These types of homes are found all over Spanish Speaking countries. This style allows for more families to live in a smaller area. As the building rise in size, they do not have to

spread out as much, which means more living quarters in an environmentally small place.

In warm countries, such as Mexico, Honduras, or any country near the equator,

many houses are built with an open central area. This area

allows for wind to flow throughout the house, and

helps to cool the inside temperature down.

Homes in Central America are often configured in this fashion. The shrubbery

around the exterior helps to shade the folks during the

warm summer months, but also helps to provide a

beautiful landscape during all times of year. There is often a

large open outdoor area to help circulate air around the

house.

La Casa Numero Cuatro

✤ Homes throughout Spanish speaking countries are often made of plaster, because it is cheaper and wears better with all of the extreme temperature changes.

Arches are a major piece of Spanish design, no

matter what country. The green plants and open

second story imply that this home is in a warm

country, probably near the equator, where the

weather is good for the plants yet can be warm beyond comfortable for

humans. The wind is able to circulate as well as the

open room is well shaded.Tuesday, March 29, 2011
