SPA TOURISM
One of the best features anyone can flaunt is the kind of healthy, glowing, blemish-free skin that can only be acquired from enough rest, adequate exercise, healthy eating and, most importantly, a well deserved facial treatment.
At the Kaya Spa, I have arranged my first-ever facial. I’m one of those peo-ple who keep trying the do-it-yourself option before finally admitting I need the professionals. After subjecting my face to the trauma of squeezed lemon and raw garlic toner, I tell Lucy, the beauty specialist, that my face needs help.
She explains that treating your skin to a regular facial will cleanse your face thoroughly and take away any toxins and dead skin cells.
As Lucy walks me to my treatment room, I know my journey to luxury has begun. First, she performs a
double cleansing. This is to strip my face of any make-up or moisturiser that may be hiding the real condition of my skin. She then uses a magni-fying lamp to carry out a ‘face map-ping’ to determine my basic skin type and condition, and recommends the anti-ageing facial.

RelaxingLucy uses a chemical exfoliation in-volving enzymes and acids to loosen the bond between skin cells.
Next, she directs a thin relaxing va-pour of warm steam to my face. This helps soften any blackheads and whiteheads to be extracted. She re-moves them and applies a toner to close the pores.
After the toning, she eases into the facial massage and works the vari-ous pressure points. This improves the blood circulation and results in a glowing and healthy-looking skin. Then a masque is applied for about 20 minutes.

Well being is more thanskin deep
As Lucy walks me to my treatment room, I know my journey to luxury has begun. First, she performs a double cleansing.
She re-
moves them and applies a toner to close the pores.
After the toning, she eases into the facial massage and works the vari-ous pressure points. This improves the blood circulation and results in a glowing and healthy-looking skin.
Then a masque is applied for about 20 minutes. This has a luxurious cooling effect, going deep into the skin to remove impurities. It also helps to close pores and make the skin firm. Lucy gives me a sooth-ing foot rub. She then splashes on a toner and applies a light moisturiser and sunscreen. I am revived and re-freshed and my skin feels absolutely wonderful.
