EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PROGRAM
SPLATSIN EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PROGRAM
We are currently working with Holistic Emergency Preparedness &
Response Ltd to update the existing plan and train C&C, staff and
community members in Emergency Preparedness and Response. There
are a number of community members who in the past went through
training and received their EM100 Certificate. We need community
members to be involved in this process and invite anyone who may have
interest to partake in this upcoming training. Training Dates are: May
16, 17, 18 & 19. Seats are limited so if you are interested please contact
me to secure your spot in this training.
Contact Lisa David at 250-838-6496 or [email protected]
The training session will include the following:
Step 1: Conduct a review of current emergency plan with Splatsin
Emergency Operations team Review Section & Action plans and make
more applicable for community geography and demographics. It is
anticipated that a full day will be required to work with the community
to ensure their plan meets their anticipated needs.
Step 2: Facilitate updating the community's Emergency Plan with
information acquired from Step 1 and develop stronger Emergency
Action Plans to be usable and accessible by first responding personnel.
Step 3: Undergo Emergency Management training to develop internal
emergency team’s capacity – course include:
- JIBC Courses- EM100 - Intro to Emergency Management in Canada
- ICS100 – Intro to Incident Command System
- EOC110 - Intro to Emergency Operations Centres (EOC)
Step 4: Conduct a Wildfire tabletop exercise – including personnel from
any local authorities or communities that are available to participate.

Step 5: Document Lessons Learned from- exercise and adapt and
modify plan with information to make the community emergency
plan/program stronger.
Again, community involvement and education is what will make this
process a success and better prepare us for emergencies that fall under
the Emergency Preparedness Program.

NEW STAFF WELCOME
Hello and thank you for welcoming me to your community as new social Worker with Splatsin Stsmamlt Services.
A bit about me… I completed my Social Work program with Child Welfare Specialization at the University of Victoria in 2009.
In 2012, I moved to La Ronge in Northern Saskatchewan where I had an amazing experience working with youth involved in the
criminal justice system for over 5 years, both in La Ronge and surrounding areas as well as more remote communities in the Far North.
In 2015, my wonderful partner Kevin and I relocated to Salmon Arm, where I was employed as a Social Worker on the Youth Services Team.
Kevin and I are enjoying the much warmer weather here in the area and spend our time enjoying hobbies such as camping, hiking, cooking and classic vehicle restoration.
I am so thankful to be the new addition to the team and here and look forward to getting to know you all.
Thank you again for welcoming me.
Pam Pepper
