Methods/Fieldwork

1. Collected aerial maps of Spelman’s campus

2. Interviewed facility management

3. Participated in meetings and fieldwork

4. Calculated surface area of buildings and open space to determine stormwater runoff

5. Selected kinds of green infrastructure to accomplish our objective of detaining 4.5 million gallons of stormwater runoff.

Learning Experience Quantify stormwater runoff from buildings

Learn about how our campus significantly contributes to flooding and associated health problems in the lower elevation residential neighborhoods such as Vine City and English Avenue

 Engineering principles and concepts

Insight to the world of community design and urban planning
