Speech – Criteria of an ideal teacher.

Assalamualaikum and a very good morning to our respectful lecture, Dr. Lajiman

Janoory, dedicated lecturers and my fellow classmates. First I would like to thank to Dr.

Lajiman for giving me this wonderful opportunity to give a speech on today’s Teacher’s Day

celebration. Therefore, to honour this magnificent day, I am gladly to talk on the criteria of an

ideal teacher.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Across the globe, a teacher is highly respected by the society. They earn a great rank

in the social hierarchy and they also ranked just after our dear most parents. Thus, most

people would consider teaching is truly a noble profession as they display great value to pivot

the education for the younger generation. We could also say that it is a teacher that lifts up our

children from the earth to the heaven. They would use variants of tools to educate their

students and they strive hard to achieve the education standard so that our child would be a

greater leader in the future. Based on this, we could see that a role of a teacher is very strong

in shaping a country’s prospect, thus I am pleased to share with you the best criteria that a

teacher could have and it also could be a guide for any teachers out there in being an ideal

teacher.

Becoming totally ideal teacher is not possible because that would mean that the

teacher actually has achieved such a level of perfection that she or he no longer need further

effort toward improvement. Hence, I strongly believe that a path to be an ideal teacher, the

teacher requires to growth and this means that the teacher constantly needs to improve

themselves so that they would equip with the best knowledge in way to educate the students.

For instance, a teacher needs to cater with the development of today’s technology in way to

vary their teaching method that will grasp the students’ attention in the classroom

environment. A teacher that fail to progress together with the students’ need would most

probably fail to mould much greater children for more eminent future.

Brothers and sisters,

The second criterion that I propose for the teacher in order to be the ideal teacher is to

has a good personality. The true respectful scholar should have the best traits in their daily life

as they become an actual living and influential role model to the students. The students

always look up their teacher as their hero and they tend to follow the teacher’s action and

even tag along on every word that a teacher would utter. The influence of a teacher on the

students is so much that whatever he or she says or do is considered as truth and whatever he

or she does is also considered to be perfect. This shows us that how a teacher possess such

power on one’s life especially the life of the children.

Next, the third principle in becoming an ideal teacher is the necessity to build a good

teacher-students relationship. This relationship need to be established in harmonious ways so

that the teacher could participate well in the students’ life part from being just a plain teacher

in the classroom. In my opinion, it is important to the teacher to pay his or her affection for

each student in way that the teacher would involve more in their students’ daily life. With

this, the teacher could help their students if they need help from them. After all, the teacher is

always considered as the second parents for the children and by chipping in the students’ life,

one teacher may probably saved a life by playing the role of a mother or a father.

Members of the floor,

An ideal teacher should possess a high passion for teaching and also a great

enthusiasm to the children. A great and wonderful teacher is passionate about their teaching

and they usually would enjoy working with the children. By having this quality, the teacher

would be much excited to educate the children with their own way. They would also be more

eager to influence the students’ life and able to understand the impact that they have in the

shaping a student’s future. I do believe that a passionate teacher with their career would

fervent their teaching skills and methodology so that they would leave an immense effect in

their classroom. A passionate teacher would also always be prepared before they could enter

the classroom. They would try their best to please their only client that is the student.

So to conclude my talk today, an ideal teacher would be a teacher that considers him

or herself a selfless scholar that would carry his duty to create an interest, curiosity to learn

within his pupils. I did not visualize myself as an ideal teacher as there are a lot of patches

that I need to improve to earn the title of an ideal teacher. After all, according to William

Arthur Ward; “the mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher

demonstrates but the great teacher inspires”. Within this word, in a nutshell, I strongly agree

that an ideal teacher is the mirror of a good human being that considers himself as a carbon

copy to the world with the knowledge that he or she has.
