The Agony and Ecstasy of Playing Spider-Man- Charles St. Anthony

Are your Spidey senses tingling? That’s not all that tingles when playing Spider-Man, as the man behind the super hero’s newest incarnation tells us. Speaking with ShortList, Tom Holland says that under the Spider-Man suit all he has on is a smile and a thong. “They brought them in on the first day, like, ‘Here are your thongs.’ I had serious misgivings―would my arsehole ever be the same again?”

Born in Kingston-upon-Thames in the UK, Tom and his thongs come in the wake of successful turns as Spider-Man by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. Iron Man himself waxes eloquent about the prospects of the super hero. Robert Downey Jr. told the Daily Mail, “He’s enthusiastic, bright and gifted, a very physically talented guy by virtue of his dance and acrobatic background.” Collectively the Maguire and Garfield Spideys have grossed $3.9 billion in revenue, making it one of the most successful super hero franchises of all time. We’ll see if Spider-Man continues to spin webs of gold, as Spider-Man: Homecoming rolls out across the world this summer.
