THE SCHOOL Learning Spanish is the division dedicated to the teaching of Spanish as a Foreign Language (SFL) at SET IDIOMAS. We offer Spanish courses in an atmosphere of continuous academic and methodological updating, in order to best respond to our students' communication needs. We began developing our SFL Programs in 2002. Today, we offer a wide array of options, ranging from intensive Spanish courses to professional development courses for teachers. We also offer special programs aimed at foreign universities, high schools and other special groups, which include language teaching, accommodation placement and leisure activities. More than 2,000 students of the most varied nationalities have studied with us and we´re proud to say that among our new students, 50% come to SET IDIOMAS following recommendations by others who chose us. SET IDIOMAS is a member of the SEA (Argentine Association of Language Centers) and has also been an Associate Center of the Instituto Cervantes since 2009. These accreditations certify administrative, academic, advertising and infrastructure standards and procedures. Moreover SET IDIOMAS has been the only Spanish school in Córdoba recommended by LONELY PLANET since 2010. Our school is located just 10 minutes on foot from Córdoba´s downtown area in a traditional, quiet and bohemian part of the city (Güemes neighborhood), which provides an ideal setting for relaxed classes. Our premises occupy a stately English-style house, with large and comfortable facilities: • a reception area, • the administration area, • eight classrooms, • a teachers’ room, • the coordination area, • a fully equipped kitchen for students and staff (with free coffee, tea and the local herbal

brew “mate”), • a students’ lounge with sofas, library and PC with free Internet access, • a wonderful terrace and a large “patio” or yard to enjoy class breaks and share quiet

moments together. We deeply care about our students´ academic success and it is a priority for us to offer them a supportive and cozy environment during their stay in town. That is why all of us (management, administrative and teaching staff) work closely together to ensure that our students feel at home and encouraged to learn and achieve their best.

OUR TEACHING STAFF We have a highly qualified teaching staff made up of an Academic Coordinator, specifically in charge of aiding and supervising the development of all the Spanish courses, and the actual teachers, all of them native-speaking professionals with university qualifications and many years of experience in teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language. As a part of the school’s philosophy, we promote their ongoing training and drive our daily efforts to build a working environment based on mutual respect, integrity and teamwork. OUR TEACHING METHODOLOGY Our teaching method is focused on communication and adopts a task-based approach. In other words, our classes are oriented towards developing and improving our students´ communication skills (speaking, writing, listening and reading) with regard to everyday situations, such as taking part in a formal or informal conversation, giving and explanation, telling a story or reading the newspaper. Although grammar rules and structure are an important part of our teaching method, we intend to reach them through inductive reasoning instead of presenting them as a standard to be reproduced by repetition and/or memorization. This enables our students to develop a "practical ability" (suited to a context and centered on the message). If the message is delivered and received effectively, then the objective of communication has been met. The next step is to improve how students deliver or receive the message. The communicative perspective demands highly interactive classes and emphasizes the spontaneous and creative use of the Spanish language. OUR COURSES Our courses are designed for students to progressively develop communication skills specific to the Spanish language and to the Hispanic and Latin American cultures. Once a course has been completed, our students are able to effectively deploy the Spanish language resources expected for a certain level of proficiency. Our Spanish courses are organized in 6 levels (and 12 sub-levels) of proficiency, based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), and we take no more than 6 students per group (except for special travel groups), which guarantees dynamic classwork and personalized teacher dedication. Students are assigned to a course according to a previous placement test, both written and oral, so they can get the most out of their learning experience. At the end of the course students receive a certificate issued by SET IDIOMAS as an Associate Center of Instituto Cervantes listing the number of class hours attended and the level achieved (based on the CEFR).

