Contents ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Why I SpeakLife!
I am a creation first of my Divine Creator and then one of my environment!
God’s gracious gift of life and love was infused into my diverse background. I
first learned of love from my Mother’s warm caress, her soothing words and then
her firm Baptist upbringing. My home was filled with its own chaotic yet
charming squabble of sibling rivalry, although they were much older than me;
two brothers and one sister. I was even blessed to have a second household
after my father remarried which produced a younger half-sister with the
inclusion of two older step brothers. These homes bore their own unique brands
of loving, living and learning, and I, without asking to, became the intermediary
or conjoining force between the two. As children, this role was unknown to me
for I was simply being who I was taught and shown to be: a bearer of love and
laughter! I enjoyed the role and it became the fabric of my life. I had a lot of
people to talk to who loved me and whom I loved.
My intimacy with Christ increased through singing His praises, teaching His word
and worship. The message of His love and the promise of His Kingdom were
beautiful to me. I was ordained as a Deaconess in 2008 and continue to study
His word. I truly believe being in a relationship with Him is a blessing of grace,
lessons for loving and a gauge for positive, healthy and exciting relationships!
Scripture (Luke 6:45) tells us, “Out of the abundance of the Heart, the Mouth
Speaks…I choose to SpeakLife.

Chapter 1: Rhema Rhymes – When Falling Hopelessly in Love
These poems were created to remind us how beautiful
love is. Designed for the purpose of sharing God’s gift to
man.
The Greek translation of (word) is “Rhema”, which refers to the
spoken word. Rhema literally means an utterance (individually,
collectively or specifically)
When Falling Hopelessly in Love
Why it is so necessary for believers to wait for whom God has
prepared for us? If a man or woman demonstrates God's love
through word and lifestyle you know that at least he or she has the
capacity to love you the way God intended. And His intent for man
and woman is Agape love coupled with Storge (stor-jay). Agape
love is selfless, unconditional and requires sacrifice. Storge is the
natural love and affection of a parent for their child or sister for
brother, husband for wife. The Greek word Eros is the physical love
that we tend to base our relationships on, thus dooming it to failure.

Symphoneo
Symphoneo (Gr) to agree or be in harmony with; in a transferred sense harmony
of thought and life and of beautiful soul and body – Symphonia /harmony of
sounds
~Fueled by my love for music, ignited by the passion I have for you and
tempered by faith…these are the words that I write~
Music is a stairway to my soul that opens the door for the Spirit of God to live
freely and fully within me. How could I begin to write a love song without
acknowledging you Lord? Your grace surrounds and invites my senses to be
filled as we harmoniously flow to the beat of our own drum – an intimate
symphony that perpetuates eternal love. And when the heart reaches, yearns
and sweetly finds the god kind here, in the earth, the melody of love finds a new
course, a river of joy that is complete only when the two become one. Then love
sings!
I’m riding unexpected waves of pure joy, gently sliding into pools of honey dew
and sweet things that stroke the soul and deliver exquisite contentment–where
words speak through the Spirit and is heard deep in the beat of your heart. I
need you!
Come with me in a courtship of intimate bliss where we know God has led us,
prepared for us. Lead me and I will follow, sing to me and I will hear your call,
protect me and I will forever be your champion. Love me and I will give you my
life. I thank God for you!

If only you could see me as God sees me; your gift, your helpmate! I was
created to love and to be loved! My heart speaks the language of love through
the poetic verse,
My soul sees a unique and wonderful creation in you. I marvel at how sweetly
my Spirit seeks to connect with yours...it is truly amazing.
As this beautiful melody is played out, I breathlessly wait to hear you say...
As the harmony of life weaves a love song, I will dance.
My prayer is that you will dance beside me.
I will write this love song, this love prayer, until you hold me.
I am a precious jewel, exquisitely made, worth waiting for.
Stay open to the Spirt of God…Hear His voice and find me.

