New Analysis of Uniplast Data

■ Caveats:– Uniplast double tested some tiles (unsure of extent)– Some tiles were tested that were not sent to us (yet) (10.5% of test sample)– 2 “bad” tiles were sent to us

■ Our tests (2 different setups) found 1 (other still needs to be tested)■ “Bad” tile found to have similar performance ratio in both tests

– Data comes from December 15th - December 25th

■ Method:– Take Uniplast data– Filter according to John H.’s method– Correct for SiPM bias– Plot !"#$%&'/⟨!"#$'*+⟩ (no reference tile in Uniplast data).

New Tile Tester

■ New and improved tile tester arrived last week

■ More robust than previous setup

■ SiPM holders fit new light blockers

■ Include Omega thermocouple relay– Software needs installing

■ Priority is to run all tiles through new test stand– Need concrete way to quantify tile performance

■ Performed two tests thus far:– Test 1: Use two channels as triggers, top and bottom– Test 2: Use each pair of channels as triggers (standard CAEN running configuration)

■ Want to establish which tests are going to give us reliable information

SiPM Calibration – Test 1■ Variances are tighter with better SiPM Holder/Light blocker fit

– Tiles are held against SiPM holder and held in alignment by magnets

■ However, there appears to be a trigger bias– I.e. position 9’s variance is lower because it’s a trigger pair with channel 0

■ Additionally, appear that each tile type will need its own correction

Replicating Uniplast Trigger System –Test 2

■ Using the “pair-wise trigger” system should clean up trigger bias– Each pair of channels is a trigger, and any time a pair sees an event, all other

pairs take data – Software cut requires coincidence of all channels

■ Proposal: use test 1 setup in future testing (two reference tiles for all testing)– Part 2: designate another tile to be a second reference tile– Performance ratio then becomes !"#_%&'(/⟨!"#+,-.⟩– Also will begin creating SiPM correction factors for each tile angle.

■ Do one last pass through of all tiles (should be done by next week), checkmeasurement tolerances, apply barcodes, and ship back to BNL.

■ Planning trip to Russia in May
