ELEON fits all bus types from minibuses to double-deckers or articulated vehicles. Electric remote control gives the driver complete control of the ventilation usage.

The plastic dome emergency exit release mechanisms are designed to grant as much freedom to the bus manufacturer as possible. All emergency release functions are in the dome. Thus the interior of the bus can be designed more freely wit-hout jeopardizing the emergency exit functionality.

One basic modular structure fits all needs. Mounting is iden-tical for all basic versions: glass, plastic, static; be it manual or electric. Should you mount the hatch separately from the bus, please contact us for additional solutions.

The plastic dome has a simple and straight forward basic design. Manual version has handles hidden at the end of the dome to give the product a more integrated appearance. Emergency exit release handle is under a plexi cover. There is only one internal and external emergency release handle.

ELEON fulfils the UN ECE R.107 rev. 6 which sets the mini-mum requirements for the emergency exit area: 600 x 700 mm in opening when the emergency exit has been released, and 4500 cm2 as surface area.

ELEON can function fully automatically. Integration to Multiplex systems integrates the hatches completely to the rest of the vehicle HVAC system. An optional rain sensor takes care of closing the hatches automatically in case of rain.

For emergency exit use the minimum requirements of the UN ECE R.107 rev. 6 must be met in all conditions should vehicle manufacturer‘s own interior trim design be imple-mented.

2M7 is the very basic roof hatch from Parabus, that meets the new escape regulation UN ECE R.107 rev. 6. The hatch has been on the market for many years and it has been tested in thousands of buses all over the globe; in extreme heats of the Middle East to the extreme colds of Siberia.

Type registration of new vehicles changed Jun 10th 2014. During the transition time (48 months) vehicles can still be type approved according to UN ECE R.107 rev. 4, but after the transi-tion time is over, vehicles do not get new type approvals. The 2M7 hatch is available as of immediately.

The simple but robust mechanisms of 2M7 open in two posi-tions as standard. Ventilation capacity is very high due to a wide aperture of the hatch and free air flow to the interior of the bus.

This UN ECE R.107 rev. 6 approved emergency hatch is very light with a total mass (incl. inner trim) of only 8,5 kg. 2M7 has a flexible outer frame, which is mounted to the roof by screws (included in the set). Water sealant is butyl, which is premounted on the outer frame. The hatch is immediately usable after mounting, no drying time is required. Thanks to the dual sheet structure dome the unit has excellent thermal insulation against extreme hot and cold. There is no conden-se build in the dome.

The interior of the hatch comes in dark grey (RAL 7011) and the dome top in white dual layer thermoplastics offering an excellent weather and UV protection.

MODUS Clear is the new ECE approved emergency exit ventila-tor roof hatch member in the Modus family. It has been devel-oped for any bus market taking into consideration the needs and demands of today. Glass has become a popular material in roof hatches creating a more spacious feeling in the bus. The simple but robust mechanisms of MODUS City open in two positions as standard. With the extended handle mechanism the hatch opens in three steps offering a ventila-tion gap of up to 70 mm.

This 2001/85EC approved emergency hatch is the lightest of its kind with a total mass of only 8,2 kg. The new bondable outer frame enables a quick and precise fitting to ensure a life time water proof functionality for the dome and the emergency exit handle lead in. An extra wide mounting col-lar with plenty of tolerance (width -12 to +20 mm and length -20 to +20 mm) allows easy mounting in a cut-off size of 530x970. There is an ever growing demand for electrically operated hatches. City buses of today are mainly low-floor buses, which makes it very difficult to operate the roof hatches due to the height of the vehicle.

The completely new electric mechanisms are extremely fast and robust. Opening or closing time is about 1 second. Due to new development the hatch is up to 10 % lighter in weight than the previous electric hatches. Modus Comfort series hatches are operated with a Digital Hatch Control Unit, DHC.

Roof Hatch ventilation consumes considerably less energy than an A/C unit. When A/C is not necessarily needed, the driver can use the roof hatches for ventilation and save ener-gy. The driver can operate the hatches by a simple push of a button.

The Modus Coach hatch is a new creation where several fea-tures have been combined. Elegant timeless design, robust maintenance free manual mechanisms, easy and fast moun-ting are just some of the key characteristics of this hatch.

An injection molded frame is the heart and soul of the hatch. Quick and precise fitting by bonding ensures a life time water proof functionality for the dome and the emer-gency exit handles. An extra wide mounting collar with plen-ty of tolerance (width -12 to +20 mm and lenght -20 to +20 mm) allows easy mounting in a cut-off size of 530 x 970.

This ECE approved emergency hatch is light in weight with a total mass of only 9,6 kg. Thanks to the dual wall structure dome the unit has excellent heat and cold insulation.

The MODUS Coach can be mounted in a vehicle with a roof outer radius anywhere between 6000 mm to flat as default and with a roof thickness of 40 mm up to 100 mm depen-ding on the operation handle. When placing an order, please remember to state the roof inner (R1) and outer radius (R2) and thickness of the roof on the long side (T). A 3D CAD-file of the complete roof structure is preferred.

An integrated roof hatch with ventilator unit saves time in terms of part numbers and assembly time. Modus Cool is like striking not two, but three flies in one go: an emergency exit, a ventilation hatch, and an electric ventilator hatch to make travelling in a bus even more comfortable - regardless of the speed and outside weather conditions.