COURSES & PROGRAMS AVAILABLE

Regular Spanish courses Standard group course (20 hours/week): It offers the chance to learn Spanish in a group of 3 to 6 students. This is an ideal opportunity to learn cooperatively, exchanging and living intercultural experiences. The reduced number of students per group guarantees personalized attention. Group course for Brazilians (20 hours/week): Spanish and Portuguese have shared roots. That is why Portuguese-speaking students need to learn Spanish from the point of view of their similarities and differences. Phonetics, vocabulary, contrastive grammar and intercultural aspects are the keystones of this course, which has been designed to respond specifically to Brazilian students' needs. Standard one-on-one course (at least 4 hours/week or 10, 15, 20 hours/week): This course deals deeply with special contents and gives students the chance to practice the language intensively in class, gaining extra progress in their communication skills. One-on-one course for special purposes (at least 4 hours/week or 10, 15, 20 hours/week): This alternative gives students the opportunity to learn Spanish while focusing on special interest areas (such as Law, Business, Latin American Culture, Tourism, Medicine, etc.) and their specific terminology. Two-to-one course (at least 4 hours/week or 10, 15, 20 hours/week): Ideal for travel mates and couples looking for a course tailored to their particular time, needs and interests. The only requirement is that both students must have a similar level of Spanish. Combined course (20 hours of group classes + 5 hours one-on-one lessons/week): This course merges the benefits of group classes (4 hours/day) with those of one-on-one lessons (1 hour/day). It is ideal for those students wishing to learn more in a shorter time. International exam preparation course (group and one-on-one courses available): Specially designed for students interested in gaining an international certification of their Spanish proficiency. Contents that are specific to the desired level of Spanish are dealt with in terms of grammar, vocabulary and conversation strategy. This course also focuses on communication skills (speaking, reading, writing, and listening) and resources needed for the appropriate exam (DELE -A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2 levels- and CELU). Tailor-made courses & programs | Combined Destinations program Tailor-made courses allow students to choose special formats (such as Spanish home tutoring, Spanish classes for kids or outdoor Spanish lessons) and combine them with their favorite leisure activities (football, horse-riding, sailing, cooking lessons, etc.) or their preferred tourist destinations, among other options. It is also possible to travel and study at the same time, taking courses in Córdoba as well as in SET IDIOMAS partner schools in Argentina and neighboring countries (Combined Destinations program ). Tailor-made programs are also designed on demand and they are specifically aimed at foreign universities (faculty-led programs) and special groups (high school students, students from other Spanish schools, adults, etc.). They combine Spanish classes, accommodation and extracurricular activities suited to their needs and interests. SET IDIOMAS has special agreements with reputable higher education institutions, facilitating undergraduate transferable credit for beginner to advanced courses.

CÓRDOBA CITY AND ITS SURROUNDINGS Founded in 1573, Córdoba is the second largest city in Argentina and one of the oldest in South America. It also goes by the name of “La Docta” (an expression meaning “The Scholarly”), since it has the first university in the country. Due to its central location within the national territory, Córdoba affords easy access to Argentina’s main tourist attractions: the Iguazú Falls, the Patagonia region and the glaciers, the Northern region, and the cities of Buenos Aires and Mendoza, among others. Moreover, this central location has international significance: Córdoba offers direct flight services to cities in South America, Central America, North America and Europe. Our city is a major destination for those wishing to learn Spanish while travelling around. Students choosing Córdoba to learn the Castilian variety of Spanish have the opportunity to combine their language lessons with numerous tours, making for an overall experience that enhances their stay. Córdoba is a perfect mix of the historic and the modern, and famous for its friendliness and the sense of humor of its inhabitants, that make for better cultural interrelationships and language learning. Some 100,000 university students live here, and we´re known countrywide for the academic quality of our educational services. Circuits in the city include the pedestrian promenades joining the San Martín Square with the ancient Cathedral, the historical Cabildo (town council), the university and several museums, to name a few. When the sun sets, the city presents a lively atmosphere, manifested in theater performances, cultural events, peñas (folk shows), pubs and discos. Just a short way from Córdoba, there´s a territory displaying a variety of landscapes and natural resources, and where history and culture are expressed in a unique combination. The sierras rivers with their sandy beaches, together with major artificial lakes, are our province’s main natural attractions. There are several alternatives to enjoy these magnificent settings. Visitors may choose activities such as trekking, scuba diving, horse-trekking, spelunking, mountain biking, 4WD off-roading, free paragliding, water sports, and so on. Other option is to visit the province´s protected areas, which comprise the Quebrada del Condorito National Park, the Mar Chiquita Lake, the Cerro Colorado (Red Mountain) Natural Reserve and the Salinas Grandes (Great Salt Flats). These are perfect places to enjoy a close contact with nature while following the principles that allow their preservation.

Regarding historical sites, the Jesuit circuit, which is on the UNESCO World´s Heritage list, consists of five estancias (agricultural and livestock production establishments) located in our province´s territory: Caroya (1616), Jesús María (1618), Santa Catalina (1622), Alta Gracia (1643) and La Candelaria (1683). The Jesuit legacy is also present in our city. The Manzana Jesuítica (Jesuit Block) in the downtown area is a monumental group comprising the Company of Jesus´ Church, the Domestic Chapel, the historical building of the University and the Colegio de Monserrat. Located in different rural and urban settings, the Jesuit architectural complexes are a good pretext for taking a trip through our history and culture.
