MEANING

Many Christians apart from their natural father, have a spiritual father as well, who teaches them how to live their lives with Christ and directs them into the path of spiritual salvation.

MODERN SPIRITUAL FATHERS

Nowadays, the greatest Spiritual Fathers live in Mount Athos which is part of the Chalcidice Peninsula and which we Orthodox call “The Holy Mountain”.

Some of the greatest Spiritual Fathers are: Father Paisios (1924 – 1994) Father Porfirios (1906 - 1991) Father Filotheos Zervakos (1884 – 1980) Father Ieronimos of Aegina (1883 – 1966)

MIRACLES

Father Paisios after his death also helped people. He was sometimes appearing to sick people or their close relatives to give them advice (e.g. not to do a surgery).

They make prophecies about the future.

They maybe see you for the first time and they will know who you are and if you have a problem what is it.