The air volume inside a normal bus is about 75 m3. With an air flow of 200 m3/h /hatch this means that the air in a bus with two hatches has been completely exchanged in barely 10 minutes meeting the German VDV 236 regulation (condi-tions vary depending on level of fresh-air intake). This ven-tilation capacity gives a great boost to the A/C unit, when switched on. If the bus is hot inside, using the A/C and the hatch ventilators at the same time will speed up the cooling process. The service function makes it possible to open the hatch like a door due to the clever patented hinged mechanisms. Accessing the roof through a service hatch to maintain the A/C or other devices on the roof cannot be made easier. Since the hatch can be opened like a door, ventilation is way better when the bus is stationary and the hatches are com-pletely open.

The extremely strong, yet light weight composite mecha-nisms ensure optimal ventilation. As more power is required to open the mechanisms than to close them, they are also more wind resistant than traditional dead-point mechnisms. This ECE and FNVSS approved emergency hatch is light in weight with a total mass of only 9,9 kg. Thanks to the dual wall structure dome the unit has excellent heat and cold insulation. The unit is also completely UV resistant due to the dual-layer outer surface material.

BusTop Premium is fast to mount. It can be mounted as a complete unit by gluing only - there is no need to disassem-ble the hatch for mounting. The hatch has all the neces-sary electronics integrated and it has a number of add-on features available. BusTop Premium is not only a driver / operator friendly product, but also a passanger friendly pro-duct due to a separate noise reducing under plate, which comes as standard. Bus Top Premium is also a very compact light weight product (9 kg). The hatch has a unique inte-grated electronic operation system, which drives the one single leveling motor. The GLM roof hatch is adjustable in multiple positions bet-ween open and closed thus offering the possibility to choose the most suitable opening for ideal ventilation. The Digital Hatch Control unit DHC is the most advanced HatchControl Unit available. The DHC unit can be operated with stan-dard on-off switches, it can also be seamlessly integrated to the Multiplex system of the bus through a node, and with an intel-ligent dedicated Driver Unit called the DU. The new Control Unit DHC calculates the motor behavior, opera-tion temperature, and a number of other variables to ensure proper function of the electric hatches. DHC is compatible with all existing Parabus electric hatches and the new Modus Comfort series. One DHC module controls one hatch (2 motors). The motors are not driven parallel, so the cabling can be made thinner and lighter.

Digital Hatch Control - DHC


DHC is the state of the art Digital Hatch Control unit. Cabling can be lighter than in standard hatch environments due to its advance power control. Even if both ends are clo-sed by the switch simultaneously, DHC closes one end at the time to minimize peak power usage. It is extremely easy to integrate an automatic closing system to the hatches with DHC if needed.

When either of the hatch mechanisms is open, DHC gives the driver an indication of this – if desired. An integration to the Multiplex system gives the most out of the new DHC Control Unit. DHC takes even the Multiplex “leakage” into account and thus no extra resistors or gadgets are needed when connecting the DHC to a node.

With the flexibility of Multiplex only fantasy sets the limit; the hatches can be easily programmed together with the A/C to get maximum cooling efficiency.

DHC can also be controlled by a specially designed Driver Unit DU. This DU communicates digitally with the DHC by means of a single cable. The DU can control up to 4 DHC units independently.

The Digital Driver Unit DU is the ultimate control interface for the Digital Hatch Control DHC. DU has its own intelligence and controls 1 to 4 hatches. The Driver Unit DU is easy and fast to install due to Digital Communication. Cabling for 1 hatch is as easy as for 4 hatches. Only 2 cables are needed: Power and Data. Since both parties have intelligence and memory functions, no additional control units are required.

The Hatch identification is carried out by using termination in the DHC unit. This way only one data cable is required for the whole hatch control system, regardless if there are 1 or 4 hatches.

Digital Driver Unit - DU

DU gives maximum flexibility and comfort in operating the hatches. DU is made completely independent from any of the other electric functions in the bus, but it is still possible to override the DU with an external signal. In case where the bus builder does not want a full Multiplex integration, one external override signal can automatically close all hatches (A/C turned on, wind shield wipers go on etc).

The illumination of the DU has also its own dedicated input, which can be connected to the lights of the vehicle or wherever best suited. An output signal indicates if all func-tion are carried to the end. This is a typical function needed when the mains of the bus is to be switched off.

Due to the DU‘s intelligence and memory function, hatches can be programmed to desired positions with a touch of just one button. Short-cuts for opening and closing all hatches are also built into the operation software.

Megavent, the UN ECE R.10 approved ventilator, is the opti-mal ventilator for a bus where maximum air exchange capa-city is needed. Typically City Buses require high ventilation performance to remove the humidity from the passenger cabin. Megavent is the optimal product to meet the VDV 236 ventilation requirement. Due to the ventilation per-formance, sufficient substitute air must be available, since otherwise the ventilator creates a vacuum.

An integrated back-flow valve blocks the air flowing the wrong way when the fan is not working. This also prevents any water and snow entry. The ventilator is mounted on the bus roof by bonding. It requires a ø 380mm aperture and an opening for the cable pass through.

The performance does not compromise the comfort.Performing the 1250 m3/h still keeps the noise level very low: 68 db. The ventilator is free of heavy metals according to 2000/53/EU (ELV), last modification 2005/673/EU and meets also the flammability requirements according to UN ECE R.118.

These versatile units can be used to a wide range of ventilationneeds. The EF2 and EF4 fans are multipurpose fans with radialblowers offering either suction or blowing function, depending on the model. They can be used as a roof ventilator in suction of air (EF2 / EF4).

EF2T and EF4T can be assembled to a wall, e.g. for toilet ventila-tion, luggage compartment pressurising or individual ventilation for the driver. This version has a tube adapter available for a 80 and 90 mm diameter hose, through which stale air can be sucked out from the vehicle or fresh air led inside the vehicle. Due to a radial motor the EF2 and EF4 units can efficiently resist counter-pressure caused by a hose, closing mechanism or over pressure.
