materials

• Paper Maché Box

• Wood Doll Pins

• Recollections® Value Pack Cardstock, 81/2" x 11" – Black & White

• Creatology™ Paint Pad

• Elmer’s® Glue Stick

• Crayola® Markers

• Sharpie® Marker – Black

• Crayola® Kids’ Pointed Scissors

• Pencil

instructions

step 1: Pierce a hole in the center of the lid of the paper maché box using the point of the scissors. Cut a small X.

step 2: Push the round end of the wood doll pin through and secure with tape.

step 3: Cut a white strip of paper approximately 11/2" times the circumference of the inside of the lid.

step 4: Draw your sequence on the strip of paper, as you would in a flip book. Our example uses a bouncing ball.

step 5: Cut a black strip of paper approximately 2" times the circumference of the inside of the lid. Line the drawing up next to the black strip of paper and make a mark for each slit that lines up with each drawing. Cut the slits into the black strip about halfway into it. Make sure the slits are about 1/16" to 1/8" wide.

step 6: Insert the black strip with slits into the lid of the box. Glue into place. Then insert the white strip inside with the pictures lining up in between the slits. Glue into place.

step 7: Spin the zoetrope in your hand and look through the slits to see your picture move.
