ROYAL FAR WESTA MESSAGE FROM OUR CEO, LINDSAY CANE.

Thanks to the generosity of philanthropic individuals, the community and corporate Australia, together with government, Royal Far West is able to reach and help vulnerable country kids, giving them the health, education and wellbeing support they desperately need in order to thrive. Fundraising is critical to our ability to reach more children, and the Ride for Country Kids has become our signature annual fundraising and awareness building event. The Ride has grown beyond our expectations and has connected us with an incredible community of supporters who are committed, like us, to happy healthy country kids. We welcome your support for 2017. Royal Far West raises more than $12 million annually to achieve our vision and we cannot do it alone. It is truly a collaborative mission to work together to raise the funds to ensure country families can access help for their kids that is so vital to give them the best chance to be happy and healthy. Donations received by Royal Far West go directly to supporting country kids and their families through our specialist health and developmental services in Manly including:• Paediatric Development Program - our team of specialist clinicians work together

to deliver our comprehensive range of multi-disciplinary healthcare services onsite in Manly. These services, combined with educational facilities through the Royal Far West School and accommodation facilities at Drummond House ensure that we offer our country children an integrated model of care and the highest level of individual support. Ongoing communication with families and rural service providers allows us to build on this to support long-term change and best outcomes for the children.

• Telecare - Working in partnership with preschools and primary schools, Telecare offers a range of programs across disciplines, providing assessment and therapy via video technology to support children and families with health, development and specialised education needs.

• Disability Services - early intervention therapy service for children with disabilities from rural and regional areas.

• Oral Health - restorative and preventative dental treatments for children who do not have access to dental services closer to home. Specialist orthodontic treatment is provided for children with problems including those affecting speech or development.

• Health and wellbeing camps – including diabetes, ADHD, intellectual disability, leadership.

Whilst every year we are achieving more, there is still so much to be done, and so many children and families relying on us for help.

One of our key objectives at Royal Far West is to build strong and sustainable friendships and partnerships through which we generate the funds to in turn, build the capabilities of children, families and local communities to manage their health and development challenges.

We would be delighted to partner with you in 2017. The Ride for Country Kids is a challenging, fun and rewarding event that I am sure both you and your team will enjoy being a part of.

Lindsay Cane Chief Executive Officer Royal Far West

ABOUT ROYAL FAR WESTWE CARE FOR COUNTRY KIDS.WE BELIEVE THAT ALL KIDS HAVE THE RIGHT TO HAVE FUN, TO LEARN, TO PLAY, TO BE HAPPY AND HEALTHY.WE BELIEVE THAT KIDS IN RURAL AND REMOTE AREAS DESERVE THE SAME OPPORTUNITIES IN LIFE, AS CITY KIDS. WE BELIEVE IN THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY TO A CHILD’S WELLBEING. WE BELIEVE IT TAKES A SUPPORTIVE COMMUNITY TO RAISE A CHILD. WE BELIEVE THAT EVERY CHILD HAS THE RIGHT TO ACCESS THE HEALTH SERVICES THEY NEED TO THRIVE AND GROW - NO MATTER WHERE THEY LIVE. WE BELIEVE THAT A CHILD’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING IS MULTI-FACETED.WE KNOW THAT RESPITE BY THE SEA - IS GOOD FOR THE SOUL!

Royal Far West exists to improve the health and well being of children and young people who live in rural and remote Australian communities.

We give kids access to the specialist health, education, development and wellbeing support they need.

We are specialists in diagnosing and resolving issues in children with complex health, development and wellbeing concerns. We provide a multi-disciplinary integrated service focussed on early intervention, education and prevention.

Our primary focus is on children and young people living in rural and remote communities who are seriously disadvantaged by geography, lack of access to local services, workforce shortages and educational and financial restraints.

Lifelong health and development outcomes for a child depend on the early detection of lifestyle risk factors, delayed development and illness and early intervention to resolve these issues.

20% of children in NSW have a health and/or development issue when starting school and approximately 25% are not ready to start school due to socio-economic disadvantage or their developmental vulnerability. Children in the bush are disproportionately disadvantaged and complex health issues often go undetected.

The scale and urgency of the problem is growing. Every year more parents and carers with children with complex health needs from isolated areas of the country are seeking help from Royal Far West.

Thank you for helping us to reach vulnerable Australian kids in need.

THE RIDE FOR COUNTRY KIDS12, 13 & 14 MARCH 2017 WAGGA WAGGA TO ORANGE.

In 2017 cyclists seeking a challenging ride will have the opportunity to join Royal Far West’s fourth Ride for Country Kids and at the same time make an outstanding difference to the lives of country children through their fundraising efforts.

The ride is professionally managed by cycling event management firm Entoure in conjunction with Royal Far West and our Principal Partner, FDC Construction & Fitout.

The 2017 three day event will cover over 420km, departing from the major regional centre for the Riverina, Wagga Wagga on Sunday 12th March, and concluding in Australia’s ‘Colour City’, Orange in NSW Central West, on Tuesday 14th March.

The event increases awareness of the need for Royal Far West’s critical health and wellbeing services and support, and at the same time raises essential funds to support vulnerable country children and their families.

In 2017 we hope to raise more than $650,000 to support children in need.

Throughout the ride participants and support crew will make scheduled stops to address media, visit schools, local communities and local attractions.

Many of our Ride For Country Kids participants return year after year because of the quality experience both in relation to the organisation of the event and the camaraderie between the participants who undertake this rewarding journey together.

In 2017 Royal Far West looks forward to welcoming you to our 2017 Ride For Country Kids.

WANT TO RIDE? RIDE SAFELY, HAVE FUN.RAISE FUNDS AND AWARENESS FOR ROYAL FAR WEST.

Royal Far West’s Ride for Country Kids is essentially about the kids.

We want you to have an amazing, safe, fun and life changing experience, meet great people, extend yourself and create life long memories. We also look forward to sharing with you how we help isolated country families and the powerful positive difference RFW makes to the health and well-being of kids and families living remotely.

Importantly we aim to raise funds and awareness for Royal Far West.

Our goal for the 2017 Ride is to reach a fundraising total of $650,000.

We believe that together as one team all of us create a powerful collective force and our united focus, determination and dedication will make our fundraising goal achievable.

We therefore set a minimum amount of $3,000 as a fundraising target to be reached by each rider, and a team target of $15,000.

We ask you to make a personal commitment to reaching your target. Once you’ve registered for the ride, you will automatically be directed to set up your own fundraising page via the GoFundraise platform. The process is simple with help buttons to guide you through and support is available from both RFW and GoFundraise.

Every dollar we raise goes directly back to helping kids living remotely.

We ask you to do your best, share your commitment and experience with your friends, family and colleagues. Let them know what you are doing and why and ask them to visit your GoFundraise page to sponsor you and make a donation.

In the last event, riders raised an average of around $4,500 each and came up with novel ways to do it - such as holding a corporate team “Waxathon”, trivia nights, BBQs, morning teas and so forth.

You may be surprised just how much sponsorship you receive once you invite people to support you in what you are doing for Royal Far West.

The team at Royal Far West are on hand to help you reach your fundraising target, please contact Sophia Masur should you require any assistance.
