Here we are in April, counting down the last few months before the end of the 2013-2014 term of office. It has been an interesting eighteen months, to say the least. And now it time to start planning for the next term. If you have had the slightest tickle of an urge to push yourself and spread your leadership wings, now is the time! Don Toner is working diligently to put together the Board for next year. Infor-mation about the upcoming officer nominations and elections is in the newsletter and will be on the website along with a couple of e-mail blasts. I won’t kid you, there is definitely some time and effort involved, but it is so worth it! There are friendships to be made and the great things to be created! So start playing the game! This is also the lead up to the International convention which will be held in Hartford, CT this year. We were just notified that our very own Mark Mendez has been selected as a finalist for Young Professional of the Year! This is a very exciting honor! Mark and Harsh have been instrumental in starting our YP group, but also in getting the Regions Young Professionals fired up! Mark is always thinking of ways to not just grow this Chapter, but to engage young professionals in this industry and the help them establish relationships with the seasoned professionals to help develop their skills. His selection as a finalist is well deserved and I think there is no better candidate for this year’s Young Professional of the Year! Put a Save the Date reminder in your calendar for March 4-5, 2015. That is the date for the 2015 Winter Forum, which will be here in Austin! Yeah! The best part is we get to throw a party! We have selected the location already, Max’s Wine Dive. It seems really early, but Winter Forum will overlap the start of SXSW so we wanted to make sure we could have a great place for the reception Thursday night. And we do! So mark it down and plan on coming out! That’s all I have for you today! Go enjoy the fresh air and bluebonnets! Denise L. Skinner, SR/WA Chapter 74 - President

Make A Wish News

John Reed attended the departure party and would like to share the fun night details….. Blake's shyness was more than made up by his older brother. The family is really looking forward to their trip to Disneyworld. I can't begin to cover all the great things that are included in this seven day vacation, and I'm sure Blake and his family will enjoy every minute. The Father and Aunt better rest up and take their vitamins, because seven straight days with this bunch is more than I can imagine. All were very appreciative of Chapter 74's efforts to make this wish come true. The Make-a-Wish volunteers were fantastic with the family, and along with Chili's made this a moment to remember for Blake. In case you are wondering, I'm the one with the big dark glasses."
