GENERAL INFORMATION
PRESIDENTS MESSAGE
This year it’s our 60th birthday!
We are celebrating sixty years of our agricultural and pastoral industries in Central Australia, sixty years of community spirit, memories and family fun. Sixty years supported by hundreds of volunteers sharing their ideas, time, energy and creativity to put on one of the greatest regional shows in Australia.
Sixty years supported by our amazing community – generations of joy! Sixty years supported by our sponsors whom this year include our major sponsors the Northern Territory Government, Imparja, SunFM / 8HA, Centre Electrical Services NT, Yeperenye Shopping Centre, Bellette, Alice Springs Town Council and many more local small businesses and individuals
We give back to the community by investing in ways to continually improve our systems and to make sure we provide a safe and secure environment and clean facilities for you to enjoy. We achieve this by supporting local businesses and clubs to provide many of the services you enjoy and in doing so, inject tens of thousands of dollars back in to the local community.
We also consider how our event impacts our community and take responsibility for the waste to landfill. From our show we are currently sending more than five tonnes of rubbish to landfill each year and we’d like to reduce this amount as much as possible but need your help. Our face book poll in December last year showed 95% of respondents would support recycling at the Show. A recent survey of our 2018 traders also showed an overwhelming response to recycling and phasing out single use plastic.
This year you might notice something a little extra with more coloured bins on the grounds. We are asking everyone to use the ‘right’ bin and recycle if you can in the yellow bin!
While we celebrate sixty years of Shows we also look forward to the future and the next generation taking the reigns to ensure we continue to celebrate our regional agricultural and pastoral industries.
We would like to thank our Patron, Jim Hayes and Vice Patron, Gary Prior for their incredible contribution to our show and their services to the local agricultural and pastoral industry and we announce they too are handing over the ‘reigns’ to their son and daughter respectively. Join us in welcoming Ben Hayes as our Patron, and Rachel Jericho (nee Prior) as our Vice Patron.
We are confident and super excited our show will continue to grow and know it has a bright future ahead.
Happy birthday and we hope you enjoy your Show
Rosie Gibbins
