• Soybeans are the second largest crop in the U.S., behind corn.

• U.S. currently produces more than 15,000 varieties of soybeans

• Soybeans are the richest source of isoflavones. Isoflavones are a plant chemical that helps protect against heart disease and certain types of cancer.

• Soybeans are rich in protein. The beans provide all the essential amino acids the body needs.

• Soybean oil is an all vegetable oil that is cholesterol-free

• Soybeans are low in saturated fat and high in polyunsaturated fat.

• Soybean oil contains a blend of two types of fatty acids that are high in omega 3 and omega 6. These fatty acids have been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease.

• Soybean oil is light in flavor and has no odor.

• Soy oil has a high boiling point of 440 degrees, so it produces little smoke when cooking.

• Soy oil is very popular and readily available. Even HyVee doughnuts are fried in soybean oil.