The Thought of You
Thinking of you makes me smile
For I see God’s handiwork all over you
When you speak I hear bells &
Your laughter is like a symphony
And when we touch, I blush
Because I know God gave you to me
Thinking of you makes me smile
We’re blessed!
Like trees planted by rivers if living water
Our love shall not be moved

This Love
I like holding your hand
It connects me to your soul
It reminds me we share a special bond
An unspoken truth
An answered prayer
It is love, un-rehearsed
Raw
Warm
Gentle
Eternal

Head Over Heels
I am hopelessly, deliriously and joyously in love with you
And I pledge to share my life, my heart and even my dreams with you
For how could I resist your smile and the goodness that flows through you?
I Love it when you speak, when you walk, when you laugh and baby, when you
cry
I marvel at your beauty and your grace.
Together we move as one, transcending the laws of gravity and force.
You are my “Boo” and I am hopelessly, deliriously and joyously in love with you.

Betrothal
From the deepest, sweetest most sacred places in my soul
There lies an anchor of life for you
It is kissed with love
Fiercely protected by grace
And is yours if you’ll have me
I believe in God and His word
And I want to share my life with you
Will…You…Marry...Me?

I Think I Love You
Here’s why!
When I’m with you I feel blessed
Blessed to be alive, to stand by your side
When I’m with you there’s an inner peace that transforms my day
There’s a strength that gives me complete confidence
There’s a song that rings in my Spirit
Wow, it’s indescribable, unscripted-
And it is uniquely born from you
I think I’m falling in love with you
I pray one day you’ll love me too
But for today…I’m just gonna say I like being with you…you bring out the best in
me
Yeah, I know its cliché, everyone says it
But I know it as truth
I like, no I love being with you!

This next poem is taken from my wedding collection of poems created through
conversations and the sharing of stories. This particular piece was created to
celebrate the marriage of two free spirits whose courtship was sealed on Skype.
Langston & Shanika
What God has joined together
Let no man put asunder
This art of love when two becomes one
Creates a masterpiece, the perfect gift from the Son
(Love, sweet, love that lives, moves & breathes.)
For Langston & Shainika this path was foretold
Their courtship a journey, a dance into a beautiful duet that mirrors creation
As two become one a glorious celebration
Their meeting was not by chance you see
Felicia thought perhaps it could be
If they were connected by her suggestion
Love would weave its powerful mystery

And join the two together across 1000’s of miles
Turning hours of conversation into
Sweet contemplation and secret smiles
And who would have thought that Skype would be the key
To bring the two of them together for a chance to see
The voice on the other end of the line,
& the smile behind each emoticon
How pleased they were to finally see
Just how blessed they could possibly be
He drowned in her beautiful brown eyes – looking ever so sweet
That he was compelled to come a Mile High
To make his perfect dream complete
Full of confidence and bold as the man of God should be
Six months later Langston took Shainika’s hand and said
“Baby, Gift from God, my search is over –
Will you marry me?”
And here we stand as a witness to love

A beautiful new sunrise full of promise and grace
This was God-breathed & ordained
There’s a halo of love & peace that illuminates their face
He stands straight & strong, she demurely graces his side
Langston is a man who seeks God’s favor
By honoring Shainika, as his beautiful, blushing, bride
What God has joined together
Let no man put asunder
This art of love when two becomes one
Creates His masterpiece, the perfect gift from the Son

Chapter 2: Rhema Rhymes: Seasoned Love/The Spice of Life
The marriage vow and the bond that develops is celebrated in
these poems.
This first poem, Touch and Agree was written to celebrate the marriage of
Marilyn and Dwayne. I have had the privilege to individualize and share this
poem at other weddings and performances.
The last poem, Beautiful - 20 Years Later, celebrates the longevity, vitality and
the resplendent love that comes when you stay together.
The biggest coward of a man is to awaken the love of a woman without the intention of loving
her” ~Bob Marley
Touch and Agree
And for this reason, shall a son leave his mother,
And a father, a daughter leaves alone
So that they may touch and agree
So that my will is made known
Tonight, as you whisper sweet nothings in her ear
Know my will, share my love, and hold her near
Inhale the aroma of her beauty
Cherish the moments embrace

