This is the safest, simplest, most financially viableand most effective way to operate an ATM, wherethe merchant uses their own cash to fill the machine.They only need to put in as much cash as is neededfor a single day's transactions, therefore the amountof cash inside their ATM is generally quite low. Theamount withdrawn by customers is transferreddirectly into a nominated bank account the followingbusiness day, saving trips to the bank and expensivecash deposit fees.

In this manner, merchants are able to effectivelyrecycle cash through their ATM as up to 50% ofwithdrawn cash will be spent on their premises.

Furthermore, these ATMs are all located in-store, ina safe, well-lit location, making them attractive tosecurity-conscious customers.

In-store ATMs are revenue generators for merchantsas they earn a rebate per transaction with additionalbenefits being: increased foot traffic, increased sales,customer loyalty, cash deposit fee and credit cardterminal savings.In excess of 20% of withdrawncash is spent on site, meaning that retailers benefitfrom increased spend by hosting a Spark ATM.

In addition, the ATM’s high definition crisp full-colour screen is used to advertise FMCG and otherindustry offerings, and with the highest recall ratesin the advertising industry this medium drives brand-loyalty and additional spend.

Our customer care agents monitor our network of ATMs24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They keep an eye on cashlevels in our ATM’s and all other critical health signsensuring that all ATMs are operating as intended. Weunderstand that our ATM is a critical component of ourcustomer’s business and that they benefit only when theATM is operating as intended. We therefore ensure thatthere is always someone available to provide technicaland administrative support to our clients whenever theymay need it.

We manage our own transactional switch and networkof skilled technicians and support personnel around thecountry thus enabling us to manage and control ourturn-around times very closely to ensure we consistentlymeet and exceed our customer’s high expectations.

Spark ATM Systems has successfully expanded into Africathrough the establishment of Spark ATM Systems(Zimbabwe) (Pvt) Ltd, in partnership with CBZ BankLimited, Zimbabwe’s largest retail bank.

CBZ provides the financial infrastructure and the gatewayinto Zimbabwe, while Spark ATM Systems Zimbabwesupplies and installs the ATMs and signage while alsomanaging all communications, maintenance, training,spares, sales, technical support, reporting and access tothe 24 hour contact centre for any enquiries.

This move has been significant as it has introduced thefirst in-store ATMs in Zimbabwe.

Spark ATM Systems Zimbabwe has a presence in all themajor industries, including the petroleum, retail andhospitality locations and ATMs can be found atestablishments such as Fruit & Veg City, Spar, Total, Engenand many more.

Spark ATM Systems Zimbabwe aims to significantlyincrease the number of ATMs in the country by installing500 ATMs in the next 24 months.

Caren completed her Bachelor of Accounting degreeat the University of Stellenbosch and went on toattain a Honours Bachelor of Accounting Sciencedegree through the University of South Africa. Shepassed the Board Exams and qualified as a CA (SA)in 2005. After qualifying Caren gained valuableexperience in financial management in variousindustries including manufacturing and retail. In2008 she joined a Nashua franchise as GeneralManager Finance. In 2013 Caren joined Spark ATMas Finance Executive.

Marc is a qualified Chartered Accountant (SA) andwas previously employed in a number of seniormanagement roles at organisations in South Africaand abroad. Founding Spark ATM Systems afterextensive local and international research, hecontinues to passionately motivate the companytowards achieving its goals while ensuring thatmeticulous attention to detail and professionalismare adhered to by the company’s ever-growing team.

RUSSEL BERMAN – SALES DIRECTOR

Russel was formerly employed by Investec PrivateBank after occupying various managerial rolesoverseas. He commits his endless drive and energytowards growing Spark ATM Systems’ network ofATMs and ensures that each customer receives thedesired high levels of customer service. He managesa team of national Sales Executives, AccountManagers and Business Developers who areresponsible for developing customer relationshipsin their particular region.

BUKS HANEKOM - TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

Buks has been at the forefront of transactionalIT development for businesses for over 20 yearsspecialising in varied fields, from prepaid airtimevending to cellular communication systems andfinancial transaction switching. Today he heads upSpark’s technical team of software engineers andtechnology administrators who are responsible fordeveloping and managing the technology systemsthat make it possible for Spark ATM Systems to bethe premier South African ATM deployer.

RYAN TZAMTZIS - OPERATIONS EXECUTIVE

Ryan joined Spark in March 2011 to run the HumanResources function. He has a post graduate degreein Human Resources Management and a Bachelor’sdegree in Counseling. Ryan has over 10 years ofHuman Resources Management experience and alsohas experience in HR software design anddevelopment. Ryan is also responsible for theOperations at Spark ATM, overseeing the company’snational network of ATM operations, including

In order to accommodate significant business growth,Spark ATM Systems relocated its headquarters to a2 400m2 building in Paarden Eiland.

The modern new office – inspired by Google’sheadquarters in California is significantly gearedtowards employee wellness and offers staff facilitiessuch as a fully-equipped gym, a canteen, acomprehensive library and dedicated reading area,as well as a modern entertainment area promotingteam engagement.

The move was in line with our broader strategic businessgrowth plan of the company and will enable us to enhanceoperational efficiencies while also attracting and retainingvaluable employees in order to meet the needs of ourgrowing market. Keeping to our goal of expansion, thenew office allows us to accommodate future growth andfurther cement our position as the leading independentATM deployer in South Africa.

The latest technology is incorporated throughout thebuilding which has a state of the art IT lab housing all ofthe company’s internal software development capabilities,as well as a modern contact centre with monitoringdashboards that update in real-time. In addition to thisis a world-class repair centre forming part of one of thedemarcated technical areas. Giving back to the various communities in which weoperate is very important to Spark ATM Systems. Wesupport Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment asa necessary social goal, and are actively involved withthree programmes aimed at social upliftment:

1. Ikamva LabantuThis non-profit, non-governmental Trust touches the livesof more than 25,000 people every day. This includes over1,000 children in 300 foster care homes; more than 12,000pre-school children in 200 under-developed daycarecenters; and about 540 senior citizens in 17 seniors clubs.

Spark ATM is involved in various projects with IkamvaLabantu including:

Pre-School Building Project

Through Ikamva Labantu’s early childhood development(ECD) services and programmes Spark ATM Systems hasdonated funds to enhance the existing infrastructure ofpre-schools. The staff at Spark have also gotten involvedby taking part in these building projects.

Community Health Project

Ikamva Labantu encourages communities in preventativehealth, focusing on health-conscious behaviour, diseaseprevention, physical well-being, nutritional and mentalhealth as well as the management of HIV and AIDS.

Senior Citizens Project

Ikamva Labantu assits over 540 vulnerable elderly throughtheir 17 seniors clubs where daily programmes includesocial activities, health monitoring, balanced daily mealsand income generating projects. Staff at Spark havededicated themselves to refurbishing the clubs, spendingtime with the senior citizens making them feel loved andcared for.

CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

2. Donations from ATM transactionsIn Spark ATMs continued spirit of making a difference tothe community, we have committed to donating a portionof funds to various charities from every transaction thatis completed on our ATMs. In this manner, our donationsgrow as our business does.

3. BursariesWe make bursary sponsorships to students to studentsto study a technical diploma through Boston City Campus.Following their graduation they will become employeesat Spark ATM as technicians.
