SpecialeSchool for Special Students

Because of the Scholarship program of TCDF the poorer kids in the area of Phato can go to local schools. Aim of TCDF is to make sure that ALL children in Phato ara can develop themselves and have an education.

The greatest challenge of the foundation is to make education possible for (mentally as well as physicialy) disabled children. Culturally this is a big challenge, practically it is, but it certainly financially a huge challenge. The government support for disabled children for education is only 400 Baht (10 Euro) a month.

Due to an individual scholarship for these children, the special need kids can go to the Special School of TCDF for four days per week. Most students of the special school have a full scholarship. That means that TCDF pays and organizes for transport to and from school (the schoolbus), we provide lunch, school material, therapies if needed (physiotherapy), education and support from the teachers/caretakers of the school during these four days. Some students will get half a scholarship. This is because they come 2 days or less to the Special School. These children are so disabled that they cannot endure transportation for more than 2 days per week, or they are getting different medical care elsewhere. Others are doing so wel, that the parents – together with TCDF – decided to start sending them to regelar local schools.

In total we use 20 full scholarships for our budget.. TCDF has 25 children subscribed as students for the Special School.



The need for special Education

For the amount of ca. 28,300 Euro per year, the Thai Child Development Foundation can support 25 children. Children who are outside the regular educational system, but – as we are truely convinced – have the right to adapted education. Some kids live further away then others, some live close by TCDf, sometimes books are more expensive for one child, etcetara. In the budget of TCDF, which can be found on our website, you can see a specification of the expenses.

In 2013 TCDF started to focus on vocational training for our Special Need Students. During schooltime, but also at their homes. The parents/care takers and the local community are involved in this program. By setting up small businesses at home, families can generate additional incomes to help managing the care of their children. Condition is that the students are activily involved in the home project.



Students 2013-2014For the school year 2013-2014 the Foundation has currently 25th children receiving a scholarship for the Special School.

In our 2013 budget we calculated the expenses for 20 full scholarships.

For the amount of 28.300 Euro during this year, the Foundation is able to make sure that Special Need children in Phato area can visit their own school for primary and/or vocational education.

Some of the children live further away, some live closer by, some books are more expensive than others and so on. In our budget on the website you will find a specification of the expenses. These expenses differ per child. The amount mentioned in the budget is based on an average.

This document will introduce to the students who have a scholarship with TCDF for the year 2013/2014.

Some of the students are supported by an individual sponsor. This means that the expenses for that child are being payed from a donation made to TCDF. The name of the sponsor and the period of sponsoring is visible on the bottom of the page.

Nong Ta

Born: 25th of October 2000

Disability: Autism

Special care: Daily routines organized via pictograms, cannot be alone

Likes: Drawing, painting, writing Engels and Thai (he is writing 3 to 4 letter words now), English and Thai alphabet, flags of the world, his pictograms, making jig-saws

Special care: Daydreams to much, focus and interaction with others.

Nong Man

Disability: Mentally disabled

Special care: Be calmer, focusing, pay attention.


Likes: playing and caring for the younger students. Drawing and painting. Finds things should be done ‘according to the rules’.

Nong Book

Born: 18th of March 2005

Disability: Mentally disabled, low IQ

Special care: personal care and hygiene, Nong Book is now able to eat by him self but needs to become more tidy, need assistance with daily life, medication.


Likes: music, touching things, feel with his hands, watch tv, dancing, swimming.



Nong Tee

Born: 18th of July 1994

Disability: Autism

Special care: Daily personal care and hygiene, visit the bathroom, learn to help others, daily tasks at home.
