Nancy found that some other clubs

have committees. For the peace of

mind of the other officers it really is

nice if we know where we are going

ahead of time. So speak up, be

volunteered, or form a group of you

to accept this office. Thanks

And speaking of Pete, the For

Petes Sake award is a member

voted trophy for our appreciation of

what one of our members has

done for the club, community, or

mankind. Nancy will be distributing

ballots at the annual dinner or oth-

erwise defining the rules but the

short bit is let us know a name,

why you think they deserve the

trophy, and sign your name. You'll

be anonymous but we thought this

would keep Terry from stuffing the

ballot box for Lionel. Your material

might be used in a newsletter or

award ceremony, your name will

only be used with your permission.

Deadline for nominations will be

announced. The Trophy will be

awarded at summer tour.

Happy driving to everyone!

Time for a new contest … Name that widget, car part, or who’s car is that!

Here is the first “widget” who can tell what it is and what can you

use it for on your British Car?

Hint: think drive train

Look for the answer in next month’s newsletter.

Got a picture of some car widget or car part that I can use to

“stump” the club members? Don’t hesitate to send your picture to

me along with the answer!

creasing pace. We are expecting about 150 people and 75-80 cars. Can you say FUN

TIME? The opening reception has been organized and includes a beer exchange. You

bring some of your favorite brew to share and you drink somebody’s favorite brew! The

plans include a car show on Saturday morning. We will be advertising this show and it will

be held in a very visible location so we anticipate a large crowd. Saturday afternoon, we

have planned a range of options for fun and scenic drives in the Wood River Valley and be-

yond. The Saturday night banquet is being held at the local high school and catered by

their culinary art program. That event will be non-alcoholic, but we are arranging some

incentives for you to use when visiting local establishments on Friday and Saturday even-

ing. The summer tour registration form will soon be available by both a special email distri-

bution and on the IBCC website.

Thomas Hoyne’s

Medal of Honor

(Mike’s Dad)

Page 6

Several of you probably saw on the December 2nd news when Mike & Barbara Hoyne received posthu-

mously, Mike’s father’s Medals of Honor. Captain Thomas Hoyne, was born in 1910 on the north side of

Boise. He served in WW II. Mike and his brother began the process of securing the honors for their Dad

in 2008. Like many service men who had served—their records were destroyed in a fire in St. Louis,

MO. Captain Thomas Hoyne served in the Pacific Theatre from July 1942 to his death December 24,

1944. He and 56,000 other service men are buried in the American Cemetery in Manila, Philippines.

Pictured below is Mike holding a couple of the medals and another picture of all the medals. Don't hesi-

tate to ask Mike and Barbara about the medals.
