Spark Capital advises Ramesh Hospitals on its strategic partnership with Aster DM Healthcare

Spark Capital is pleased to announce that it has assisted in the strategic transaction between Dr. Ramesh Cardiac and Multispecialty Hospitals Pvt. Ltd. (“Ramesh Hospitals” or the “Company”) and Aster DM Healthcare Ltd. (“Aster DM”). Spark Capital acted as exclusive financial advisor to the transaction and has reinforced its position as a leader in syndicating equity for mid-market companies in the healthcare space. With the completion of this transaction, Spark has advised on 17 transactions aggregating USD 360 Mn value across various sub-segments of the healthcare space.

About Ramesh Hospitals:

Ramesh Hospitals, started in 1988 by Dr. Ramesh Babu, is a leading 560 bed multispecialty tertiary care chain in Coastal AP which pioneered cardiac care in Vijayawada. The hospital has evolved into a multi-super speciality hospital by expanding its scope of services and currently operates 2 NABH accredited hospitals in Vijayawada and a 350-bed multi-speciality hospital in Guntur, which have connectivity to 11 Tele Medicine centres in AP.

About Aster DM:

Aster DM Healthcare, which was founded by Dr. Azad Moopen in 1987, is one of the largest private healthcare service providers in the GCC states with over 3,000 beds across hospitals in the UAE, India, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan. Aster DM has a diversified portfolio of healthcare facilities, consisting of 6 hospitals, 84 clinics and 180 retail pharmacies in the GCC states and 11 multi-specialty hospitals in India.

About the Transaction:

Aster DM has entered into a strategic partnership with Ramesh Hospitals through a combination of primary infusion and purchase of stake from existing shareholders. Through this transaction, IndiaVenture Advisors completes the exit of its investment in Ramesh Hospitals made in April 2013.

Aster DM expands its presence to the state of AP taking its network to ~2,500 tertiary care beds in India. Ramesh Hospitals, in partnership with Aster DM, plans to deepen its presence in the region of AP and triple its bed capacity to 1,500 beds within the next 3 – 5 years.