Treasure this gift of gifts
Understand, nothing else can ever replace
This consummation of holiness
Wrapped in pure delight
The union of my will and your flesh
As you come to know each other this night.
It shall forever reign as a testament of my grace
Take flight, transform, if you must make haste
My son, know that I am well pleased
And I’ve sent her so that she will be too
My daughter, my sweet angel, my songbird, my love
Delight in the man, I’ve prepared for you
Before these great witnesses,
You’ve come before my throne
Seeking life, longevity, favor, and joy,
In a union, you’ve never known

I am here to guide you,
And here I will always be
Just know my love holds all answers,
And alone you will never be
You see my word is to burn deeper
Than the love you possess
Seek my will daily
For it’s sweeter than any caress
For then in divine love,
You will flourish in my courts
And your seed will bear fruit
As your lives exhort
For on your knees you will find me
In my arms, I will hold thee
And in your lives, I promise to provide
Everything that you need

Be it joy and pleasure,
Decisions and rain
They are all designed for you to win
To mature and to gain
To walk circumspectly
In this world of man
A beacon and a witness
To my sovereign plan
One Man, One Woman
One Husband & One Wife
And for this reason
Shall a man leave his mother…

Yesterday’s Glow
Yesterday was a perfect day, I opened my eyes and you were there.
Such peace such joy I felt inside! Was almost too much for me to bear.
I snuggled in closer, smelled your essence and thanked God for
every breath you took.
I became overwhelmed by His goodness, and my tears
confirmed this single truth.
No one, absolutely no one, will ever love you like I do.

The Gift of Love
Loving you has changed me in the most unexpected ways
I see hope in a rainbow
Laughter in the sun
Peace in the valley
And I know God’s grace has fallen upon our lives
Our tomorrows, our love
I find joy in the sunrise and promise when it sets
My soul is satisfied
And baby there are no regrets
There is purity in your eyes
Candy canes in your smile
And when I feel the touch of your hand
The connection warms and electrifies
Oh, how I thank God for sending me you
My prayer, my hope is that your life has been changed too!

And when you think of me
You marvel at the colors you now see
And there’s a brilliance, a radiance that pours inside your soul
And inexplicably, unexpectedly, you understand.
There can be no one else but me!

Beautiful (20 Years Later)
She’s more beautiful than the morning dawn
As I consider her eyes,
My heart is writing a brand-new song
20 years later
She’s my joy, my life, my everything.
I belong to you Charlotte, my wife, my queen and
You’re Beautiful- Just Beautiful!
Wait up it’s my turn Willie, I’ve got something to say
You aren’t the only one who is madly, hopelessly in love today
Do you all see this fine, tall, dark chocolate, man of mine
I get on my knees daily and thank God for making him mine
You are the father of our children, my husband and yes, my earthly king
God called you His own, said follow me and gave you everything

So, he blessed you with the strength to endure
The courage to protect
The wisdom to guide us
And a heart that won’t neglect
His Spirit lives in you
I love you, honor you and thank God
For the man you are
We’ve come this far by faith
Father, Jesus you’ve brought us thus far
And you’re beautiful Willie, just beautiful!
So today is a celebration
Tonight we’ll dance
We’ve come this far by faith
And this is our chance
To Thank the Lord

As we stand hand in hand –side by side
We stand in awe God and we recognize
That we never would have made it
If we did not lean on you
Fall on our face before you
Honor and adore you
Cause Lord your grace & mercy is beautiful,
Just beautiful!
You’ve blessed my womb and honored his seed
Gave us Aiji, Muffin, Munchie and Trey
Our joy and love is overflowing
As our family honors you today
And children, you all are beautiful, just beautiful!
And we’re still praying
Still believing - Still praising
Still serving - Still trusting
Still in love
20 years later and that’s just beautiful

Chapter 3: Rhema Rhymes – Agape and Phileo Love
Here these poems explore God’s unfathomable love for us and
how we are to love each other.
God so “loved” (agape) the world that He gave His Son. It did not feel good to
God to do that, but it was the loving thing to do.
The point is that agape love is not simply an impulse generated from feelings.
Rather, agape love is an exercise of the will, a deliberate choice.

