banquet will be at the Wood
River High School, which is an
alcohol free zone; but, the
hotels are within easy crawl-
ing distance of several bars
and restaurants. Sensible
driving is always urged.
Now back to the closer
future. March 22nd is our an-
nual meeting and time to
elect new officers. Thanks to
all that have volunteered or
been volunteered. Rod's pep
talk to Realy Ann convinced
her she is ready for the top
and Bill Dryden will try the
2nd seat for a year. Wes
Seideman is checking the
books, James Barry will keep
track of membership, Rick
Mills will still keep our web
site going, and the Otterness’
will produce the newsletter.
That leaves an event coordi-
nator open …... Prez words continue on page 4
Happy Valentine's Day!
Charlie and I will be ac-
cepting birthday wishes
too. Make sure to hug
your significant other
before suggesting that
you need to shine the old
British car again. Spring
is coming and I fear this
grey-shine is one of
those English weather
adaptations. Trips to
Bogus may lift your spir-
its, the sun is there. I'm
sure by St. Patrick's Day
we'll have the tops down
and be looking forward
to the annual banquet on
March 22. Have you
RSVP’d yet? Contact
Nancy O with your dinner
choice.
So speaking of cruis-
es, this year; the IBCC
Summer Tour will be vis-
iting the Wood River Val-
ley. We hope to provide you
with a choice of destinations
to fill out your passport. A top
ten list will give you at least
that many places to see and
visit between Hailey and Stan-
ley. Of course, the journey to
and from Hailey has at least
three ways to get there which
include freeway, off-way, and
the long way around the
curves. Those detouring to
Jackpot will be considered lost
and broke. Hopefully folks will
make it known if they want to
pair up and choose their
speed and routes. We will
have a food truck at registra-
tion on Friday - encouraging
you to hang around or make
some short trips to thrift
stores, car stores, or just view
the mountains. Hailey allows
open containers and the food
truck will have a vendors li-
cense. Our Saturday evening

ing and cataloging the books.

24 members braved the rainy,
icy, snowy night!
Nancy found that some other clubs
have committees. For the peace of
mind of the other officers it really is
nice if we know where we are going
ahead of time. So speak up, be
volunteered, or form a group of you
to accept this office. Thanks
And speaking of Pete, the For
Petes Sake award is a member
voted trophy for our appreciation of
what one of our members has
done for the club, community, or
mankind. Nancy will be distributing
ballots at the annual dinner or oth-
erwise defining the rules but the
short bit is let us know a name,
why you think they deserve the
trophy, and sign your name. You'll
be anonymous but we thought this
would keep Terry from stuffing the
ballot box for Lionel. Your material
might be used in a newsletter or
award ceremony, your name will
only be used with your permission.
Deadline for nominations will be
announced. The Trophy will be
awarded at summer tour.
Happy driving to everyone!
Time for a new contest … Name that widget, car part, or who’s car is that!
Here is the first “widget” who can tell what it is and what can you
use it for on your British Car?
Hint: think drive train
Look for the answer in next month’s newsletter.
Got a picture of some car widget or car part that I can use to
“stump” the club members? Don’t hesitate to send your picture to
me along with the answer!

Plans for the 2014 Summer Tour to the Wood River Valley are moving forward at an in-
creasing pace. We are expecting about 150 people and 75-80 cars. Can you say FUN
TIME? The opening reception has been organized and includes a beer exchange. You
bring some of your favorite brew to share and you drink somebody’s favorite brew! The
plans include a car show on Saturday morning. We will be advertising this show and it will
be held in a very visible location so we anticipate a large crowd. Saturday afternoon, we
have planned a range of options for fun and scenic drives in the Wood River Valley and be-
yond. The Saturday night banquet is being held at the local high school and catered by
their culinary art program. That event will be non-alcoholic, but we are arranging some
incentives for you to use when visiting local establishments on Friday and Saturday even-
ing. The summer tour registration form will soon be available by both a special email distri-
bution and on the IBCC website.

Thomas Hoyne’s
Medal of Honor
(Mike’s Dad)
Page 6
Several of you probably saw on the December 2nd news when Mike & Barbara Hoyne received posthu-
mously, Mike’s father’s Medals of Honor. Captain Thomas Hoyne, was born in 1910 on the north side of
Boise. He served in WW II. Mike and his brother began the process of securing the honors for their Dad
in 2008. Like many service men who had served—their records were destroyed in a fire in St. Louis,
MO. Captain Thomas Hoyne served in the Pacific Theatre from July 1942 to his death December 24,
1944. He and 56,000 other service men are buried in the American Cemetery in Manila, Philippines.
Pictured below is Mike holding a couple of the medals and another picture of all the medals. Don't hesi-
tate to ask Mike and Barbara about the medals.

That’s how old this film is! It started at Graumans’ Egyptian Theatre in CA. It seems only right that it be shown at the Egyptian
Theatre in Boise, ID
The soundtrack will be created by a 1927 Robert Morton organ,
played by Idaho’s own Sean Rog-ers

1977 MGB – 94,300 original miles. Purchased in 1999 as a rusted out, non-running piece of junk. Got it running,
had the body restored and painted stock Tahiti Blue in 2001. Replaced the convertible top and did the interior res-
toration myself – seats, door panels, carpeting. Dash and console are original. I’ve kept it in good mechanical con-
dition. Repairs include replacing water pump, fuel pump, alternator, battery, and other miscellaneous repairs as
needed. It could be a good daily driver. I also have original owner’s manual, tonneau cover, unattached luggage
carrier, Haynes MGB Owner’s Workshop Manual and miscellaneous box of parts. Although I’ve loved driving it over
the years, I need to sell it because I am moving on to other interests. $8500 OBO. Call Paul Philbrook 208-703-

LOTUS Super-7. This is a clone kit car – but more so. Engine: Pineapple Racing 13-B Rotary; Weight: 1350 lbs;
Includes: 2 sets of wheels and tires (beautiful condition). This car has less than 1000 miles since it was built. It
is street legal (lights, seat belts, fenders, roll bar) and can be a daily driver, but it is also Auto-Cross ready. The car
has some sentimental value and it was originally listed for $20,000 but any reasonable offer will be consid-
ered. Please forward any questions to Don Campbell at [email protected] (10/12 m)
