Special Advertising Section W hen the International Year of Natural Fibres rolled around, we thought what could be more natural to include in Spin . Off magazine than natural fiber? But since nearly every issue deals with the amazing, magical qualities of natural fiber and what you can do with it in your spinning, it took all of our brain power to think about how we could make this issue even more special for our readers. And then it hit us—a natural fiber directory! A one-stop, all encompassing, easy-to-take-with-you listing of fiber resources. This list is important, not only for you, as you’re searching for the perfect fleece for your next project, but also for the spinning community. Supporting the shepherds, farmers, and horticulturists who preserve the rare breeds of sheep, cultivate shades of natural-col- ored cotton, and nurture the silkworms means that we will continue to have choices when it comes time to se- lect a fiber for a project—and that is what spinning is all about, isn’t it? Choices. We choose the fiber we want for the texture of the yarn, we choose how we prepare it, what color it will be, and when it will be done (okay— sometimes other things intervene in those choices—but we at least have the wonderful illusion of having choices when it comes to making our yarn as we want it to be). So enjoy your ability to choose your fiber, enjoy poring over these listings and fantasizing about your next foray into the land of natural fiber. —Amy Clarke Moore Editor of Spin . When the International Year of Natural Fibres rolled around, we thought what could be more natural to include in Spin.Off magazine

than natural fiber? But since nearly every issue deals with the amazing, magical qualities of natural fiber and what you can do

with it in your spinning, it took all of our brain power to think about how we could make this issue even more special for our readers. And then it hit us—a natural fiber directory! A one-stop, all encompassing, easy-to-take-with-you listing of fiber resources. This list is important, not only for you, as you’re searching for the perfect fleece for your next project, but also for the spinning community. Supporting the shepherds, farmers, and horticulturists who preserve the rare breeds of sheep, cultivate shades of natural-col-ored cotton, and nurture the silkworms means that we will continue to have choices when it comes time to se-lect a fiber for a project—and that is what spinning is all about, isn’t it? Choices. We choose the fiber we want for the texture of the yarn, we choose how we prepare it, what color it will be, and when it will be done (okay—sometimes other things intervene in those choices—but

we at least have the wonderful illusion of having choices when it comes to making our yarn as we want it to be). So

enjoy your ability to choose your fiber, enjoy poring over these listings and fantasizing about your next foray into the
