Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer, and spend out of what We have

provided for them

It is not Al-Birr (piety, righteousness, and eah and every at of obediene to

Allah, et!" that you turn your faes towards east and (or" west (in prayers"#

but Al-Birr is (the $uality of" the one who believes in Allah, the %ast &ay, the

Angels, the Boo', the rophets and gives his wealth, in spite of love for it, to

the 'insfol', to the orphans, and to Al-)asa'in (the poor", and to the

wayfarer, and to those who as', and to set slaves free, performs As-*alat

(I$amat-as-*alat", and gives the +a'at, and who fulll their ovenant when

they ma'e it, and who are As-*abirin (the patient ones, et!" in etreme

poverty and ailment (disease" and at the time of ghting (during the battles"!

*uh are the people of the truth and they are Al-)utta$un (pious - see .!2:2"!2:/00

And spend in the way of Allah and do not throw 1yourselves with your 1own

hands into destrution 1by refraining! And do good# indeed, Allah loves the

doers of good!

5hey as' you (6 )uhammad *AW" what they should spend! *ay: Whatever

you spend of good must be for parents and 'indred and orphans and Al-

)asa'in (the poor" and the wayfarers, and whatever you do of good deeds,truly, Allah 'nows it well!

5hey as' you (6 )uhammad *AW" onerning aloholi drin' and gambling!

*ay: 7In them is a great sin, and (some" benet for men, but the sin of them is

greater than their benet!7 And they as' you what they ought to spend! *ay:

75hat whih is beyond your needs!7 5hus Allah ma'es lear to you 8is %aws in

order that you may give thought!7

6 you who believe9 *pend of that with whih We have provided for you,

before a &ay omes when there will be no bargaining, nor friendship, nor

interession! And it is the disbelievers who are the +alimun (wrong-doers,

et!"!

5he li'eness of what they spend in this world is the li'eness of a wind whih is

etremely old# it stru' the harvest of a people who did wrong against

themselves and destroyed it, (i!e! the good deed of a person is only aepted

if he is a monotheist and believes in all the rophets of Allah, inluding ;hrist

and )uhammad *AW"! Allah wronged them not, but they wronged

themselves!

and in adversity, who repress anger, and who pardon men# verily, Allah loves

Al-)uhsinun (the good-doers"!

5he believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a fear in their

hearts and when 8is .erses (this Kuran" are reited unto them, they (i!e! the

.erses" inrease their ?aith# and they put their trust in their %ord (Alone"#

Who perform As-*alat (I$amat-as-*alat" and spend out of that We have

provided them!

It is they who are the believers in truth! ?or them are grades of dignity with

their %ord, and ?orgiveness and a generous provision (aradise"!J:2-

And ma'e ready against them all you an of power, inluding steeds of war

(tan's, planes, missiles, artillery, et!" to threaten the enemy of Allah and

your enemy, and others besides whom, you may not 'now but whom Allah

does 'now! And whatever you shall spend in the ;ause of Allah shall be

repaid unto you, and you shall not be treated un

whereon they shall meet 8im, beause they bro'e that (ovenant with Allah"

whih they had promised 8im and beause they used to tell lies!

*alat (I$amat-as-*alat", and spend out of that whih We have bestowed on

them, seretly and openly, and defend against evil with good, for suh there

is a good end#

should perform As-*alat (I$amat-as-*alat", and spend in harity out of the

sustenane We have given them, seretly and openly, before the oming of a

&ay on whih there will be neither mutual bargaining nor befriending!

Whose hearts are lled with fear when Allah is mentioned# who patiently bear

whatever may befall them (of alamities"# and who perform As-*alat (I$amat-

as-*alat", and who spend (in Allah@s ;ause" out of what We have provided

them!

And the slaves of the )ost Beneent (Allah" are those who wal' on the earth

in humility and sedateness, and when the foolish address them (with badwords" they reply ba' with mild words of gentleness!

