from our lives.
What does STEADFAST mean?l Firm determinationl Steadyl Unchanging
l Firm in purposel Firmly establishedl Unwavering
What does IMMOVABLE mean?l Securly fixed in placel Unable to be movedl Standing stilll Stable
Waiting can be hard! Lets L K at what Isaiah has to say about those who are willing to wait.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the ___________ shall
________ their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
Isaiah 40:30-31
What is the promise for those who wait on the Lord?
GOD wants us to trust Him (Proverbs 3:5-6). As weWALK IN THE SPIRIT, we sometimes can become WEARY, but GOD doesnt want that to happen. He wants us to trust Him and depend on what His SPIRIT will do in our lives.
Have you ever felt WEARYabout doing good?
We can still continue well-doing in spite of weariness. How we feel can change and does change. What is
important is that we do not cease in doing well.
-
52Copyright a 2011 CalvaryCurriculum.com
One reason for being WEARY is that we have our eyes on our problems and not on the Lord. One of the answers to not becoming WEARY is to spend time with the Lord, to respond to what GOD says in His word.
Sometimes we forget about GOD and we need to get back in touch with Him.
L k up and Read Proverbs 3:5-6
We can become WEARY in strength because we
havent given our bodies nourishing food. We can
also become WEARY if we neglect feeding our SPIRIT by not meeting
with GOD through His Word.
What is the promise about not growing WEARY and
not losing heart?
Trust in the LORD with all your _________, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
The promise is in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Isnt that wonderful?
We need to understand that even though the harvest is delayed, it will surely be
reaped in due season.
