WELCOMEMONITOR SPEAKERS

A5

`53,600Built on the heritage of ADAM Studio Monitors, which are employed inmany of the most renowned recording and sound studios around theworld, the new compact A5 brings the same breakthrough ADAMloudspeaker technologies to multimedia applications such as desktoprecording, broadcasting, gaming, home theatre and surround applications.

The dynamic response and treble are highly impressive, with great transienthandling. Acoustic material sounds convincing, reverb spaces are audible, and stereo imaging is sharp. The bass and mids are good, too. When mixing,we attenuated the LF and HF EQ, as the A5s sounded a little bit scooped. Ittook us a while to hit upon a good mix - virtually every adjustment seemedto make a difference. The shape of the drums when tweaking compressionwas clearer, as was the reverb space. Our final test mix was solid and satisfying, with rocking, nicely squashed compression on the drums. It might take us alittle while to get used to the sound of the tweeter, but these speakers deserveto be heard, as theyre pretty special.

Amplifiers and controlsTwo built-in 25 Watt amplifiers power the drivers directly. The front of the A5 sports dual ports for surprising low frequency response down to 55Hz, metal grills for durability, as well as power and gain controls. The rear panel includes balanced (XLR) jacks, unbalanced (RCA) jacks, and a host of EQ controls to tailor the sound to suit room acoustics or personal taste.

StereolinkThe A5 employs a new development by ADAM called Stereolink. This new technology connects two A5 speakers in such a manner as to allow the user the option to control the overall stereo volume of the system from either speakers gain control. This makes the A5 a natural for "mixer-less" desktop applications where overall system volume needs to be adjusted often and from a single control.

The new top-of-the-line MSP7 STUDIO Powered Monitor Speaker iscapable of delivering consistent quality and performance that youcan rely on in modern production environments that handle anycombination of digital and analog sources as well as stereo andsurround formats.

MSP7 STUDIO, with a new"advanced magnetic structurethat achieves effective shielding whilemaintaining the integrity of the speaker'smagnetic circuit for significantly lowerdistortion as well as an improved definition.

Where wood cabinets have glued joints that interrupt the continuity of the enclosure, the thick walledMSP7 STUDIO cabinet is molded in one piece, resulting in smooth acoustic transfer throughout the entireenclosure for superior reproduction precision.

The MSP7 STUDIO features a balanced XLR-type connector for input. This provides direct compatibility withprofessional gear and allows the use of balanced lines for maximum audio quality even where long cable runsare required. Rear-panel controls include a continuous input sensitivity control, and trim switches that enableyou to adjust the bass and treble in four and three positions, respectively (+1.5 dB/0 dB/-1.5 dB/-3 dB at 50 Hzand +1.5 dB/0 dB/-1.5 dB at 10 kHz), so that the system's response to be quickly matched to the room. There'salso a low cut (FLAT, 80 Hz, 100 Hz) switch that is useful when the MSP7 STUDIO is used with the SW10 STUDIOsubwoofer. The AC power cord is removable for easy transportation and setup.