Jesus Is My Melody
There is a song in my heart
Jesus gave it to me
It whispers of His true love
And gently calls to me
It says come into my presence
So my word can heal thee
It ministers to my spirit
And sweetly rescues me
In awe I am changed like Him
Our harmonious song rings out in victory
His sovereignty, yes, His very presence
Is my love song, my melody
The sweet fruit of His spirit
Creates a majestic symphony
That awakens and binds my soul
A consuming fire – bronzed by eternity

The sound, its flavor is like a sweet perfume
That lives strong and passionately in me
Taste and see that the Lord is good
Our benevolent father is also calling to thee
Listen, listen to your heart
Hearken, hearken unto His spirit
Rest, rest in His grace
Rejoice, rejoice as He harmoniously
Binds your name and spirit into one beautiful rhapsody
Yield, submit, surrender, then sing your song
The one chosen to call Jesus your melody
It is a song of power
Ringing with joyous authority
Which births the pure undefiled love
That calls Jesus your melody
There is a song in our hearts
Jesus causes this to be
A chord of harmonious praise
Birthed to honor His majesty

Phileo
You’re my friend
My safe place, like sweet serenity
You’re my Joy
Bubbling up and overflowing
Your voice warms me
When we talk I’m all aglow
Your knowledge astounds me
Our conversations traverse the globe
You’re my friend
And I’m blown away everyday
Cause you’re a special gift
Sent from God
You are my friend

The Prayer
Now I’ll pray…
Our Father, who art in Heaven
Hallowed would be thy name
Tonight as I lay down my head
Bless my friends with the fruits you proclaim
Love, protection,
Favor, guidance, peace,
Precious Lord
Let Temperance nor grace cease
Because they’re my friends
And I love them all the same
Heavenly Father I thank you
In Jesus’s Holy Name
Oh, dear Lord, I dare not forget
Forgive me when I was too busy to call
Your blessings I’ll work to not forfeit
Cause your word says I’m to give them my all

For no greater love there is than
For a man to lay down his life for his brother
So keep me a strong intercessor
So their infirmities I can cover
And wherever there is a need
Open my eyes to see
So my prayers are right on target
That they may have the victory.
In Jesus’s Name I pray,
Amen and Goodnight!

In the Name of Love
They say love drives you mad
I say loves makes you glad
They say love will make you cry
I’ll counter with it answers the question why
Although love sometimes can be very heavy
Think on these things you’ll become merry
Whatever is pure, lovely, whatever lifts one up,
Hope or Joy, with grace that works to fill your cup
But when it seems love is nowhere to be found
Just click your heels and slowly turn around
Face the mirror and the beauty you’ll see
Is the precious jewel God created you to be
You were LOVED into EXISTENCE!

Love
Why does love change everything?
What is it that it takes our souls and caresses our spirits?
Why do we hear rhythmic ballads that call us to a place of surrender?
How does it melt our heart?
Where does it reside before it unveils its grandeur?
When did it tell us life is a magnificent, joyous experience?
Why are we surprised to find gifts of banana cream sunrises and chocolate
orange sunsets?
When will the splendor of this exquisite love exist for every soul?
When we completely embrace, understand and share this truth…
God Is Love!
Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1 John
4:8)
(John 15:9-17)
9-10 “I’ve loved you the way my Father has loved me. Make yourselves at home
in my love. If you keep my commands, you’ll remain intimately at home in my
love. That’s what I’ve done—kept my Father’s commands and made myself at
home in his love.
11-15 “I’ve told you these things for a purpose: that my joy might be your joy, and
your joy wholly mature. This is my command: Love one another the way I loved

you. This is the very best way to love. Put your life on the line for your friends. You
are my friends when you do the things I command you. I’m no longer calling
you servants because servants don’t understand what their master is thinking
and planning. No, I’ve named you friends because I’ve let you in on everything
I’ve heard from the Father.
16 “You didn’t choose me, remember; I chose you, and put you in the world to
bear fruit, fruit that won’t spoil. As fruit bearers, whatever you ask the Father in
relation to me, he gives you.
17 “But remember the root command: Love one another.
God is love
This is true
Jesus taught us
And showed us too
