3 . S TRUCTURAL DES IGN CR I TER IAThe airframe is designed and constructed to meet therequirements presented in ASTM standard F2245"Standard Specification for Design and Performance of aLight Sport Airplane".

4 . FUSELAGE

The fuselage is constructed primarily of aluminum alloymaterials. The semi-monocoque structure consists offrames and stringers covered by sheet aluminum skin. A

left hand and right hand door are used to allow access forthe pilot and passenger.

5 . W INGThe wing is constructed primarily of aluminum alloymaterials and incorporates a custom designed airfoil. The wing structure uses a two spar design with a strut

that attaches to the forward spar. Slotted flaps are usedto further lower the stall speed. An integral fuel tank isincorporated in each wing.

The horizontal tail is a fixed design with two elevators.Pitch trim is provided by a single trim tab mounted on the

right hand elevator. The rudder does not have anadjustable trim tab. Includes tail tie down guard.

6 . EMPENNAGE

7 . LAND ING GEARThe main landing gear uses high strength, tapered steeltubes to provide the necessary shock absorption.

Each main wheel is equipped with toe actuated discbrakes. Differential braking is used for nose wheel steer-

ing. Toe brakes are provided at both cockpit seats.

8 . POWERPLANTThe Teledyne Continental Motors O-200D is an air-cooled, horizontally opposed, four cylinder, naturallyaspirated, spark ignited, four stroke, direct drive engineincorporating a wet sump, updraft intake, carburetor, down draft tuned exhaust system w/ EGT sensors, andoil quick drain.

The engine is designed with the capability to operate on100LL aviation fuel, and has a maximum continuous rat-ing of 100 hp at 2750 RPM with a compression ratio of8.5:1. The time between overhaul is 2000 hours or 12years, whichever occurs first.

9 . S YSTEMSThe flight controls consist of dual control sticks, whichprovide movement to the elevator and ailerons. Rudderpedals, with differential toe brakes, provide control to therudder and brakes. A mechanical flap lever locatedbetween the two occupants provides movement to the

flaps. Electric pitch trim is used to adjust elevator trim. A40 amp engine driven alternator powers a single buss 14volt electrical system. A ground service receptacle isincluded. Position, anti-collision, and landing lights arestandard.

Cessna endeavors to select and use high qualitypolyurethane paints from leading manufacturers.Polyurethane paints are used because of their highgloss characteristics and ability to withstand dramatictemperature and pressure changes. The paint on yournew aircraft will maintain its high gloss characteristics foran extended period of time provided it is cared for prop-erly.

The painted exterior surfaces require an initial curingperiod which may be as long as ninety (90) days afterthe finish is applied. During this curing period, some pre-cautions should be taken to avoid damaging the finish orinterfering with the curing process. The finish should becleaned only by washing with clean water and mild soap, followed by a water rinse, and drying with a cloth orchamois. Do not use polish or wax which would excludeair from the surface during this ninety (90) day curingperiod. Once the finish has cured completely, it may bewaxed with a quality automotive wax, but power buffingshould be avoided to prevent damage to the paint sur-face.

Normal paint maintenance will include, but is not limitedto touchup of abrasion and wear of the paint on screwsheads, around access panels, wing leading edges, ver-tical and horizontal stabilizer leading edges, windshieldretainers, and other leading edge surfaces includingparts on the landing gear subject to damage or erosionfrom airborne particles. Proper maintenance includeskeeping surfaces clean, polished, and touching upchipped or eroded areas to prevent further damage andcorrosion.

Paint and graphics warranty applies only to defects inmaterial and workmanship for a period of one (1) year or1,000 hours (whichever occurs first) from the warrantystart date. Deterioration of paint and graphics due to nor-mal wear, exposure, or improper care is not covered bythe warranty. If proper paint maintenance procedureshave been followed and paint peeling, blistering, orcracking is evident in areas other than immediate lead-ing edge surfaces, warranty consideration may berequested thorough a Cessna Service Station.

Generally speaking, warranty repair of paint is confinedto a limited surface area. Workmanship or materialdefects can usually be identified to localized surfaceareas that were improperly prepared prior to paint appli-

cation, or to areas where the paint or subsurface primerhas been improperly applied.

Complete strip and repaint of an entire airplane canONLY be authorized if there is evidence of paint defectson several major surface areas of the aircraft. Contactyour Cessna Field Service Engineer concerning paintdefects on any major surface of an aircraft.