And those who spend the night before their %ord, prostrate and standing!

And those who say: 76ur %ord9 Avert from us the torment of 8ell! .erily9 Its

torment is ever an inseparable, permanent punishment!7

Mvil indeed it (8ell" is as an abode and as a plae to dwell!

And those, who, when they spend, are neither etravagant nor niggardly, but

hold a medium (way" between those (etremes"!

And those who invo'e not any other ilah (god" along with Allah, nor 'ill suh

life as Allah has forbidden, eept for

and glorify the raises of their %ord, and they are not proud!

5heir sides forsa'e their beds, to invo'e their %ord in fear and hope, and they

spend (harity in Allah@s ;ause" out of what We have bestowed on them!

*ay: 75ruly, my %ord enlarges the provision for whom 8e wills of 8is slaves,

and (also" restrits (it" for him, and whatsoever you spend of anything (in

Allah@s ;ause", 8e will replae it! And 8e is the Best of providers!7

.erily, those who reite the Boo' of Allah (this Kuran", and perform As*alat

(I$amatas*alat", and spend (in harity" out of what We have provided for

them, seretly and openly, hope for a (sure" tradegain that will never perish!

And those who answer the ;all of their %ord 1i!e! to believe that 8e is the only

6ne %ord (Allah", and to worship none but 8im Alone, and perform As-*alat

(I$amat-as-*alat", and who (ondut" their aNairs by mutual onsultation, and

who spend of what We have bestowed on them#

Believe in Allah and 8is )essenger ()uhammad *AW", and spend of that

whereof 8e has made you trustees! And suh of you as believe and spend (in

Allah@s Way", theirs will be a great reward!

And what is the matter with you that you believe not in Allah9 While the

)essenger ()uhammad *AW" invites you to believe in your %ord (Allah", and

8e (Allah" has indeed ta'en your ovenant, if you are real believers!

It is 8e Who sends down manifest Ayat (proofs, evidenes, verses, lessons,

signs, revelations, et!" to 8is slave ()uhammad *AW" that 8e may bring you

out from dar'ness into light! And verily, Allah is to you full of 'indness, )ost

)eriful!

And what is the matter with you that you spend not in the ;ause of AllahC

And to Allah belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth! Dot e$ualamong you are those who spent and fought before the on$uering (of

)a''ah" (with those among you who did so later"! *uh are higher in degree

than those who spent and fought afterwards! But to all, Allah has promised

the best (reward"! And Allah is All-Aware of what you do!

Who is he that will lend to Allah a goodly loan, then (Allah" will inrease it

manifold to his redit (in repaying", and he will have (besides" a good reward

6n the &ay you shall see the believing men and the believing women their

light running forward before them and by their right hands! Glad tidings for

you this &ay9 Gardens under whih rivers ow (aradise", to dwell therein

forever9 5ruly, this is the great suess9

Behold9 Eou are those who are alled to spend in the ;ause of Allah, yet

among you are some who are niggardly! And whoever is niggardly, it is only

at the epense of his ownself! But Allah is >ih (?ree of all wants", and you

(man'ind" are poor! And if you turn away (from Islam and the obediene of

Allah", 8e will ehange you for some other people, and they will not be your

li'es!

for a little while (i!e! return to the worldly life", then I should give *ada$ah

withhold it, it will be bad for you! 5here is no blame upon you if you have ight 8and and will nurture the *ada$ah for its giver as

spending si illegal nights with her! 6ne the gravity of his sin dawned upon

without food or drin', eept a bread roll whih he bro'e into two piees

giving half to a man on his right and the other half to a man on his left! AllOh

sent the Angel of &eath to ta'e his soul at that moment, and his Aounting

started as the sity years of worship were plaed on the sale versus the si

nights P the si illegal nights outweighed the worship! 5hen, the si nightswere plaed on the sale against the bread roll P the bread roll outweighed
