LETTER FROM DR. GRUNTMAN Hello SPE Families!

WHOO HOO! Our Walk A Thon was amazing! It was great seeing students walking and running for an entire 20 minutes to support our school and their health! It never ceases to amaze me how wonderful our students, staff, and families are at SPE! Thank you for all of your hard work in collecting donations to help support our school! We raised over $6000!!! WAY TO GO SPE!

Progress reports have been sent home. For Kindergarten, we are piloting Standards Based Grading. When you view your child's progress report, it is on a 4 point scale system. This 4 point system was emailed out last evening. Please make sure to disregard any letter grades and percentages present when you view the progress report. The only numbers that matter are the 1,2,3,4. Also, you may see that your child has a lot of 1s or 2s. Due to your child just beginning the school year, they have not mastered the content or objectives just yet. You will see a progression as the year moves forward. Finally, if an objective is left blank, that particular concept is not assessed at this time.

For grades 1 and 2, anything left blank on the progress report means that there is no concern, a "G" means that concept is not assessed yet, and an "X" means there is concern with that objective. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or your teacher.

Have a GREAT weekend! Dr. Erin Gruntman Principal
