Colossians 3:1-10  If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where

Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2  Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3

For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. 4  When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. 5  Therefore put to

death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and

covetousness, which is idolatry. 6  Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of

disobedience, 7  in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. 8  But now you

yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your

mouth. 9  Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds, 10  and have put

on the new man who is renewed in knowledge according to the image of Him who created him,

SPIRITUAL RENEWALA. (Gal 2:20) "I have been crucified with

Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

B. SPIRITUAL REVIVAL IS NEEDED IN THE LIVES OF MANY CHRISTIANS

Page 4: spiritual renewal

SPIRITUAL RENEWALC. NOT THAT WE ARE BAD PEOPLE, WE HAVE JUST BECOME

LUKEWARM - (Rev 3:14-19) "And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, 'These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: {15} "I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. {16} "So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. {17} "Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing'; and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked; {18} "I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. {19} "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.

I. RECOGNIZE AND ACCEPT THE LORDSHIP OF JESUS

A. (Rom 10:9) that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

B. (Phil 2:8-11) And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. {9} Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, {10} that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, {11} and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

II. STUDY HIS WORD CONSTANTLYA. (2 Tim 2:15) Be diligent to present yourself

approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

B. (Heb 5:12-14) For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. {13} For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. {14} But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

III. PRAY FOR HIS GUIDANCE AND STRENGTH

A. (Phil 4:6-7) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; {7} and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

B. (Col 1:9-11) For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; {10} that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; {11} strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;

IV. WORSHIP HIM IN SPIRIT AND TRUTH

A. (John 4:23-24) "But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. {24} "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.“

B. (Mat 15:7-9) "Hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy about you, saying: {8} 'These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. {9} And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.‘”

V. SERVE HIM BY SERVING OTHERSA. (Mat 25:31-40) "When the Son of Man comes in His

glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. {32} "All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. {33} "And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. {34} "Then the King will say to those on His right hand, 'Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: {35} 'for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; >>>

Page 10: spiritual renewal

V. SERVE HIM BY SERVING OTHERS{36} 'I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.' {37} "Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? {38} 'When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? {39} 'Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?' {40} "And the King will answer and say to them, 'Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.‘

V. SERVE HIM BY SERVING OTHERSB. (Acts 9:1-5) Then Saul, still breathing threats and

murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest {2} and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. {3} As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven. {4} Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?" {5} And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" Then the Lord said, "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads.”
