SPECIAL ISSUE OF HEALTH ECONOMICS: CHINA’S HEALTHCARE SYSTEM

Health Economics is announcing a special issue on China, to be published in June 2009 to coincide withthe 7th World Congress of Health Economics to be held in Beijing, July 2009. We are seeking papers onthe following themes:
1. Evaluation of the performance of China’s health care system, with priority given to the impacts ofChina’s recent health care reform initiatives on ensuring access to care, improving health outcome,providing financial risk protection, improving equities in health and health care, reducinginefficiencies and containing cost inflation. In addition, economic analysis of the forms of healthcare purchasing and their effectiveness in improving China’s health system performance is highlyencouraged.
2. Economic and political economy theories that explain China’s health system reform measures.3. Determinants of health and health care inequities in China. Descriptive papers will not be
considered.
Manuscripts should follow the usual instructions for electronic submission of papers to HealthEconomics. Authors should indicate that they wish their manuscript to be reviewed for inclusion in thespecial issue. All papers will be peer reviewed.
Joint authorship between international and domestic scholars is highly encouraged.
The deadline for submitting papers for this special issue is July 31, 2008. Although not required, thosewho intend to submit a paper are strongly recommended to send an ‘intent to submit’ to Dr Winnie Yip,specifying the title and authors of the paper, with a brief statement on the content of the paper.
