SPectra was the brain child of Wes lane and Jayne farrell, with a concept of blending lighting design and fashion into a spec-tacular experience. they brought together talents from across the globe, incorporating award-win-ning fashion designer rené Ge-neva, award-winning hair and make-up stylists from Waterstone Salon, the interactive event de-signers from clever Maven, and introducing an avant-Garde col-lection torn by designer topher adam - owner of Dark Beauty Magazine and SX couture.

What better place to bring the passion of light, fashion, and mu-sic together with a unique twist than Austin Fashion Week’s Offi-cial after Party. Sit back, have a drink, and enjoy this experience and the journey of “SPectra”.

lighting Designer Wes lane began his career in lighting as a product design engineer for High end Systems (www.highend.com), an industry leader in the entertainment and the-atrical lighting industry. During his nine years with High end, his focus was on the design of cutting edge automated lighting instruments.

in the summer of 2000, Wes founded Solux Design in austin, texas. Solux was a high end lighting showroom with a focus on con-temporary decorative and architectural prod-ucts. expanding his talents, Wes applied his knowledge and talent to many successful projects throughout the U.S., in both light-ing design and custom fixture designs: fab-rication of fixture for restaurants, boutiques, night clubs, high-end residences and pools.

Wes’ lighting creations have been included on many aia Homes tours. in 2004 Wes de-signed the lighting laboratory at the Uni-versity of texas School of architecture, a state-of-the-art resource for students to in-corporate lighting into their projects. in 2005 Wes assisted the Ut School of architecture with their Solar Decathlon entry.

in 2006 Wes received a platinum award for Design excellence (aDeX) for a custom de-signed pendant “Shinmauri” which was hand crafted by the noted los angeles-based Satori light Sculptures. He also received 2 platinum and a gold aDeX award in 2007 for cubed, cubozoa, and pen-will, respectively.

in 2007 liGHtfaktor opened its doors as an independent lighting design firm with the focus on custom fixtures and fabrications while implamenting the latest advancements in lighting tech-nology and modern design. While us-ing the latest techniques liGHtfaktor makes use of automated lighting and DMX controls, bringing a new twist and life to each project. With each client his craftsmanship continues to grow as does the demand for Wes’ expertise…

Jayne Farrell, partner at LIGHTfaktor.

Jayne farrell - Design entrepreneur and proud mother of two – joined the liGHtfaktor team in 2011 as Public relations and Operations Manager. She has watched austin grow since 1995. Jayne brings creative inspira-tion to the team at liGHtfaktor, as well as fire and drive to grow in new exciting directions. Gaining a broad art network from her travels, Jayne felt inspired to cross creative bridges and bring lighting elements into other art and design arenas. She handpicked our team of Spectra designers to explore the expanding technological advance-ments in electronic textiles.

Jayne has pushed boundaries with Spectra, by fusing her

passions for lighting and fashion, into one decadent show. She is excited to see her creative vision for the event take form.

topher adam, SX couture knows his aVaNt-GarDe world and style. Owner and editor and chief of Dark Beauty Magazine, topher adam presents the world with high fashion and conceptual fashion for the all to see. Having worked in fashion for over 20 years, topher adam has something to say and he is ready to help new and emerging artist bring their artistry to life.

SX couture (Skull n’ crossbow) brand was started four years ago. His style is a perfect blend of dark edge and old world fashion. topher adam is inspired by Victorian fashion forward thinking and bringing the elements of the past infused with a modern and unique way.

Having been a semi-finalist on Project Run-way, not making it to finals boosted his am-bition to find what matters most isn’t the public view, its the personal connection with his garments to each client. “there is more to fashion then wearing rags to make you look good, you have to wear the rags to have it make you feel good”

Special thanks to my partner carl chen for all he does and the continued support over all these years of my creative explorations. y-i-N-e-!

Blanca Urano’s love affair with the fashion industry was ingrained from the start. after being recruited by an agency at the tender age of 12, she began modeling for publica-tions such as Vogue, italian Vogue, GQ, and Mademoiselle. During that time, she had the pleasure of working with acclaimed photog-raphers such as Bruce Weber and Peggy Sirota. if a life of beauty and fashion wasn’t already cemented, it was after opening Wa-terstone Salon at the end of 2008 with her husband timothy.

With nominations for Best Salon during austin fashion Week 2009 and 2010, Wa-terstone’s talented stylists(hair, makeup and fashion) put on some of the most talked about runway shows of each year, raising money for charities benefiting Locks of Love and the tsunami victims in Japan. a business built on service as much as fashion, Water-stone is dedicated to customer satisfaction. Whether it be an outside-of-the-box coif or a more natural look, their stylists have the “eye” and the skill to execute.

CORDUROI:

corduroi is about re-imagining the past while reworking the present. corduroi came into being in 2005, as texas native cody Wilson began playing with sampling live instruments through his computer’s microphone to try to capture the nostalgic and fanciful feel of childhood. everything he could get his hands on, including guitar, ukulele, glockenspiel, toy piano, accordion, and trumpet made the mix. He took the name corduroi from his fa-vorite childhood book, corduroy the Bear as a symbol of that nostalgia. Once he moved to Austin, and started to draw influences from electronic producers such as Kraft-werk and more recently flying lotus, and add those influences to the mix, his music developed into how it sounds today. Smooth and catchy, yet lively and high-spirited, cor-duroi’s sound draws inspiration from various genres and musical eras, distilling them into minimal electro-pop. there is an unmistak-able magic in manipulating and reproducing music. corduroi is all about the exploration of that magic.

ARTheism

topher Sipes is lead visualist, creative di-rector and co-founder of artheism, the live “dance-imation” performance company specializing in combining real time, project-ed animation over the canvas of a dancing body and/or performing musicians. arthe-ism’s visuals differ from most due to dance-like, improvisational visual control via multi-touch pad/digital drawing tablet facilitating an unparalleled humanization of technology. the company was founded by topher and Samantha Beasley (lead dancer, choreog-rapher) in Spring 2011 and has since per-formed at festivals, music venues, private gatherings, art shows, auditoriums and more plus periodically shares interactive, intermedia workshops. this fall, artheism continues to perform with a wider range of movement artists, will be artists in residence with hooper, Brecken rivara, at the Penasco theater in New Mexico, and is scheduled to direct, produce and perform texas State Uni-versity’s fall common experience concert.
